Thought it was time we had a new home, seeing as we've almost outgrown the old one. So in honour to Scorpio, Sybil, BB and toomuch (hope I didn't forget anyone ) here we are - in the company of pregnant (and cheerful) ladies

I would imagine that Millie's hb was high becuase you were understandably anxious. Glad she's Ok though

mistlethrush · 16/04/2008 16:32

Scorpio is there any chance you could find a good accupuncturist just to try everything to avoid being induced? Is it ceratin that helps cervix to become 'favourable'? If so, if I remember correctly from NCT classes, plenty of 'stimulation' would help - get dh on the case!

I ended up on drip last time as didn't dilate, so know what the problems can be if you end up being induced - hope it doesn't get that far though.

scorpio1 · 16/04/2008 15:12

i had a MW appt today at 10-45am, Millies HB was very high, so i had to go to other clinic for CTG monitoring for about 45 mins. then i had a sweep, her heart was ok. Sweep was fine. She said cervix not favourable yet, but is soft, sweep v easy to do.

Induce a week today.

Sorry - I meant porridge oats! You can tell I'm uninitiated in the joys of porridge eating!

mistlethrush · 16/04/2008 13:56

?packet of porridge??? I have a packet of porridge oats, but they usually get tipped into a cereal container to make it less messy...

Dh likes his porridge on 5mins on half power. I do ds's 1.5mins on full power, and I do mine for 2mins on full power (when I'm having it). Don't do porridge every morning though as you don't get some of the goodness from things. Good way to start the morning though.

hobnobs · 16/04/2008 13:28

I do have an as yet unopened packet of porridge I bought for when my parents came to stay but didn't use in the end (my dad is a life-long porridge fan but my mum always used to moan about the mess it made!) Think I will go for the microwave option as I am lazy . Thanks for tips about adding bits to make it more interesting.

Oh, btw, hobnobs we quite often make porridge in the microwave - just need to make sure that it doesn't go everywhere, so put bowl on a plate. We often add things to make it more interesting: raisens plump up really nicely when its cooking, and I also like sunflower seeds in it for the same reason.

mistlethrush · 16/04/2008 12:21

'Why- are we wai-ting, why- are we waiting...'!

Scorpio - have you tried a hot curry recently? Pineapple? Hope sweep goes well - have heard of them being very sucessful at starting things off, so fingers crossed that it will.

hobnobs · 16/04/2008 11:25

Where is Millie?

For the Zooper Zydeco enthusiasts, Nomore and Ready, if you search Mumsnet, you'll find a few positive comments about them from Nappyaddict though she did say she had to get it from ebay as she couldn't find a stockist in the UK either which rather ruins your pram playing plans! There must be somewhere - go on, Ready, email them!

Well, I survived my first acupuncture appointment. As Mistlethrush said, the needles don't hurt (though was a bit freaked out by the one I could see sticking out of my forehead at the start). She did say she'd never seen anyone frown quite so much when she pushed it in. We spent a long time talking about my history at the start (tried not to laugh when she made me stick my tongue out a few times - the tongue being important in TCM). She also mentioned Chinese herbs so said I'd do a bit of research and think about that - from what I've read, they taste disgusting! She also suggested that I start temping so we can see which part of my cycle might need attention. Have been thinking about doing it for ages so now have the impetus - not sure I've got the right sort of thermometer - does it matter?

Mistlethrush In answer to your question, we had a lovely weekend - we went to Stratford - saw a play and ate lots of lovely food. Didn't manage as much BD-ing leading up to the weekend as had hoped for various reasons though did at least manage it on my peak day. Being realistic, not holding out too much hope though feel strangely optimistic after my acupuncture appt yesterday . She also told me I'm a cold person and should try to eat warming foods such as porridge . Have never eaten porridge so might save that until the weekend to try!

nomoremagnolia · 15/04/2008 23:13

I second Aunty Gilly - please come out and play Millie

Sorry about the stockists... there must be a UK retailer, there has to be. I feel a tad fraudulent emailing them to ask - reminds me of Lottie's nursery phone call ... although I would defo be up for a trip to Dublin on a reconnaissance mission

Good luck with the sweep tomorrow Scorpio, try not to worry.

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 16:33

i had shiatsu today; DH is being very good

I have a sweep tomorrow morning. [eek]

toomuchtimeonline · 15/04/2008 15:11

hello everyone (other than Millie - who rudely has decided not to join us yet )!!

We've been very busy haven't we.. off to catch up properly.. however just quickly Ms Ready - I am very at you!! I love the pram and I go to stockists and the only one in vicinity is ruddy Dublin!!!!!!! How are we going to have a go!!!?? I want one now [huffy lip emotion]

mistlethrush · 15/04/2008 15:04

Scorpio - that's lovely - we'd have gone for that apart from the £! Got a new mattress for a 2nd hand cot and that's worked fine though - and now in Ikea bed.

So, what are you doing to encourage Millie? Is dh doing his part? I had accupuncture to try to encourage things after 37 wks - don't know whether this resulted in ds being 1 week early or not (probably not what you want to hear, sorry) . Are there any roads with humps nearby? Got a trampoline?

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:09

i want this...will work on DH

Mimi will have a moses basket for the first couple of months.

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:08

i had shiatsu today Mimi still very much in-situ though, lady said i am a ripe melon, LOL!!

I'm having a sweep tomorrow, a bit about it, a bit frightened tbh. I sort of feel like natures way has failed this time? They will want to induce me a week tomorrow, which means a week tonight i will have to go in.

mistlethrush · 15/04/2008 14:06

Hobnobs - enjoy the accupuncture - am going myself this evening too. Don't worry about the needles either!

Did you have a good weekend?

hobnobs · 15/04/2008 12:58

Well, I go away for the weekend and miss quite a lot. Still no Millie though?

Gilly Good to hear your experience of the HSG as well. My consultant is in St. Albans but they will need to refer us to another hospital for Assisted Conception - if it's on the NHS, it will be the Hammersmith, though it's also possible that we'll end up going private (to avoid running out of time), in which case the doctor I saw last time, recommended UCH. Need to do a bit more research on that before the next appointment.

I finally got the results of the Day 2 tests last week - after some to-ing and fro-ing between the consultant's secretary (who wasn't allowed to give them out to me) and my GP. They all seem normal - LH is 5.2 which I'm relieved about. Was a bit worried about the oestradiol reading - 89 pmol/l (which converts to 24.24 pg/ml) and seems to be at the bottom end of the limit that Zita West (and others give) of 25-75. As all the research I've done focusses on problems with it being too high, not quite sure what, if any, are the implications of it being too low. Anyway, finally given up and decided that I'm probably worrying unnecessarily!

Poppy Good luck with the Clomid.

Kensgirl Hope that this week is better - sounds like your mum is being a bit of a pain. Hope you had that bar of Cadburys.

Well, I've had fun looking at the cots etc Ready / Nomore I liked the bedside ones you linked to though they wouldn't work in our bedroom. Am intrigued by the Amby - had always assumed that a newborn would just go in in a moses basket but love the idea of being able to rock him or her. Like the Zydeco too.

Have got my first acupuncture appointment this evening. No idea what to expect so should be interesting!

Big wave to everyone else

mistlethrush · 14/04/2008 22:00

I like the brown and the red colours. You'd never get us looking at anything other than a 3 wheeler, so I approve!

Come on Millie... Don't keep us waiting on tenterhooks much longer please!

Ready · 14/04/2008 21:23

Now... I know I said I didn't like 3 wheels... but this just doesn't seem to bother me... I like it

Ready · 14/04/2008 20:42

I think I may have found a rival for the Bug... but I fear it may be too good to be true. I like the look of them, but it doesn't cost the earth - there must be a catch!!
