15dpo BFN withdrawal method

Hello

just looking for advice or stories from others really. My OH and I are planning on TTC this year.

last month was let’s say a “warm up” month where we used the withdrawal method. Yes I know this isn’t conception. A baby would be very welcomed.

i also know chances of conception from withdrawal method are slim.

however my period is now 2 days late (15dpo). No sign of her coming except cramps. I always spot the day before and nothing. 2 BFN (yesterday when period due and today). Came off the pill last July and been like clockwork with 28 day cycles on the nose.

what’s going on?! Would I have a BFP by now if I really was pregnant?

Got a tiny bit of spotting this eve so I’m hoping full AF tomorrow. 5 days later than expected !

@ToeBeans24 arghh same the worst headaches!

Wictc · 16/01/2024 19:13

Yes, I had cramps on and off. Then they stopped for a while, then my period came out of nowhere!!

Hope you get your period soon!

ToeBeans24 · 16/01/2024 18:15

@blgld sounds like a plan!

had a bad headache today and feel very grouchy so I feel (hope) she will be here later today if not tomorrow 🤞🏻!

@ToeBeans24 no I've not tested and don't plan to unless I become really late. I'm currently going with the theory I must've ovulated very late (or maybe twice?!) given all the late on ewcm so perhaps period will also be late. I'll test this weekend if still nothing but think it's so unlikely to be positive.

What about you? AF with you yet?!

ToeBeans24 · 15/01/2024 21:41

@blgld have you tested btw?!

no I don’t do OPKs. Prior to this I was very certain when I ovulated. God knows what’s going on this cycle !

@blgld it really does seem like we are in very similar situations !!! Is your partner the same age?

i do think men (most not all) take longer to come around to the idea. Women (again not all!) tend to be the most maternal don’t we!

a lot of our friends are having / have had babies recently which has helped lol.

i feel awful but whenever there’s another pregnancy announced I’m floored. It’s like I am genuinely so SO happy for our friends. But I have a little cry each time as I want it so badly.

it’s the unknown isn’t it. Wanting to get started as unsure how long it will take etc!

@ToeBeans24 I could've written your whole first paragraph!! Only difference is I've just turned 33 already. The wobble I mentioned is very much my partner, we had a plan but he suddenly changed his mind and wants to wait a bit longer. At first I was gutted as I've felt so ready for a while and have lots of reasons for wanting to sooner rather than later. But last thing I want to do is pressure him or for him not to be as excited as me so holding off it is. Withdrawal is us getting used to the idea together. And now here I am hoping for AF because I've got a little bit too used to this new plan of waiting until later in the year, typical 😆

That sounds really tough but absolutely sounds like you made the right decision for you at that time. I saw someone elsewhere saying the baby that's meant for you will come at the right time. Hopefully your time is this year. Good luck, please keep me updated!

Do you use OPKs? I'm tempted to get a more accurate idea of my O days while the pressure is off anyway, may give them a try next cycle

ToeBeans24 · 15/01/2024 20:32

@blgld hahaha I like your version - dipping your toe 😂

i hope so from next month. It’s something I’ve wanted for a really long time. OH less so but he’s finally come around to the idea. He is a very rational man and loves figures and stats so after giving him a few about time getting more pressing (I’m 33 next month, we are both the same age) and I few others he seems to be on board now!

im hoping things will go well. We did actually have an incident almost 2 years ago. We’d not long met and I actually got pregnant with the copper coil in. It was a really stressful time but due to a number of reasons, despite knowing I desperately did want a baby, it really wasn’t the right time so had to make a very difficult decision. I try not to beat myself up about it though as I do truly believe it was the right decision for a very large number of reasons.

@ToeBeans24 Oh bless you, I hope it's there soon! Hopefully yours will bring mine too 😆

Yes plan to TTC our first soon. We'd actually agreed to go for it from 1st Jan but have had a wobble so 'dipping our toe' as you put it and going by withdrawal for a few months (knowing it's risky obvs, and would still be happy either way). Again similar to you, had been using condoms and came off pill nearly a year ago.

So will you be going for it properly from next month do you think?

Woops 'warm up' even (your username has clearly put toes on my brain 😆)

@blgld sounds v similar to me!

Are you planning on TTC soon too? Don’t feel you have to answer. Just be good to have someone in the same boat next month too 😂

i sometimes get EWCM before AF but only a small amount and not every cycle. But I keep noticing all sorts as I’m a symptom spotting mad woman !

i have health anxiety as it is so this has triggered me massively ! After the negative this evening I’m telling myself I’m not pregnant and I’m willing my AF. I’ve had worse cramps and feel grouchy and irritable so I hope she’s here tomorrow. May just be because of my BFN but hopefully she’s on her way and that’s the course for my bad mood!

I don't track with anything properly, but I'd guess about 15dpo. And I'm being totally dramatic, if it doesn't arrive overnight then currently only one day late...

BUT I feel like crap and that's what's making me wonder if something might be up. I also had ewcm for about 8 days straight, after I was confident I'd already ovulated. I can't find info anywhere that explains what that means?! And it was definitely ewcm.

So first ever month doing withdrawal, the weird extra cm thing, and feeling really under the weather, I'm starting to watch the dates a bit more closely 👀

I'm sure your AF will be with you very soon though - if it helps, last cycle I had awful cramps for quite a few days before, like it really wanted to start but couldn't, and then arrived and was perfectly normal

ToeBeans24 · 15/01/2024 18:34

@Wictc did you have cramps whilst waiting for your AF to show that cycle? I think that’s what’s bothering me because it’s like it wants to start but nothing

OP posts:
ToeBeans24 · 15/01/2024 18:30

@Wictc thank you for replying. It’s just rubbish timing. Got my hopes up and now can’t even move on with trying 😞

OP posts:
Wictc · 15/01/2024 18:23

Try not to worry. This happened to me when we started trying. My cycle is 28 days consistently. It ended up being 48 days that cycle! I ended up going to the doctor. They said it could be down to anything, stress of starting to conceive (even though I didn’t feel stressed). It was very annoying. Happened again a year or so later.

ToeBeans24 · 15/01/2024 18:18

Another stark white BFN 😞
Just want AF now. Starting to worry 😭

@blgld so good to have someone else I can talk to!

How many dpo are you and how many days late?

My period was due Friday so now 3 days ago and it’s still MIA. Thought yesterday would be the day as I had more intense cramps but nowt, nada, zilch !!!

Last took a test yesterday (not FMU) which would have been 2 days late / 16DPO (unless I ov’d later) - BFN!

No other symptoms.

Any news from you @ToeBeans24? I'm in the exact same situation...

ToeBeans24 · 14/01/2024 17:55

@Rosiiee dont worry I need the honesty. Never thought I say it but I just want bloody AF to come!!!

OP posts:
Rosiiee · 14/01/2024 17:44

Eh I honestly don’t think so to be frank with you. But there’s always next cycle 🤞🏻

ToeBeans24 · 14/01/2024 16:28

Me again. Another test today (not FMU). BFN. CD30 / 16DPO. Only symptom is occasional cramps but that’s it. Cervix remains high. V high ! I don’t know what’s going on. Pretty sure I ovulated CD14 based on EWCM and symptoms (and previous cycles). I just want AF now so I can crack on with TTC.

feeling really down today 😞

any chance of a late BFP?!

OP posts:
ToeBeans24 · 14/01/2024 00:50

@rainbow616 thanks for your help 🙏🏻 I’ll keep you posted. Hopefully just a late random month. When I had the copper coil a few years ago, despite it being hormone free, it always effected my cycles and lengthened them to 30-32 days so perhaps this is one of those months despite no contraception at all
