Pregnant whilst on maternity leave

Hi,

I am currently on maternity leave from an NHS job, I have just had a positive pregnancy test… This was not planned and happened whilst I was ‘thinking’ about what contraception to have.

My question is does anyone know how my maternity leave entitlement and pay will work as the two maternity leaves will overlap?

It will all work out and you’re not the first this has happened to. Women go to their 6 week check up already pregnant again.

Congratulations! People will raise their eyebrows or make comments but it’s none of their business.

Im 5 months in to my current maternity leave, I would be due this pregnancy in October/November… my first born will have just turned one! I have all of my annual leave from 2023, plus the leave from 2024… so I most likely wouldn’t return to post.

My friend had two back to back maternity leaves. She ‘returned’ to work using her annual leave and then started another maternity leave. Full entitlement both times but not NHS.

How far into your maternity are you. I returned to work 3/4 months pregnant, worked until 38 weeks and then started another maternity leave. Are you thinking that you will not return to work between now and DC2's due date?
