Period cramps way before period due? Implantation?

Hi - looking for some advice.

Has anyone else had strong cramping before their period is due? I'm very regular and due on my period next Wednesday, but I've had cramping all last week. It's been quite intense! Normally I just get a bit of cramping the day of my period or the day before. Could it be implantation?

The weird thing is, the cramping has now kinda stopped today. So I'm super confused! Not really any other symptoms, other than I'm bloated (what's new?!) and a bit headachey for past few days.

Me and my husband did the deed around my ovulation which was a week ago last Sunday or Monday, which would make me 7 days DPO approx.

I can't bear to test yet as I don't want to be disappointed and get my hopes up in case it's a BFN!

Hi op, this actually happened to me with both of my pregnancies. Symptom spotting also drove me a bit loopy tbh, and I know everyone is very different. I’m sending the best of luck though!

Hey@Tally89 are you not tempted to test?? Do you normally have cramping before af? My boobs feel a bit heavier but I don't know if that's normal, i feel like ok paying more attention to every little thing this time! I hope af doesn't arrive for you tomorrow x

Hey @jellyfish2 - period due tomorrow, but now cramping has stopped! I now have cold symptoms and a headache. I also have this heavy feeling like my period is going to start any minute. Worried it might be another BFN for me this month and I've got carried away symptom spotting again.

How are you getting on?

Keep me updated with symptoms!

Tally89 · 19/05/2024 13:38

@jellyfish2 No, no other children, this would be baby no.1 for us. Yes, let's send positive vibes and hope we get those two lines next week! I def think the cramps are weird, and if I'm not pregnant I think I will get a check up, the feeling is that distinct ya know?

Oh that's awful about your ectopic and having to lose a tube, that must've been scary! Do you have any other children? This is #2 for me.

No, no more symptoms really. Well, I'm convincing myself I'm thirstier and I have had a headache that's been coming and going since yesterday but that could be anything 😂
Hopefully we'll get our BFPs!!🤞

Tally89 · 19/05/2024 13:31

@jellyfish2 so so sorry to hear bout your MMC 😞

It sounds like cramps are a good sign for you, so fingers and toes crossed this is your month! I had an ectopic in 2020 and lost my right tube, so I think that's made me a bit more anxious since we started TTC.

I think I will hold off and test maybe 10DPO/11DPO. But that's next Thursday, so who knows! I really hope this is it.

Have you had any other symptoms? I don't have sore boobs or anything like that - just the heavy feeling and cramps.

@Tally89 I started noticing it last night but feels worse today. So I never have had cramps until literally my period was starting. In December I found out I was pregnant and cramps were my first sign but it was around 9dpo. I sadly had a MMC in February which I found out at my 12 wk scan that baby's heart had stopped. I had surgery and then before my first period almost 7wks later I remember having continual cramping before it arrived. I'm not sure if that was because of the surgery etc because my last cycle I didn't have any that I can remember. So really I'm not entirely sure what the cramping means haha! I hate symptom spotting but like you say it's hard not to. I want to hold off testing until Saturday (11dpo). When are you planning on testing?

Tally89 · 19/05/2024 13:04

@jellyfish2 We could be in the same boat then! I'm not sure exactly how many DPO I am but I think I ovulated last Sunday or Monday and the cramps started Wednesday, so maybe like 3 DPO they started.

Do you normally get cramps this early before your period? I don't and mine have been quite intense! With a sort of scratchy feeling. it's SO hard not to symptom spot!

I'm 5dpo today and I've been having cramps all day! Not due my period until a week tomorrow. When did yours start? 7dpo seems like it could be a pregnancy symptom but from what I've read 5dpo is too early. I'm so confused!

Shahhhh · 19/05/2024 11:54

You could be!!! I'd wait a few more days if you can then test with first morning wee love. I know if it was me I'd be peeing on a stick by now!! 😂

Tally89 · 19/05/2024 10:31

oh and I also feel a 'weight' down there as though I am about to start my period. That's been going on for days to, with a bit of creamy white CM.
