So my baby girl was born 10th Sept by c section 7lb 5oz. She is beautiful. Unfortunately I developed a infection in my wound and was re admitted to hosp for 7 days where I contracted mrsa. Was quite poorly for a bit until they sorted the correct antibiotics and finally came hime sunday. Healing well now and enjoying our bundle of love .

Hello! @KittyFantasticai wanted to send you huge congratulations, but sending you a huge hand hold as you go through the NICU journey and processing the birth. please, please take it easy on yourself - you have been through (and are going through) so so much. lean on your other half, your family, friends and the support offered through midwives, nurses and HVs. you will get home healthy and happy with baby soon, hold on to that thought and anything else that gives you the strength you need right now. sending a huge amount of love and my very best wishes, im always here if you want to chat to someone. i just wish i could offer more support ♥️ xxx

Racket81 · 16/08/2025 21:28

Congratulations. Sorry you had such a traumatic time but im glad ypu have got your baby boy. I have another 3 weeks left till my c section and can't wait to meet my little girl. Im huge and so is she apparently and im well cooked.

WonderingAboutBabies · 16/08/2025 19:46

@KittyFantastica congratulations 💗..I participated in this thread early on and have been reading the updates. Just wanted to pop on and say I am a fellow NICU mum. My girl was born in December a couple of weeks early via csection too. It was absolutely awful being in hospital over Christmas and seeing her so poorly.

I left with a lot of emotions and was constantly crying but it really does get better over time. Your NICU/midwife team should offer a birth debrief when youre ready, so you can ask all the questions and understand what happened fully, it really helped us get a bit of closure, I really recommend it.

It's now 8 months down the line. My girl is 8 months and an absolute dream. My scar is fine and I'm back to normal exercise levels.

Wishing you all the best and happy to answer any questions if you need xx

KittyFantastica · 16/08/2025 16:56

Hi everyone, I wanted to pop back in and wish you all the absolute best and so much luck.

I haven't been on in a long, long time as after losing two early pregnancies and then a little boy at 19 weeks, when I fell pregnant again in January, it became too difficult to even acknowledge. I just couldn’t talk about it after 16 weeks. We only told about 8 people the whole time.

Our second little boy was born 7 weeks early two weeks ago. We’re still in NICU due to feeding issues, and it’s honestly been hell. I ended up needing a cerclage to prevent another 2nd trimester loss, but my waters went one night at home at 33 weeks. I laboured for five hours with the stitch in as no one was available to remove it, and when they were, it all went down hill so quickly.

They tried to remove the stitch with no pain relief three times before moving to theatre where the spinal block failed, my blood pressure shot up and baby’s heart rate plummeted, so ended up with a Cat 1 emergency section under general anaesthetic. My husband had to leave the room in tears, we didn’t know if we’d ever see each other or our baby again. Neither of us were ‘present’ for his birth, and being in NICU is a special kind of hell.

Despite all this, I know how truly blessed we are to even have the chance to bring our baby home, and I think of this thread often. For years we wondered if it would ever happen for us. Nothing has ever been happy or ideal, but we keep going. The pregnancy was horrifically painful throughout, I ended up in bed rest for four months, and his birth will be traumatising forever. It’s a stark reminder that, when we see someone walking down the road pregnant and seemingly perfect, there can be so much going on underneath.

i hope you’re all doing well.

Racket81 · 09/07/2025 10:54

Yes my first was a mercy section afyer fu.dialation amd.pushimg for 2.hours. my second.was natural.just gas amd.sir but had a 3b degree tear so I ajd to jabe a spinal.after giving birth and go theatre to be stitched up.. I lost a.lot of.blood with both so no chances being taken this time.. bit I hear a planned section such different to.emergemxy amd.recovsry will be much easier.. I just hope they dont give me 13th Sept as thays my youngest sons.birrhday and as im a seperated parent.from their dad I dont want.it to impose on his birthday. X

RW269 · 09/07/2025 10:48

Ahh so they can be quite inaccurate really then!
Awwh it is nice though to see them that little bit extra at the growth scans isn’t it?
We’ve been advised to have a c section booked, they’re going to assess every growth scan to see when they want to do it. Bit anxious cause first birth I thought it would just be a smooth birth and the thought of the c section terrifies me but they said it’s the safest for baby so I’ll just have to deal with that haha!
Awwh yeah we will likely be within a week or so of each other depending when we have them! ☺️

Slightly more unusual than I would normally go for but I like it and middle name after my late mum who I lost to cancer so Eden Marian.

@RW269 thays great news will loom forward to finding out what I'm having at 20 weeks. Do you knkw your gender yet

RW269 · 10/04/2025 23:36

@KittyFantastica i have absolutely everything in the world crossed for you that you’re able to get some help and manage to get to a point where baby can come safely. I think about you often and I’ve been hoping for everything to work out for you. Has the specialist got any kind of review with you booked for after taking the antibiotics? See how things are going? Oh definitely have the kidneys checked, for your own health as well as otherwise! Sending you so much love and praying for you to get through to where they can come safely xx
