Currently TTC number 2 and struggling after getting pregnant fairly easily with number 1 (on cycle 3)!
Thought I'd start a thread so we can all support each other. Anyone else on their TTC journey for number 2? I am currently on cycle 7 and have ruled myself out already as negative pregnancy test at 10DPO. Each month I convince myself that I am pregnant! Experienced a chemical at cycle 3 😩

Still a big fat 0 on the OPKs.. am i broken 😂😂😂

LemonBitter · 11/06/2024 22:08

This temperature stuff is fascinating - I might have to start doing that next cycle!!

Mummio92 · 11/06/2024 21:39

@NattyPeer I also usually need to wee in the night 😂 but don’t find that makes a difference as usually still have a few hours back asleep after. I think the timing is the most important thing to keep consistent, for every hour later your temp rises by like 0.1 degrees which seems minimal but as you're only looking for a rise of 0.2+ for ovulation it’s easy for it to start getting confusing.

NattyPeer · 11/06/2024 21:06

Or starting from tomorrow I will do it at the same time each day as I know it needs to be consistent for the next cycle!

@Mummio92 annoyingly I get up most nights for a wee 🤣🤣 I will have to start doing it at the same time each day on the next cycle!

@NattyPeer
yeah you need to do it the same time each morning, as soon as you wake and before you drink, speak or get up. Ideally you’d have had at least 4hrs undisturbed sleep prior to taking it.
Drinking alcohol and getting up in the night can also skew it a little bit.
I keep the thermometer in my bedside drawer and take the temp as first thing I do when I open my eyes.

Blue line is temperature and orange is my OPK reading (when you enter the coloured sticks into the app they will give a number to indicate how dark they are compared to the control line like you can see in my previous pic). So in the chart, as the orange line rises, body is preparing the ovulate and then once I ovulated on CD 18 my temperature rose and went above the cover line (horizontal line) the next day

LemonBitter · 11/06/2024 20:43

Wee not week 😂

LemonBitter · 11/06/2024 20:32

Oh interesting thanks ladies, I've brought the tests back out! Had loads of water tonight so the test I just did was 0 as my week was basically water so will try again tomorrow 😬

NattyPeer · 11/06/2024 20:17

@Mummio92 do you take it at the same time every morning? What’s the one in red vs the one in blue?!

OP posts:
Mummio92 · 11/06/2024 20:05

@NattyPeer BBT can take a fair while to get into the swing of! Don’t be concerned by erratic temps, the only thing that matters is that you get an obvious rise after ovulation (3 temps higher than the previous 6).
So you can see in my chart- the temps are up and down loads but once ovulated they rise above the cover line and stay that way

@LemonBitter illness certainly does play a part! I agree with @Mummio92 keep testing!

I am doing ok thank you hun! My BBT is all over the place so not sure I have been doing it right 🤣🤣 only started this month!

@LemonBitter
Hopefully the attachment works - I’ve added some pics from May where you can see I had a high OPK reading on CD12 but then was ill and didn’t ovulate so it peaked again on CD19

Hey @NattyPeer ☺️

So I kept testing and no peak - I got 0.58 on CD 13 and usually peak on CD 14 so I'm wondering whether I peaked overnight and didn't catch it on a test? Mine tend to go up and down pretty quickly. I carried on testing and they were all lower than 0.20 so I don't really know how else to explain it 🫤

How are you getting on?

I guess it’s not impossible that you peaked overnight but I’d take a guess that actually your body attempted to ovulate so produced more LH and made the sticks go somewhat darker but then illness prevented it.
Keep testing daily as my peak has been delayed 7-8 days when ill before.
I only knew from BBT monitoring otherwise I’d have also mistakenly thought I’d had a quick overnight peak too.

@LemonBitter how are you getting on? Any luck with the ovulation tests?

@HRHXO that sounds really tough, I found toddler stage harder than baby with all the illnesses!

Thanks @Mummio92 ... still no peak this morning, I have no idea what's going on 😩 Italy sounds great.. holidays with a little one deffo a different vibe though 😂😂

Mummio92 · 08/06/2024 21:22

@LemonBitter no worries, definitely still chance this month but frustrating when you think you’ve dtd at the right times!

I’ve read that ewcm is the most reliable indicator of being fertile so that is likely quite telling.

We are going to Italy which will be lovely I’m sure, but I won’t go so far as to say relaxing with a toddler in tow 🤪

Mummio92 · 08/06/2024 21:18

@HRHXO relaxed is a good way to be!
I’d always wanted a 2 year age gap but we started trying sooner because it took quite a while to get preg last time.

Sorry to hear it’s been hard-going recently, can really relate to that, can’t remember the last time the baby was completely healthy!

LemonBitter · 08/06/2024 21:16

Thanks @Mummio92 that's really helpful and helping my panic a bit 😂

I've usually noticed EWCM and none yet so maybe this virus has hit me more than I thought... was assuming it was hayfever for a while but I'm getting a lot of fluey symptoms and shooting pains 🤦🏼‍♀️

Jealous of your holiday coming up - somewhere sunny and relaxing?!

HRHXO · 08/06/2024 21:14

@Mummio92 it's just cycle 1 TTC baby no2 and to be fair I'm not in a massive rush because things are tough with our 21m old at the moment he's had back to back nasty illnesses, croup, whooping cough now chicken pox so I'm bloody exhausted but we are 33 so don't want to wait too long to have a second baby. I'm trying to stay relaxed ish for the first couple of cycles but we will see how that actually goes lol x

Mummio92 · 08/06/2024 21:09

@LemonBitter Technically, I don’t think it could stop Ov because if you don’t Ov, you wouldn’t have a period so it would still be the same cycle if you see what I mean. What’s more likely is that your follicular phase (pre ov phase) will just be longer- you’ll probably need to keep doing daily OPKs until they start to rise. Or if you monitor CM then keep looking out for ewcm which will be there on your most fertile days.

(It is possible to have a bleed without ovulating which is not technically a menstrual period but a bleed from drop in oestrogen, but that is much more unlikely than your ovulation just being delayed a bit)

LemonBitter · 08/06/2024 21:02

Eughhhhh @Mummio92 I think it has - still faint OPKs.. can it stop ovulation completely that cycle?

Im gutted as its the first cycle in ages where we are able to DTD on bloody day 14 😂😂

Mummio92 · 08/06/2024 20:58

@LemonBitter illness definitely can delay ovulation annoyingly! I’ve had it happen several times. On occasion I’ve even had the easy@home OPKs start to darken as expected but then get lighter again and then a week later the real surge has come.

@HRHXO welcome! Have you only just started ttc #2 or are you a few cycles in? My little one is 14 months but I’ve already been trying since January.
Also I’ve read loads of past posts where people have conceived after only dtd once so definitely possible
