Thought it was time we had a new home, seeing as we've almost outgrown the old one. So in honour to Scorpio, Sybil, BB and toomuch (hope I didn't forget anyone ) here we are - in the company of pregnant (and cheerful) ladies

Oh Hobnobs that is fantastic news!!!!!!!!

Even though I haven't been able to post one-handed I have been checking in to find out how you were doing and I can't tell you have pleased I am for you. I do think that this thread title has been quite lucky for us!

toomuchtimeonline · 11/08/2008 09:54

MT - I'm drowning in nappy research at the moment.. I'm thinking of maybe just buying some small terrys for the first few weeks and a couple of wraps and then going from there once he's a bit bigger.. Unfortunately pregnancy hormones have me the most indecisive woman on the planet so can't quite decide whether this is the best option! The other option is to just throw money at the problem and allow the evil shopper in me to come and buy a selection of cute little ones to try [evil grin ]

toomuchtimeonline · 11/08/2008 09:52

Oh wow hobnobs - huge congrats!!! As they say a positive is a positive no matter how feint!!!!

Hello. It's very quiet in here, isn't it!

Well, I did another test yesterday afternoon (First Response this time) and got a very faint positive . Showed it to DH who, bless him, told me not to get my hopes up too much as it was so faint, and that maybe the Clomid / IUI had messed up my cycle and might give me a false reading, though I've read enough threads on here about a line being a line.

Anyway, I tested again obsessively first thing this morning with both a Clearblue Digital and First Response and they both came up positive , though still quite faint, on the FR. Still don't quite believe it and a bit nervous about the next few weeks, so I hope the hormone levels improve. Have run out of tests for now though so will stop for the moment!

hobnobs · 09/08/2008 11:08

Mistlethrush Those wraps are very cute!

Not sure what is happening with my cycle I had my IUI two weeks ago yesterday and my luteal phase is normally 13/14 days. No AF yet but woke up at 12.30 last night and tested with a ClearBlue Digital as the suspense was stopping me going back to sleep! BFN . I've heard that Clomid can lengthen short luteal phases but thought mine was ok to start with! Temperature not dropped yet either.

Toomuch / Scorpio - we had reusables for ds - fantastic and cute. We got a trial pack when he was about 8wks and decided which types to get at that point - the best thing to do as we wouldn't necessarily have bought the ones that fitted him best if we hadn't done this. We also surprised ourselves and bought prefolds as well as some shaped nappies - cheaper, easier to dry and, because they were cheaper, we had more so that we changed ds more often without worrying about running out.... And we liked Nature Babies wraps

This is the one we liked for ds when he was a bit older - the wrap does up at the sides - which takes a little getting used to start with if you've been fastening at the front, but it makes it less bulky at the front.

If I'd had a girl I might have gone for this:

I've even bought Nature Babies wraps directly from NBs and got them to add additional poppers on the waist due to slim ds. (not sure where he inherited that trait from)

Flame on this site sells cloth nappies - and is very helpful.

Scorpio Love the latest pics of Millie. Bit of your aim to get back to size 8, though it does sound like you're being sensible about it. I was measured and weighed yesterday at the Hammersmith and the nurse asked me why I was frowning as I got off the scales - said I know it's because if I weigh myself without any clothes, then I'm just under the BMI healthy limit for my weight / height, but with clothes on, it tips me over. Bit silly, I know

Anyway, we had our first appointment at the Hammersmith about IVF (through NHS) yesterday. All seemed to go ok - though he did mutter something about sado-masochism when I said I'd been having acupuncture (DH's thoughts exactly) and seemed unimpressed by my temperature taking. He told us we'll get a letter telling us when we are due to start treatment - could be 3, 4 or 5 months, and we'll have another appointment 6 weeks before that to explain how it all works. I need to have a scan to check ovaries are accessible before that and DH will need to do another sample but other than that, I'm going to forget about it for the moment .

Assuming this cycle of IUI isn't successful (and I'm pretty sure it hasn't been), we should still have time to try two more privately at UCH, as long as we have a month off, without any drugs, before doing IVF. It does make it hard trying to plan holidays / weekends away with all this going on - all in a good cause though

Gilly Hope you're having a lovely few days off . Am impressed at your old boss for agreeing to mentor you!

scorpio1 · 07/08/2008 16:14

toomuch if you're thinking of reuseables get in touch with your local nappylady representative - they will come to your house and show you all the nappies and how they work - my B (DGodS's mum) has just signed up to be a nappylady and I've seen all her demo ones and they're fab!

toomuchtimeonline · 07/08/2008 14:55

Thanks nomore

Scorpio - sounds like you are being healthy about it so I won't get too at you being a size 8 - I'm not sure I was even a size 8 when I was 16 years old

If anyone is into any virtual shopping I've found a new topic! I'm looking at reusable nappies and they are the butest think in the world.. check them out!

some would suggest i don't...but having 3dc is not without its tolls on your body...i am currently an 8/10 and am used to being a 6/8, so would settle for an 8 all round. just eating healthy really and a bit of exercise, nothing extreme at all.

Nomore - I absolutely love your knitting - it's amazing!! Can't wait to see babytoomuch wearing them

Hope everyone is well - Gilly hope the last day at work went well!

Speak soon

mistlethrush · 06/08/2008 14:35

Gilly - drop in on your way passed! (not kidding!)

Yes, both families quite good. Fil has been over for an emergency baby sit (last time I ended up at A&E following having a paracetamol); mil has been to look after for the odd day here and there. My parents also help - when I go down for rehearsals to the south they quite often cope with no assistance for the two days, and they are hoping to come up to help with ds's first week at school - where he will only be going in for short periods of time each day - it will be easier when he does a more normal week as I'll be able to do proper work hours then.
