Hello!
I’m currently 9dpo and having a bit a wobble- I keep flitting between hopeful to sad very quickly today. I think I just need some opinions from people who don’t know me and who aren’t just going to say ‘Hopefully’ or ‘fingers crossed’ (which is very sweet but I just need something more than that.

I’m 28, and me and my husband are on cycle 5 of TTC. This month I’ve been using OPKs and BBT. Currently on CD24 which is 9dpo for me- got my static smiley with my ovulation test on CD15 in the morning. We DTD every other day from CD6 up to CD19 so should be plenty of sperm up there to meet the egg!
I was concerned that I wasn’t actually ovulating despite getting a positive OPK so that’s why I started BBT (at first this was a bit of a struggle but I think I’ve got the hang of it now). My ovulation was confirmed on CD6 (one day I had to disregard my temp as I woke up slightly but didn’t temp straight away and temped an hour later when my alarm went off). My BBT has only had one dip on CD2 under the base line but have been quite zig zag like and not showing that upward curve that I would like to indicate pregnancy- I’ll attach a photo below incase we have the BBT experts out there!

My CM has been a mixture of watery and creamy, but I’ve really noticed the watery CM when I actively check and only the creamy CM once it has dried in my pants (often a cream/yellow colour). However, today on CD9 I have started to spot- it mainly is watery CM with a pink tinge- happened this morning with my first morning wee, then had a small amount mid day but my pants had creamy discharge with a slight browny colouring and then tonight I had the same watery discharge with a pink tinge. I have attached some pictures- sorry in advance for TMI or if it’s too graphic.
Picture info-

  • up close image on toilet paper was taken AM on CD9
  • picture of pants was taken mid day
  • toilet paper further away was taken PM on CD9

I would have been excited for this as it could possibly be implantation bleeding but last month I had a very similar experience (spotting started with a mixture of watery and creamy CM from CD23 and continued until CD27 to which it ended in my period).

I did also test this morning and received a BFN. I guess I’m just looking for any happily ever after who had similar situations to me or anyone with experience similar to mine. I think with the mixture of BBT and CM checking I already feel out at just 9dpo which I know is still early.

Might be worth mentioning that When I started to bleed today I thought it was game over so tried to put it out of my mind but me and my OH had sex and no trace of spotting on him or me afterwards. Plus cramps, if that’s what you can even call them has been minimal.

This TTC m’larky is so exhausting, you think it’ll be easy (I always said to people it could take a long while but I hoped deep down it would be super easy) and it’s like one thing after the next in terms of worry. First it’s the worry that you’ll get that positive OPK, then it’s the worry that if you’ll actually ovulate and get the temps to confirm it, not to mention having enough sex (whilst trying not to put too much pressure on you or your OH) and then it’s checking if your CM is right and so on and so on.
My Nan, who knows we’re TTC, said it’s any wonder anyone got pregnant back when she had her babies 😂
Just hope everyone is taking care of themselves whilst on this should be magical journey and wishing baby dust to you all!

Also, thank you for reading my long ramble and taking the time to reply! X

@jenkh91 so sorry it started at work- I get that you want it to start but come on Mother Nature at least at home to have a bit of time to wallow!

Currently in Athens now- it’s not somewhere we’ve been before and probably won’t come back to, but lots of great sights that blow my mind and lots of time chilling which can only do good things for us. Fertile window apparently starts tomorrow and is right up until our last day! Hopefully a holiday will help us- isn’t that one of the common things people say? 😂

thank you very much lovely- it’s easy to get sad about it and it’s a rollercoaster of emotions but it’s not impossible and we just have to keep going!
have you booked you OH in for tests?

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 21/03/2024 18:40

@MissEmily5 i started today, whilst in the office so perfect timing 😂 but tbh feel relieved and ready to start again.

oh that will be so nice! Sounds like it’s well needed, how long are you going for? Hopefully you are away during a little part of your fertile window and that might help!

it’s good you finally have some answers, and although it’s not exactly the news you wanted to hear, the improvements in just a short time are definitely sounding very positive and it’s definitely good news that they’ve told you it’s not impossible. But still doesn’t make it any easier not knowing how long it’s going to take, but fingers crossed it happens soon for you!

MissEmily5 · 20/03/2024 18:50

@jenkh91 did you start properly? It’s definitely a pain when you know your not pregnant and you just want your new cycle to start!

Silver linings get to enjoy the cocktails and all the cheese! We’re going to Athens- love Greek food. First holiday in quite a while so very much needed.

I’ve just had to Google it too! Glad that it doesn’t make a difference to your TTC journey. Yeah, I think it would be the best for your partner to get checked and as it’s quite an easy test for men!
We got our results and had two repeat tests- my blood tests all came back good and I have a good egg reserve. I’ve got a thinner than expected uterine lining- my first scan was at CD30 and my lining was super thin at 2.5mm and it should be about 8-13mm. On my second scan I was on CD20 and it was 5.7mm, again thin but possible for pregnancy. So hopefully the supplements and things I’m taking is helping!
My husband has a low sperm count- first test was 5million and 2nd test was 9million- should be a minimum of 15million. But again an improvement from the test before and it was only a few weeks so hopefully it’ll improve. we’ve just been told it is not impossible but might take a bit extra time 😔

@MissEmily5 I know! When I got to Friday and had nothing I really thought this was it, but no! Last night I started getting bad cramps and back ache and then had the tiniest speck of like pink discharge (sorry tmi) so I think it’s coming, I just need it to start now!

oh I’m sorry AF has arrived for you. Yep I guess that will be nice, you can relax and have some drinks etc, sounds like a holiday is well needed, where are you off to?

ahhh Yh it’s tough when you have a timeline in your mind at the start of the process, it just adds to the stress.

it went ok, she said I have very mild adenomyosis (never heard of it until then!) but she said that shouldn’t be a concern and everything else looks ok, so think my husband needs to get checked now. how was yours?

MissEmily5 · 18/03/2024 20:22

@jenkh91 hello Jen,
I was reading your comment thinking how promising it was but then got to the bit where you said BFN- why do are bodies do this when we want a baby! To give you a bit of hope- my sister tested negative for quite a while even though she was pregnant, nurse just said it’s just one of those things and her pregnancy a healthy.

My period has just arrived this evening- boo! But we go away on holiday at weekend so at least I won’t be on for that.
I’ve got it in my mind now that we only have one more month left to have a baby in 2024, next month a baby will be due in 2025, and for some reason that is making me super sad.

how did your fertility consultation go by the way?

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 18/03/2024 17:32

Hey @MissEmily5 how are you getting on?

AF was due on Friday for me but has still not arrived, not even had any spotting. I had some cramps on and off last week and the day before AF was due I had them on and off all day and thought I would start any second, but then then went away and not a peep since! This is literally the first time in all the years I’ve been tracking my periods that I am late, yet I am testing negative. It’s really so cruel and confusing and just want it to arrive so I can move on.

jenkh91 · 18/02/2024 18:11

@MissEmily5 yep, feeling better that have got this in the works, as you say, whatever the outcome at least it is progress! We’ve also decided this month to do no tracking again but to just dtd every 2 days for 2 weeks. I’ve read a couple of people here say the month they got pregnant they actually dtd a little after predicted ovulation, so thinking maybe need to spread it out a bit - who knows but worth a try!

how are you getting on? You must be due AF soon?

MissEmily5 · 17/02/2024 21:14

@jenkh91 I’m so sorry that AF came. It’s rough- I hope that month 7 brings lots of luck for you!
Hopefully with the tests you get the answers or the reassurance that it is just a matter of time- we get our results in 2 weeks time and it’s a comfort to know by the end of the month we will have a clearer idea :)

As for the results, they won’t tell us anything until we’ve both completed our tests and we’ll find out during the consultation and they will be able explain everything in detail and give us our options if needed.

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 16/02/2024 10:23

Hey @MissEmily5 AF has arrived for me so on to month 7. I was really starting to think this was my month!

but I’ve started the ball rolling with fertility clinic for tests so I can at least get either peace of mind or a plan in place!

It’s good you have the tests soon, did you hear anything back about your partners tests yet?

MissEmily5 · 15/02/2024 20:40

@jenkh91 10dpo is still really early, but I totally get your disappointment. I’m only 7/8dpo and already can feel the need to test! 😩 I’m going to try and hold out till Sunday which will make me 10/11dpo.

today you’ll be around due right? Hope you got good news! 🤞

I haven’t had any symptoms really, just tired and weirdly itchy breasts. But really not expecting anything from this month at all- all my focus is just getting them test results (my gut says there is something wrong so that’s why I’m not getting my hopes up!)

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 13/02/2024 09:50

Hey @MissEmily5 i think I’m 11dpo today and only thing I have is sore boobs. I had cramps over the weekend so was feeling like I’m out but then all evening Sunday I had weird cramps just on one side so it gave me a bit of hope. But stupidly did a test yesterday morning and was negative, so no idea. Think I’m probably out but will wait and see. How about you?

MissEmily5 · 12/02/2024 21:54

@jenkh91 any luck with this cycle? 🤞

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 10/02/2024 11:55

@MissEmily5 yep totally, it is all consuming and as much as you try to do stuff to take your mind off it all, it’s always in the back of your mind isn’t it.

im glad we both had a plan in place though, hopefully that either gives us solutions or puts our minds at ease!

im currently 8/9 dpo i think and have had some cramps yesterday, same as usual though so i think it hasn’t happened for me this month either, although trying to stay positive!

MissEmily5 · 07/02/2024 21:24

@jenkh91
yeah, I’m just sick of being upset about it all the time. It’s just so consuming, I don’t want to think about it anymore. 😔

It’s tricky to balance your feelings of wanting the best and being angry with your reality, but sometimes it’s difficult.

I’ve only got one month on you but god it is super difficult- I don’t think it matters how long you’ve been trying everyone is allowed to feel.

Thats great news! Fingers crossed you get seen soon, bet that is a relief! ☺️

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 05/02/2024 10:07

hey @MissEmily5 yep defo, you have a plan now and one way or another it will be sorted!

yh for sure, let yourself feel however you need to - be kind to yourself ❤️

one of my close friends knows I’m trying and she and her partner are going to start trying soon too and in my head I’m just thinking I really hope I’m pregnant before she is otherwise I will find it really tough - but equally I don’t want her to have to go through all of this and hope it happens quickly for her!

this is month 6 for me, so I know in the grand scheme of things it’s really not that long - but it feels like forever 😂

i also have Bupa through my work and just found out they now offer fertility testing, so hoping I’m eligible for that and if it doesn’t work this month will get in touch with them. It would only be for me and not my partner but its a start!

MissEmily5 · 04/02/2024 18:00

@jenkh91 I’m glad that we’ve booked the tests and we’ll know one way or another- at least if there’s a problem we know and we can get started on putting things in place and if there is not then it’s just a matter of time :) aw I hope that is the case for us and that the home test was wrong- would definitely make things less stressful.

It’s always hard when it comes to hearing someone you’re close gets pregnant easily and you’re not finding it easy. But I’m just going to let myself feel sad when I need to but remind myself that I’ll be getting a new niece or nephew.
Ahh the dreaded TWW, never gets easier does it! I hope you get your BFP this month- I’ve also not tested this month and I definitely don’t feel as obsessed with every little symptom by not testing as much.

What month does this make for you?
I think that’s a good idea, I certainly feel more relaxed about it all, maybe it’s because I feel more in control.

@Westsussex thanks for your kind words and advice- we’ve booked in and we should have answers by the end of the month- the tests cover lots of things so we’ll have a nice clear idea. We’re very lucky that our MIL and FIL have paid for us to go private so we don’t have to wait, which is such a privilege.

Symptom spotting is the absolute worst and very much emotionally draining! Xx

MissEmily5 · 19/12/2023 18:02

@4LeafCloverBaby hi again!
hope you’re well :)
we haven’t yet no, I said to my OH that if we’re not lucky this month I’ll be contacting doctors. Just don’t want them to completely disregard us because we’ve only been trying what will be 6 months and we’re both under the age of 35.
Did you go private for this? :)

Yes, you'll need to go private for your tests, lovely. I've been to a private scanning room, which was full testing it was amazing and under £90 I can't recommend it more!

I've also had all my hormones tested (all perfect as well as my scanning), but we did an at home test on dh who has low motility which we're working on.

Nhs won't help for 2 years, if you can go private and get some peace of mind.

Symptom spotting is exhausting eventually. Try to wait until your missed period if you can . But your symptoms could be implantation for sure. Xx

jenkh91 · 03/02/2024 15:57

Hey @MissEmily5 oh no, I’m sorry to hear that. I think it’s a good idea to get the private tests booked in and get answers! Makes total sense.

i read on a thread here somewhere that those at homes are not particularly reliable - I’m also certain I read that someone’s partner got a not great result from the at home tests and then when they had a proper test there was nothing wrong - so fingers crossed!

that’s tough news about your sister too, even though you’re still happy for them it’s hard to hear isn’t it.

so I am cd 16, I think I ovulated yesterday so now heading into the shitty tww - haven’t tracked this month and feeling more relaxed for it but also bit worried I’ve got the timing wrong, but we did it plenty this week so hopefully we are covered.

if it doesn’t work this month then going to book in for private tests too

MissEmily5 · 02/02/2024 22:21

@jenkh91 sorry I went AWOL- I hope you’re okay and doing okay.
I’m now on CD12- we had a little set back, my DH took a home test for sperm count and it was not great- were hoping it was just a fluke as we didn’t realise we had give it 3 days at least from DD and it was only 2.
So we’ve booked in for the private tests, a bit earlier than we planned but we just need to have answers or we’ll go mad- plus my little sister has just got pregnant after just 2 months, which unfortunately has made us feel more pressure 😔
what stage are you at?:)

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 22/01/2024 12:32

@MissEmily5 yep at least I’m out of limbo land.

how is limbo land going for you? That is all so strange, has it arrived properly yet or not? It’s all so confusing because you’d expect a positive by now but also you do hear if people not getting BFPs until days after AF was due.

MissEmily5 · 21/01/2024 18:11

@jenkh91 I’m glad you’re not in period limbo anymore, hope you’re okay and taking care of yourself!
We should try and keep ourselves accountable but all is forgiven if we cave- which quite frankly is a strong possibility😂

I’m okay thanks, but throughly confused! On CD30 (13dpo), only had one cycle that lasted this long since coming off birth control a year ago and no period as such yet but a lot of spotting, It’s very creamy and brown and quite a bit of it but it starts and stops.

I took a test to rule it out pregnancy completely yesterday and it was a very stark BFN. I fully expected my period this morning, I usually start in the mornings, but no… more creamy brown spotting. I’ve not had any of my usual period symptoms, I’m not cramping and my boobs don’t hurt, so very confused!!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 21/01/2024 12:28

Hey @MissEmily5 AF came in full force by Friday night so now feeling more relaxed at least that the waiting is over! So let’s see how the no tracking goes in the coming weeks!

how are you doing? Any sign of AF or any good news?!

MissEmily5 · 19/01/2024 15:39

@jenkh91 i think I’m in the exact same situation as you again! I’ve had some more spotting- very creamy and brown in colour which implies that AF is on her way, but not a lot of it! I’m 11dpo today (CD28), so I expect her tomorrow- I very, very rarely go longer than 28 days.

But the strange thing is I’ve not really had cramps, just feel achy but I’m starting to develop a sore throat and just feel generally run down- nothing to how I normally feel when AF comes.

I’m definitely going to try and do that- but I’m not sure I’m kidding myself if I quit all the tracking cold turkey! 😂

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 19/01/2024 13:23

@MissEmily5 well it kind of started then stopped again, but I still feel like it’s coming, i just wish it would hurry up and get on with it!

Yh it really bogs you down doesn’t it, and after many months of tracking I notice that the apps are pretty much spot on with my ovulation day so just going to go by that and try take my mind of it!

have you had any more spotting yet?

MissEmily5 · 18/01/2024 18:52

@jenkh91 aw I’m so sorry 😔 that sucks, I hope that ugly AF comes swiftly and is done nice quick so you guys can start again!

I’m thinking the same actually, it’s a lot of pressure and it can really bog you down can’t it- I think now I know that I ovulate then I might just do the sperm meets the egg method!

No, I haven’t- weirdly (and sorry for TMI) my pants have been really damp and quite a bit of creamy CM, I’ve tried to Google what this could mean but not a lot of information on it! But I’m still not hopeful, I feel like it’s going to come any day now!

OP posts:
