Right, so I can't start this thread using anything like..."Here we go ladies!"

So, will have to come up with something completely different....

How about Congratulations Kay!

Hiya GJ, sounds like you haven't had the most relaxing post hols week Do you think you can get through to him?

NatalieJane · 15/04/2008 12:07

Basically just hormonal build up from the MC, and then the late period adding to that, which I wasn't really convinced about, but as the days have gone on since my period finally showed up, and my belly has gone down it seems to fit.

aw thats gd then NJ, did they tell you what it was?

so this new thread... x

ChoChoSan · 15/04/2008 11:57

Calsworld - thanks for the interesting link, it was really helpful.

The more I think about it, the more it seems possible that a short luteal phase could be my problem, though I will resist the temptation to self diagnose!

Playingthewaitinggame · 15/04/2008 11:54

Hi all, been a bit quiet recently as work is so damn busy.

Congrats Dis!!!! Yay another BFP.

Never used OPKs or temped so I am no use really. All I am doing is avidly monitoring CM, which seems to be pretty reliable in my case and although ov seems to be changing by as much as a week my LP always seems to be 13 days so I am happy with that as an indication for the moment. I know the second I start doing anything else I will become completely obssessed which is something I am trying to avoid.

Nat - OMG, I cant believe your sis, some people just dont deserve kids! So hard to know what/if you can do to help.

I'm on folic acid and muti vits at the moment. As soon as the multi vits run out then I will go on proper maternity vits.

Hi everyone else

NatalieJane · 15/04/2008 11:53

Oh, LOL, erm, it's OK, still get's a bit podgy in the evenings, but that is calming down now, it doesn't get anywhere near as big as it was, and during the day it is just normal I think.

All very odd!

Broodybabywannabe · 15/04/2008 11:48

tum!! i really cant type today!! x

NatalieJane · 15/04/2008 11:47

My yum??? I don't know.... ?

ChoChoSan · 15/04/2008 11:45

Thanks for your responses everyone!

Particularly helpful comments re. length of luteal phase...

My consultant has never discussed anything about the luteal phase with me, but from my own research, I am wondering if that maybe the problem, as the cervical mucous seems to appear quite late as well as the ov twinges.

I must say, this makes me feel a bit more optimistic about taking Clomid, if that serves to lengthen luteal phase. Prior to this I thought it might be a bit of a waste of time, as there is no indication that I am not ovulating.

Also, if I ovulate late, it might well be that MrChoCho and I are less likely to be still shagging for England at that point in my cycle...

...not suggesting sex has become a bit routine, or anything...:-)

Broodybabywannabe · 15/04/2008 11:36

aww nj your poor DN's!! lucky your mums there for them tho

NJ while i was off i missed what happened wit your yum?? xx

NatalieJane · 15/04/2008 11:12

I can't say anything, mum is worried that if anything get's said that sister will stop taking the kids round to mums, so then where will they be? Besides, if I said something, I can get in the car and go home and away from it, but my mum is stuck there, I don't want to do something that is going to make it worse for her IYSWIM?

I don't think she is depressed at all, or ill for that matter, she hasn't got a maternal bone in her body. I think a lot of it stems from the fact that her DH's family is very rich, Sis and her DH run up massive amounts of debts her PIL's bail them out, every time she has another baby they give them £10,000 for the baby, last time they renovated their house with the money, not exactly for the baby was it?!! So she has a baby, get's paid a load of dosh, then palms the kids off to my mums and that's it, the cycle starts again.

The eldest practically lives at my mums, he stays there more than at his house, he stayed both nights we were there, Saturday morning, sis brings the baby over for mum to feed him, she hadn't fed him by now, it was 10 o'clock baby was distraught, sister moaning about how grumpy he's been all morning, well durrrrr do you think he might be hungry???! Anyway she walks in, after not having seen her DS1 all night, he was upstairs playing, she didn't even shout up a hello to him, or ask mum if he was OK, nothing. Mum lives close to a high school, sis says when her DS1 is old enough to go to the high school he is moving in with my mum permanantly because it will be easier to get to school, mum lives a 5 min walk from the school, sis lives 7-ish minutes! She doesn't give a toss about any of them, as long as she doesn't have to deal with them, she is happy, and that is all that matters!

NJ, think you're right about length of the Luteal Phase being too short for implantation - think I've read that before...perhaps do some research on this ChoCho?

Teuch will be along later, I'm sure.

Cal can't believe you coined the resident expert thing before me!

calsworld · 15/04/2008 11:02

Oh NJ, I don't know how you managed not to slap or shake or shout at her, poor kids, and 7 months is very young to be receiving so little attention from his mummy. Not that its excusable for the older DC's either. Well done for staying calm though as if she's already grumpy with them, I guess it could have been worse.

Is she depressed or something, or ill perhaps? Maybe I'm naive but it doesn't seem particularly normal to be quite so detached? Good job your mum is there dishing out affection.

Ooooh Bedford, you wouldn't be a million miles from me there I'm in Derby..(I did say not a million)

NatalieJane · 15/04/2008 11:02

ChoCho, sorry I don't know a thing about OV sticks, but I am sure one of the resident obsessers experts will help you out.

I think the legnth of your LP is probably the cause of the problem, if the LP is too short then it doesn't give the egg time enough to implant. I think there are some herbal remedys you can take to try and lengthen you LP, but I think that is what clomid does anyway isn't it? Sorry haven't got my thinking cap on this morning, can you tell?!!!

Welcome to MN BTW, hope the clomid does what's needed

calsworld · 15/04/2008 10:57

Hi ChoCho,

Afraid I have no experience on OPK's, figured they always seemed a bit tricky to me, but I would have guessed that a line the same as control would be normal, as with HPT?

Temping is a slightly easier way of finding out about OVing and you can either just take your own temperature and plot it, or buy a gizmo that records it all inside and then tells you when you are fertile - these are expensive though and I don't know anyone that's got one so don't know if they're any good. One of my old work colleagues used it as contraception and so far so good !

This is a lucky thread so you never know!

Also, it might be worth reading my earlier links on cervical mucous as that can play a part too apparently!

As for OVing in short cycles, best bet is probably to wait for Teuch to sign in, she's our resident expert on this thread!!

Down south is Bedford, crappy horrible place, but the villages around it are lovely, house prices won't affect us if we can sell this place, we will be renting - yipeeeeeeeeeee

Sister 2 and her DH, they are just sooo bloody selfish and bone idle, the eldest kid is 7 he is absolutely lovely, really sweet kid, until his mum turns up, as soon as she comes in the door he turns into a little shit, sorry but it is true, he went from playing with DS1 to hitting and kicking him in a click of a finger. The middle one, he is 2, he is a bit of a terror, but if you get down to his level and actually play with him, he is lovely, he just wants some attention. And the baby he was in his door bouncer for nearly 3 hours, the poor love was nearly falling asleep in it, I said to Sister 2 about him still being in there and she looked at me, waiting for me to say I'll get him, but I stood my ground and I didn't say anything, she completely turned her back on me and lit another bloody ciggarette! Left him in there, eventually mum got him out and he just flopped onto her and was fast asleep. All they want is some attention, she just literally completely ignores them, I think apart from bellowing at them, I saw her actually speak to the middle kid once over the whole weekend, once FFS. GRRRRRRRRRRR!

Your poor DH Cal hope he get's home soon.

Lot's of tutting and 'ing going on over the weekend!

Popcorn? Heron? Where are you and are you taking your folic acid?

ChoChoSan · 15/04/2008 10:51

Hello Everybody!

This is my first time posting on mumsnet, but I have been lurking around for a couple of weeks, and I have a couple of questions I was hoping for opinions on, as you all seem to be so clued up about the entire process, and willing to help those of us who are not!

My partner and I have being trying to concieve for 2 years now, and I start using 50mg Clomid next time I come on.

So far, all tests have shown no probs, so unexplained infertility. I have used ovulation sticks in the past whereby evidence of ovulation is a darker line than the control, and I think they seemed to work, but never a strikingly dark line. I gave them up after a few months though, as I didn't want to get obsessive about conceiving.

I was hoping for peoples' thoughts on whether I should have had a very noticably dark line, or just something that more or less matches the control line?

Also, I have a 26 day cycle, but wondered how late in the month it would be possible to ovulate...I don't seem to get any ovulation twinges or pains until about 6 days before I come on.

I also wondered what waiting lists for IVF were like in Waltham Forest borough...if anyone has any experience of this.

Your thoughts, ideas advice etc would be gratefully received...it's all getting a bit boring this whole baby making process now, and I am just reaching the point of beginning to get despondent, after stoically laughing in the face of failure up until now!

calsworld · 15/04/2008 10:51

Broody? Dis? Teuch? LL? MoosMa? Cosmo? LG&T? Diege?

Come on, I need c/f of folic acid consumption or a promise to go purchase!

Kay - you're not excused? Playing? GJ? Sorky? Starshine?

Have I missed anyone?

LOL at sisters Nat, your Sister 1 sounds a little familiar, however DH and I have been really crap recently and need to put some effort in. Its just so blimin hard when we both work full time, and I know I do whinge about it quite a bit, but neither of my sisters do and they whinge more than me!

Where is 'down south' to you NJ? DH's family are near Winchester, we just can't afford to move down there - and don't think I could cope being that close to MIL / FIL....although in my softer moments, they aren't bad at all really, the initial thought of it just seems scary.

at not feeding kids to kids timescales and at smacking them for being upset about it! Poor DC's . I wonder if they realise how much happier their DC's would be if they had regular healthy food going in to fuel them?

My DH has to transfer some IT over to new server last night, so he slept yesterday and went to work at 9 last night - he's not back yet! FFS what do they want from him, he's not going to be fit to drive .

Pregnacare in this house Ma'am

calsworld · 15/04/2008 10:37

this one has some other things about improving cervical mucous. Also highlights the ticking biological clock!!

Think I've been underdoing the water consumption thing in general so am going to swamp myself this cycle. Even if it doesn't get me pregnant, it certainly won't harm. Also, I bought mumomega but haven't been taking it as was saving it for pg, but it contains eve primrose so perhaps will start taking it now instead, as well as folic acid.

Everyone is taking folic acid aren't they? ROLL CALL!!!!!
