Hairy, I honestly don't get that much, I'm just such an idiot before 10am that I can't remember my own name, much less whether DP has tried it on that morning! Not to disparage DP, he is far more interested that my XH, who could happily go for months without and never initiated. We were supposedly TTC, but looking at my charts from that time, I don't think we ever managed to BD within that 6 day window in any of the 14 cycles. No wonder I wasn't getting preggers, you'd have thought the fertility clinic would have asked about that one

HairyT ... very pleased to meet you! I'm the big thicko who made the Zita/Vita error a while back You are very welcome here.

Rattling ... so glad you're going to try reflexology. Apart from anything else, my feet still feel like they're walking on air 2 full days later ... I still feel very relaxed, not that I think I was ever awfully stressed before.

I'm on CD11 and getting ready to get down to business . I'm trying to time things a little better this month as we always start BD'ing around CD 10 and then run out of steam by the time I Ov. No other fertility signs yet so just biding my time here.

HairyToe · 09/04/2008 20:20

wow sarah I'm impressed that you get so much action you forget when you've done it! I personally am much keener in the mornings but it doesn;t normally happen then any more especially not when Dh is getting up to go to work.

rattling - happy to take part in any discussions re Hoo Ha's and dead literary lesbians if it gives me the excuse to indulge in shamelessly analysing my menstrual cycle each month with a group of like-minded women. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure my RL friends would soon start avoiding me if I subjected them to my baby-making musings.

By the way we're just relaxing and forgetting about it and seeing what happens...honest

sarah76 · 09/04/2008 17:04

OMG, what a numpty I am. . .I just remembered I did actually get a BD in this morning....but it was a...ahem..'non-productive' one on DP's part. Guess it doesn't really count for TTC purposes, but I still can't believe I forgot, poor DP. All his efforts and 10 hours later I can't even recall it! This is why I keep telling him early morning is not my best time. . .

This isn't necessarily the place to do this, but I got only one response on products. Any of you London girls have the number of a good seamstress/ curtain maker who can make Roman blinds to fit my bay window? I figure you're temp'ers - organisation and perfection complex run through your veins - one of you must have a seamstress on speed dial!

Hmm, wonder how many of us are virgos

Fiddling around with my chart, trying to figure out if I've already ovulated yet. If I put in tomorrow's temp as 36.08, nothing happens. But if I put it in at 36.09, FF says I've O'd puts in dotted lines and says my cervical position seems to conflict.

It is a bit weird, it was very high and squishy last month, and this month when I think I O'd is was still medium and not too soft. Did have EWCM, but briefly and not very much. Maybe I haven't missed it after all? Will try to get DP in the sack soon just in case. . .

Hairy - welcome! I first started charting two months before we knew we were going to TTC. The first month was my first cycle off of BCP and I didn't temp. The second month I was temping and was fascinated when my body did what my temp indicated it should. Things really started to fall into place an happen exactly as they should in cycle 3, our first TTC, and that's the cycle I got pregnant! I'd hate to admit this - especially since the pregnancy sadly ended in miscarriage - but I was ever so slightly disappointed that I wasn't able to finish out that cycle charting/temping to see what would happen! Although of course I was delighted for my BFP!

Also, I have a similar situation to sarah in that my EWCM can start up to 3 days before ovulation and doesn't necessarily continue through it.

Oh, and, Zita West is a fertility guru to the stars and author of Zita West's Guide to Getting Pregnant.

beanie I think the new O date makes a lot of sense temp wise. Fingers crossed for you!

rattling · 09/04/2008 16:07

Hairy - glad to welcome you as a temp buddy. I think now we are also the BFP disbelievers - only 18 high temps and BFP will do to allow graduation. I thought in this thread I'd find the sensible, scientific approach to TTC - but as you have noticed with the "Hoo-Ha" chat and Vita West's feminist fertility techniques it's not working out quite as I'd hoped.

Keeps me amused in the black spot between coffee and going home time I suppose

Hairy, I've left the question marks in for now. Myself, I find the EWCM doesn't coincide exactly with ovulation. I seem to have the EWCM and then ovulate the next day or two later....or perhaps I'm remembering it wrong....need to nose around in my own charts for a while!

As for your LP, I think 16 is still within the range of normal. I wouldn't worry too much until you have been charting a whole cycle and can say definitely what it is.

HairyToe · 09/04/2008 15:44

Now I look at your stats I still seem to have a strangely long LP? Maybe I'm completely out with the O date after all???

HairyToe · 09/04/2008 15:43

Purely by guesswork and monitoring of CM I think I ovulated CD12 which I assume makes me 11DPO. My cycle is normally 28 days, occasionally 27 so I'll guess at a LP of 16 days?

In previous cycles I had thought I ovulated earlier (CD10/11) but this would give me a freakishly long LP and I did have EWCM all day CD12 this time. Sorry if I sound confused but I am - hence the decision to start temping!

So 11 DPO, LP 16 days

sarah76 · 09/04/2008 15:35

Yay beanie, hope you got it! The same thing seems to happen to mewe do it loads around that time of month but miss 1 and 2 days before ovulation every single damn time! However, they say 5 days prior and up to 1 day after are good, so looks like you got in 4 BDswell done.

Hairy, I've put you in the list, any idea how many days past ovulation you are? or what your luteal phase is normally? Each morning, the first one to the thread clears out the previous days temps and advances all the cycle days and DPOs. Welcome!

HairyToe · 09/04/2008 15:08

The thermometer that is. And morning, not mornong.

By the way - sorry to be dim but who is Vita/Zita West and why the spelling 'error' ?

HairyToe · 09/04/2008 15:06

Just had to do a search to work out what Hoo-Ha temping is. Do't think I'd better give that a go. Dh is rolling his eyes at me putting the thing in my mouth every mornong let alone up there.

beaniesteve · 09/04/2008 15:01

I'm going to do Hoo-Ha temping next month.
Just been given an ovulation day ... wonder if we did enough

HairyToe · 09/04/2008 15:00

Hi everyone can I join your thread please? I've only just started with this charting business (three days in!) and have been following your posts and getting some great advice from everyone.

I am TTC no. 3, on cycle 3, CD23 now. Temp today 36.6.

I was going to wait until CD1 to start temping but thought starting early would give me some practice at remembering to take my temp before I get up to go to the loo. Also psychologically if I'm not pregnant I still have the excitement (!) of seeing my temp drop as Af arrives and looking forward to discovering the secrets of my fertility next month. And of course if I am pregnant (woo-hoo) I won't need to worry about it (but may be a little disapponited that I don't get to produce a nice shiny graph of my very own...)

hi Minxi, I know I said I wasn't going to do chart-meddling anymore but....

I'm looking at it and wondering if you are having an anovulatory cycle. They can be much longer than normal cycles. Have you been under a lot of stress recently (TTC in itself is stressful)?

Also wondering about the temps, you have charted in farenheit, but in your post are giving temps in celsius? Which type of therometer do you use, and what kind? I ask because whichever way you look at it, this month your chart has jumped around an awful lot from about CD24.

I still think there's some possibility you did O on the 25th or 26th, as both are big one day increases. However, with temps at 36.14 I can't see how you can confirm it because there's really no upward temperature shift pattern with the temps you got the last few days.

If you did O on the CD25, that would make you due for AF on the CD38. I'm thinking a more likely scenario is that you're having an anovulatory cycle and the spotting is your body figuring it out. At least for me, whenever I have anovulatory cycles, I get spotting for a few days before AF. When I've ovulated, I usually don't spot, or only 12-24 hours before AF comes on full force.

Ramble ramble ramble

Rattling, I reckon you stayed in the same hovel I did when I left hubby in NYC. There was a guy who, every morning at 5am, would start screaming 'Get out of the f*ckin' bathroom!!!'

HairyToe · 09/04/2008 14:25

sorkycake just wanted to pop onto this thread to say sorry for this happening to you. I am just starting to temp and posted a question recently and you gave me some good advice. I was very pleased for you when you got your BFP and disappointed it hasn;t worked out.

I had a similar situation last month with 2 BFPs and a BFN before my period arriving a day late. It was really disappointing after the excitement of 'being pregnant' for a couple of days. I assume it was a CP and havevowed to not test till a few days over this month.
