Soy Isoflavones - advice pls

Could anyone with experience using soy isoflavones help please.

Want to give this a go as my cycles vary 35 to 40days. Currently waiting for AF to arrive anytime today or tomorrow.

Natures Best have some but dose seem a little confusing, they've "chosen to isolate isoflavones from soya", so isoflavones only 50mg. But then under the Formula it says 50,000 soya bean extract.

Please can someone advice if this would be the right one to buy. Equally any other places to buy from that are trustworthy

Hi all,

Just jumping on in case anyone is searching for soy isoflavones and ttc.

I took them last cycle cd 2-6, started on 160mg for days 2,3 and 4 and upped to 200 for days 5 and 6.

It was the only thing I did different this month and got my BFP on 8DPO after not even a hint of a line for 7 months after a CP. I’m now 4 weeks 5 days pregnant. Could be a coincidence but thought I’d add my experience.

Hello

Just an update here;
Last month I took soy Isoflavones day 1-5.
I ovulated day 16.
My luteal phase was 13 days

This month I did not take soy Isoflavones.
I ovulated day 17
My luteal phase was 14 days.

Overall the months I have taken them vs the months I haven't have made no difference so I won't take them again going forward.

Plumchumm · 29/04/2024 20:44

Please don't take soy. I've taken them two cycles - both cycles I got pregnant and I experienced early loss on both.

I also have irregular long cycles. I think soy helps you ovulate but it also messes up the balance of hormones which increases risk of early loss.

Personally - I have 36 to 60+ day cycles. I induced a bleed using progesterone pill and then withdrawing it. I took soy for 5 days. On day 20 I ovulated. 11 dpo I got a positive. By 5 weeks I was bleeding and lost it. Same thing happened on the second round, though I took the maximum and ovulated later, still miscarried around 5 weeks.

I have had another pregnancy before these without soy, which was healthy.

Hows everyone getting on?

This cycle I only took 120mg throughout 3-7, as last cycle my ovulation was late by 2days and put ig down to too much SI. Anyway I'm CD30 and I've either missed my ovulation or still waiting for it. I usually ovulate on day 22 of a 35day cycle.

See photo, I started testing LH on cd17 and since then it's been really low. My usual is 0.15 / 0.25 but this cycle theyve all been significantly low and today I got 0!! 😲 Is it possible I had my peak a day or two before cd17 and that was me coming down?? I've never ovulated this early just seems so bizarre. CD17 test was only on a 3 hour hold I did wonder its abit high as would only get 0.35 on a 5hour+ hold. But ignored it as cd18 was back to normal. Inconveniently I didnt test CD21 and CD22🤦‍♀️. But my rise usually starts 2days before peak so I wouldve seen something on CD20 I'm telling myself

I've been checking BBT and that's also suggesting I've ovulated as the temps are high (but I've just recovered from a cold so dont know)

So confused, any thoughts?

Soy Isoflavones - advice pls

Hello

I'm cd12 here. Taking SI again this month, I dunno why, just to see what happens I guess! Not "trying" this month or next because I wouldn't have wanted my birthday to be in December or January haha.

I don't count AF as luteal phase as that is "day 1" I think??
I had really bad spotting last cycle for about 4 days before AF arrived.

JS5 · 03/04/2024 08:42

Hows everyone getting on?

Im CD3 today and my flow is much better and less clotting. I started both SI and Ubiquinol last cycle so not sure which has helped. My ovulation it was 2days late and my luteal phase was 1day short so not sure no success using SI last month

When counting days in luteal phase, do we count the AF day too? If counting then my luteal phase was 13days, if excluding then my lutueal phase was 12days

@chutney1 congratulations!! Wishing you all the very best xx

I am back to cd 3.
Had bright red spotting 10dpo then brownish discharge every now and then til 14dpo when my period started. No idea if soy Isoflavones are doing anything positive for me at all.

Currently trying to decide if we might have a couple of months off. I wouldn't like to have my birthday at Xmas or January!

chutney1 · 20/03/2024 16:20

@JS5 oh great I'm glad you got your rise!
This is my first cycle on soys, 10th cycle since my last miscarriage, after trying for 5 months to get pregnant that time. So it's been a while but not ridiculously long. I hope this one sticks too!
I have got quite a few bits planned the next few weeks so I'm hoping that it goes by fairly quickly and no dramas.

fingers crossed for you this TWW!

JS5 · 20/03/2024 15:27

@chutney1 wow congratulations 🎉🎉 hoping a sticky bean 🤞🤞. What cycle is this? Do you have any plans to keep busy the next few weeks, it will probably help keep the intrusive thoughts out and relax.

So the day I posted above on 16th, was luckily the first day LH rise, then peak on 17th and I ovulated on 18th, according to drop in bbt temp. Last cycle I struggled with temping as I'd wake up a few times in the night panicking I've missed temping time. This cycle I decided not to temp until few days before ovulation. It took a couple of days but did manage to switch off and not think of temping at all. I did get slight pains the day before and on Ov day, not sure I would've caught it without opks, who knows, would be an interesting experiment, but not sure if I want to risk a cycle 😬

hi everyone - my positive line has stayed with me and gotten stronger. I'm testing like a mad woman every morning first thing, watching out in case it gets weak as thats what happened with my miscarriage last year. fingers crossed it sticks!
I've been using progesterone cream since i ovulated, and I'm also taking 100mg B6. As I've had two miscarriages before, I've got an early scan at 6 weeks and will get prescribed progesterone then as long as it's a viable pregnancy. I'm so hopeful, and quite anxious!

@JS5 I really feel for you, i found that using the OPKs mega stressed me out, I had to give them up last year after a few months because it was making me obsessive and taking all the joy out of sex a bit. i had a very short, sharp rise which i could easily miss and then worry about it non stop. I usually try to do it every other day from the end of my period onwards until I get ovulation pain, as that takes the pressure off the ovulation week and makes it a bit less exhausting. do you get ovulation pain or any other signs?

@itsLKtoday i think the theory of the soys is that they increase your estrogen to make you ovulate stronger/sooner and then the more mature egg is supposed to produce more progesterone?! but i could be wrong about that, i think i read it on a forum somewhere not necessarily medical advice!

JS5 · 16/03/2024 20:12

I ran out of opk so couldn't test yesterday, got some today and tested and LH is high but not sure if its going up or coming down and we've not been able to dtd at all this cycle was waiting for rise 😭. Also rise in temp this morning as usually day after ovulation, and to make things worse forgot to temp yesterday morning so no way of confirming if ovulated already or not😭😭

But my LH was normal the day before yesterday (on 14th). Previous cycles the journey from LH rise to LH peak takes about 24hrs, and then usually ovulate the day after (48hrs after 1st rise). So best case scenario if LH started rising yesterday, today would've been the peak and tomorrow ovulation (even tho temp suggesting otherwise), will have confirmation after tomorrows temp. Its so bizarre, wondering if taking SI shortened my LH rise and fall this cycle

Hows everyone else getting on

@itsLKtoday i completely get you with wanting to test as dpo progress. I struggle the most at 10dpo itching to test! Do you have any plans to keep distracted?

CD20 today and would usually get my first +opk/ LH rise, but still low. So likely delayed ovulation. I think I'll try lower dose next month.

One thing I've noticed this cycle taking SI, is that my daily LH levels have been lower around 0.19 and test line is lighter, when it's usually 0.30 and lines are darker.

Hi all.

I'm 4dpo and playing the game "I'm not even all that bothered, I'm happy with my lot" which will last another few days before I start frantically symptom checking and googling implantation bleeding 🤪

I didn't used to suffer pms symptoms at all but in the last year have had terrible nausea and sore boobs and spotting for up to 4 days before AF.
I had very few symptoms with my first two other than absolutely disgust at milk and chicken on the bone which wasn't helped as I worked with testers for rancid milk (long story 😅) but did have implantation bleed at around 14dpo (I guess, I wasn't testing) with both.

I don't think that soy Isoflavones have an influence on luteal phase or progesterone as we take them in the follicular phase which all about estrogen.
I believe I've solved (more or less) spotting with vitamin c and b + Angus Castus at least helping reduce symptoms which may be due to increasing progesterone.

JS5 · 13/03/2024 12:05

@TTCbaby1soph It's so bizarre how taking SI, can ovulate late one month but then early the next. I wonder what other factors play a part in SI effectiveness!

@chutney1 ooo so exciting!! Fingers crossed for you let's have a good news here 🤞

OP posts:
chutney1 · 13/03/2024 10:21

i have a vvvfl on a cheapy today at 9dpo 😬
not sure if it's a real one or sticky one so i'll keep you updated for those trying the soys!

TTCbaby1soph · 12/03/2024 19:16

@chutney1 the first cycle of 32 days I Od late on CD20 so had a 12 day Luteal.
The second cycle using soy just gone now I Od CD 15 and had an 11 day Luteal (I just rechecked Flo) 26 days total.
before this depending on Cycle I would generally O around CD 14/15/16

chutney1 · 12/03/2024 15:52

@TTCbaby1soph ah that's interesting - did you ovulate sooner than normal with them on both cycles?

TTCbaby1soph · 12/03/2024 14:05

@chutney1 it seems it lengthened my Luteal phase to 32 days from 25-26 the first month but this cycle using them back to 25 day cycle. I think I’m going to give them a break this month and see what my cycle does by itself. Didn’t have much time to dtd as dp was away

chutney1 · 12/03/2024 10:40

I've got friends coming over this Friday for dinner so I'll test before that, as if it's negative I'll have a glass of wine (or two!)
usually my luteal phase is only 10-11 days, so my period would start by Friday anyway, but I'm hoping the soys will have made it longer, and maybe not until Monday - fingers crossed!
Knowing me, I'll probably cave and get tempted to test tomorrow/Thursday!

JS5 · 12/03/2024 10:35

@chutney1 No side effects from taking SI, I even ended up taking quite abit on the last day (320mg). Maybe I took too much, let's see. I'm using easyathome opk which usually starts rising cd19-21

Yes it seems that the symptoms for bfp and af are same which makes it very tricky to know. When are you planning to test?

OP posts:
chutney1 · 12/03/2024 10:27

@JS5 hopefully it starts soon! do you usually get any ovulation signs?
I wish i had taken OPKs!
I'm 8dpo now and have really sore massive boobs! this is typical for me during pms though. I always thought this was a sign of low progesterone, but I've been using a progesterone cream this cycle and took the soys so maybe not?! it's hard to tell sometimes, when i look things up it says that everything can cause pretty much every symptom so it's a bit of a guessing game!

Did you get any side effects from the soys?

JS5 · 12/03/2024 10:02

Hows everyone getting on?

@chutney1 glad it brought your ovulstion forward. I'm CD18 and still no sign. I usually ovulate CD22, really hoping it's not had the opposite effect and delayed it even further!

OP posts:
chutney1 · 09/03/2024 10:51

hi everyone, just got back from a week away.
the soy isoflavones brought my ovulation forward to day 14 this month (usually day 17!) so that's a good sign - still waiting to see if it will lengthen my luteal phase too.
I can't be 100% sure as i only went by ovulation pain, as i forgot to take OPKs on my holiday (woops!) but i think it was day 14 or day 15. i'll let you know what happens to the luteal phase!
I'm pretty sure I'm out this month as i've started PMS already, similar to the usual sore boobs etc, but it's good to see the ovulation change!

TTCbaby1soph · 09/03/2024 10:32

Hi Ladies, I’m not banking on the month as I said above I didn’t get that much chance to dtd during fertile window. I’m about ten days past O today so if anything I’m just hoping it lengthens my Luteal phase like last month. I’m close to just giving it all up completely now and just leaving it up to God.
strangely though at 7dpo after sex I was so convinced I was coming on my period as had same cramps and a streak of pink in CM on wiping during the day, not sure what that could be. I usually get a little bit of CM I’ve noticed the day before AF. Anywho I would love to hear some good news on this thread soon!

JS5 · 08/03/2024 15:58

@itsLKtoday ah sorry to hear it's not brought O forward...but on the good side atleast it's not delayed, that's my biggest concern. I usually on CD22, currently CD14 ...let's see!

Wishing you all the best this cycle😊 🌠
