Not pregnant after chemical

Hey guys, I believe I had a chemical pregnancy in December. I had several faint positive tests that got more faint over several days. I read so many success stories of people conceiving the month after a chemical so was hoping I would. I am now on day 2 of a new cycle so did not conceive this month. I am feeling really down about it and worried this might never happen for me. Did anyone conceive soon after a chemical but not the month after?

@Millie1501 I hope your hubby feels better soon!! You never know it might just take one try! Whats really throwing me off was getting my BFP on basically the first real attempt and now 5 months on nothing. I know I'm not out this month yet but its so hard to be optimistic with AF cramping haha!! Did anyone else find they felt they were getting AF before BFP?

Millie1501 · 30/01/2024 11:37

@Lou739 I get that, it’s so horrible seeing a negative test. It get worse over time as well. Maybe wait a couple of more days and that way you will get a clear result.
I am doing ok, getting close to ovulation but my husband is ill so don’t know if we will be able to try this month, see how he feels as the week progresses. I’m getting so impatient, just want to be pregnant lol

@Millie1501 12/13 dpo today serious mood swings and continued cramping but its hard to know if its just AF on the way. When I got my BFP in August before the chemical I was convinced I was getting my period. I'm too afraid to test cus if its negative I'll be so disappointed! How are u?

Millie1501 · 30/01/2024 11:17

@Lou739 how are you getting on?

Yes , You'll read lots of ladies posting about how easy it was the month after , but there's also alot of women like myself who didn't get pregnant immediately after a chemical. Don't put so much pressure on yourself

Lou739 · 29/01/2024 15:54

Thank you everyone currently 12 DPO I wont test early just due to worry from previous chemical but very much feel AF coming (usual cramps etc) altho when I got my BFP in August I was convinced AF was coming too... the ttw is torture! x

Rosesanddaisies1 · 27/01/2024 18:44

It took me 4 cycles after a miscarriage, which I fully expected. There’s only something like a 25% chance each cycle so it’s very normal to take a few months. There’s no rush, make sure you are feeling physically and emotionally ready to try again. We waited a few months after MC before trying again, glad we did. Let yourself feel sad, don’t avoid the feelings.

Lou739 · 27/01/2024 18:41

I was the same after my chemical I just wanted to conceive asap to help with the sadness but now 5 months on I’m in a much better head space and now really hoping for my bfp I’m so delighted for the ladies who conceive quickly after; and those that are still waiting we’ll get there. 9/10 dpo and lots of fluttery cramping in lower stomach and extremely tired… but I know I’m also symptom spotting so taking it all with a pinch of salt x

Millie1501 · 26/01/2024 13:31

@twodoorsup and @justanotherlaura awww I am happy to hear you both got pregnant soon after. I think I really wanted to get pregnant straight after so I didn’t have to feel sad about the chemical got too long. I just have to deal with it now and hope I will fall pregnant again and it will stick.

@Lou739 the tww is torture, I’m not looking forward to mine this month. It’s impossible not to symptom spot. 🤞 it’s a bfp for you soon

I had a chemical December 2021, I fell pregnant my second cycle after it. I was devastated that first month when i got AF I'd been pinning all my hopes on getting pregnant again straight away and I think it was delayed grief as I cried every day of that second cycle until I got my bfp... then of course was the weeks of torture worrying if the chemical would happen again! Thankfully that pregnancy went to full term and he's 1 now!

twodoorsup · 26/01/2024 11:10

I had a chemical in the November, didn't get pregnant the next month (I was absolutely gutted/convinced almost everyone conceived the month after a chemical) but I did get pregnant the month following. Wishing you all the best. TTC is hard

Lou739 · 26/01/2024 10:26

I'm now around 8/9 dpo and fear i'm convincing myself I feel twinges in my lower belly altho my breasts are quite heavy but I don't think that's pregnancy as I've felt this since 6/7 dpo. This is the first month since the chemical that I've allowed myself to get my hopes up so fingers crossed and how you are all doing well x

Millie1501 · 25/01/2024 22:37

I’m on day 7 of my cycle so haven’t ovulated yet. We need to start dtd soon as I like to start early just in case I ovulate early. Me and my little one have covid atm, I suspect my husband will fall ill with it soon so that will be interesting 😤

Lou739 · 25/01/2024 15:24

I would usually text from 10 dpo but I found I was spending a fortune and in a bad mood every time it was negetive so I’m trying to wait till at least 14 dpo when I got my BFP last august. what stage are you at this month? I’ve a good feeling about early 2024 hopefully !! I’ll keep my optimism until AF arrives

Millie1501 · 25/01/2024 14:56

@Lou739 I get why you disheartened, hopefully this is your month 🤞. When are you planning on taking a test? Or do you wait until you’re late?

Lou739 · 24/01/2024 22:47

Thank you for getting back I’ve wanted to join a chat for a while but was just really disheartened 5 cycles on after the chemical and no success. I currently 6/7 dpo and hopefully optimistic be afraid to get my hopes up :) doctor said chemical means u can get pregnant which is a good sign…

Millie1501 · 24/01/2024 22:07

@Lou739 of course you can join the chat. Sorry to hear about your chemical and that you haven’t conceived yet afterwards. I can understand your frustration especially as you conceived on the 2nd month initially. I keep trying to remind myself that a chemical can be a positive sign as we managed to conceive that month we probably will again. It is difficult I know. What day of your current cycle are you on?

OP posts:
Lou739 · 24/01/2024 21:30

I hope you don’t mind me joining the chat ladies just hoping for some support on the journey. I had a chemical in august just before 5 weeks conceived on 2nd try was delighted and now another 5 months of trying again nothing… any advice or good news stories x

Millie1501 · 21/01/2024 21:49

Yeah I know there is no clear evidence of an increase in fertility after a chemical. But a lot of people do conceive soon after and whether that’s a coincidence or not, it is obviously what someone who has experienced a loss like that will be hoping for. But there are no guarantees and I am aware that I may never conceive again but I do like hearing stories of people conceiving soon after anyway. I do understand what you are saying though and I appreciate your thoughts, I don’t disagree with what you are saying at all.

Hopefully we all get out bfp soon though 🤞

@Haylsttc reading comments like yours really give me home. Like you, I had unrealistic hopes that I'd be pregnant straight after our CP but unfortunately I didn't either. That was April of last year, we're now on cycle 10 since then and total cycle 12 so I just hope it happens for us soon

Haylsttc · 21/01/2024 14:05

I agree with @Endomummy I think it is just a myth that you’re more fertile after a chemical or miscarriage and it can sadly set a lot of people up for disappointment and putting unnecessary pressure on themselves, me being one of those people!

I had a missed miscarriage last year, it only took us two cycles to conceive that pregnancy. However six cycles of trying again after the missed miscarriage and I’m still not pregnant. In the first few months I really beat myself up about it. However I’ve since done a lot of research, read a lot of forum threads and realised a lot of people take closer to 12 cycles to fall pregnant after loss. Weirdly knowing this has made me feel a lot more positive about the situation as it’s not abnormal to take longer and our time will come soon.

I just wanted to share a very realistic story to help others also getting themselves down about this. Wishing you the best of luck and I hope you get your bfp soon ❤️

Endomummy · 21/01/2024 13:18

I had a chemical December 2022 and I’m still ttc :( it’s a myth that you’re more fertile afterwards. I did have private and nhs tests done and both consultants said it’s normal to take 12 months (or more). I am just beyond that now but had a few months of bad timing in FW so telling myself I have a few more attempts…. I’m saying this because I found it so hard not conceiving quickly when all I saw online was people saying they conceived fast after, it makes an already shit situation so much worse.

Millie1501 · 20/01/2024 19:52

@Angelselevenx good luck 🤞, hopefully this is your month

OP posts:
Angelselevenx · 20/01/2024 15:57

@Millie1501 fingers crossed, I'm due to O today or tomorrow. I've got my nhs referral appointment next month so this is the final cycle before they do further investigations!

Millie1501 · 20/01/2024 15:41

I know how you feel, it’s so difficult isn’t it. You never know, you may conceive during the process of tests etc. I’ve heard of that happening to people. Also you are only 9dpo so your not out this cycle yet 🤞
