Hello!
I’m currently 9dpo and having a bit a wobble- I keep flitting between hopeful to sad very quickly today. I think I just need some opinions from people who don’t know me and who aren’t just going to say ‘Hopefully’ or ‘fingers crossed’ (which is very sweet but I just need something more than that.

I’m 28, and me and my husband are on cycle 5 of TTC. This month I’ve been using OPKs and BBT. Currently on CD24 which is 9dpo for me- got my static smiley with my ovulation test on CD15 in the morning. We DTD every other day from CD6 up to CD19 so should be plenty of sperm up there to meet the egg!
I was concerned that I wasn’t actually ovulating despite getting a positive OPK so that’s why I started BBT (at first this was a bit of a struggle but I think I’ve got the hang of it now). My ovulation was confirmed on CD6 (one day I had to disregard my temp as I woke up slightly but didn’t temp straight away and temped an hour later when my alarm went off). My BBT has only had one dip on CD2 under the base line but have been quite zig zag like and not showing that upward curve that I would like to indicate pregnancy- I’ll attach a photo below incase we have the BBT experts out there!

My CM has been a mixture of watery and creamy, but I’ve really noticed the watery CM when I actively check and only the creamy CM once it has dried in my pants (often a cream/yellow colour). However, today on CD9 I have started to spot- it mainly is watery CM with a pink tinge- happened this morning with my first morning wee, then had a small amount mid day but my pants had creamy discharge with a slight browny colouring and then tonight I had the same watery discharge with a pink tinge. I have attached some pictures- sorry in advance for TMI or if it’s too graphic.
Picture info-

  • up close image on toilet paper was taken AM on CD9
  • picture of pants was taken mid day
  • toilet paper further away was taken PM on CD9

I would have been excited for this as it could possibly be implantation bleeding but last month I had a very similar experience (spotting started with a mixture of watery and creamy CM from CD23 and continued until CD27 to which it ended in my period).

I did also test this morning and received a BFN. I guess I’m just looking for any happily ever after who had similar situations to me or anyone with experience similar to mine. I think with the mixture of BBT and CM checking I already feel out at just 9dpo which I know is still early.

Might be worth mentioning that When I started to bleed today I thought it was game over so tried to put it out of my mind but me and my OH had sex and no trace of spotting on him or me afterwards. Plus cramps, if that’s what you can even call them has been minimal.

This TTC m’larky is so exhausting, you think it’ll be easy (I always said to people it could take a long while but I hoped deep down it would be super easy) and it’s like one thing after the next in terms of worry. First it’s the worry that you’ll get that positive OPK, then it’s the worry that if you’ll actually ovulate and get the temps to confirm it, not to mention having enough sex (whilst trying not to put too much pressure on you or your OH) and then it’s checking if your CM is right and so on and so on.
My Nan, who knows we’re TTC, said it’s any wonder anyone got pregnant back when she had her babies 😂
Just hope everyone is taking care of themselves whilst on this should be magical journey and wishing baby dust to you all!

Also, thank you for reading my long ramble and taking the time to reply! X

@jenkh91 great news on your OH test
results- must be a relief.

I hope it meant good news for you!! Did it?

Any follow up on your tests? I had some blood tests done and all came back ‘normal’ but the doctor hasn’t rang me back for any follow up- like it might be normal but I’m still spotting and I want to know why. I haven’t been able to get through to doctors for a week now.

this month I’ve been trying to be more relaxed- no OPK testing and because I don’t know when I ovulated I find it easier to not symptom spot. I’m booked in for a HyCosy next month so hopefully that’ll help if we’re not successful again this month.

Hey @MissEmily5 so he got his results today and all are normal, so that’s one good thing at least!

holiday was lovely thanks, definitely helped distract me. Although on I think 6DPO I had one random spot of pink blood when I wiped, and nothing since. So then my mind kept thinking ‘what does it mean?!?!’ But it still helped to be distracted for sure. Now think I’m 12DPO, have cramps so expected AF to start in next couple of days.

i had a GP appointment this morning and the doctor was so lovely, I’m getting blood tests so I’m glad about that, so at least that’s something.

Thats good news AF wasn’t too painful for you! Hopefully the reflexology is starting to help. I think going with the flow is a good idea, take the pressure off a bit!

MissEmily5 · 07/06/2024 20:24

@jenkh91 what were your OH results? Hope they came back okay! God I know! My OH hated it so much! In this case women are the lucky ones 😂

I hope you have a lovely holiday! and helped with the TWW crazies.

my period was surprisingly painless, quite heavy because of the missed on I think but no cramps! Think it could be to do with the reflexology. Now on cycle 10, on CD9. I don’t think I’m going to test this cycle and Joe tho with the flow- well the best I can! 🙈

jenkh91 · 28/05/2024 11:23

@MissEmily5 yep definitely worth getting answers! OH had his test this morning so step one done, I’m so glad I’m not a guy having to do that test, much prefer getting probed 😂

I’m CD 13 now so should be ovulating in a few days, so time to get going again. But thankfully we are off on holiday on Friday for just over a week so at least this tww will be super busy for me and my mind will not be thinking about it, hoping that works in my favour!

how are you feeling now AF is due in a few days?

MissEmily5 · 25/05/2024 22:28

@jenkh91 definitely not… I know people are private when it comes to their hardships but it would make it feel more normal if we talked about it more. Hopefully we’ll be people who can talk about it as success stories!

my OH is exactly the same! Although I think he appreciated getting answers.. we only have 3 more cycles till we hit the year mark so I think we’ve both resigned ourselves that they’ll be a lot more tests in our future! Yes, just takes one time and one sperm… which is definitely what I’m telling myself this cycle 🙈😂

definitely relaxing, although it does make me
feel a bit funny afterwards but apparently
that gets better as the toxins get released!

Fingers crossed this is the month! I’m now 7/8dpo due around Thursday.

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 21/05/2024 14:08

@MissEmily5 yep I’m the same, and from now I think I’ll be even more cautious about what I say. But I also think people don’t talk enough about the fact that for most people it does take time, the people that talk open and loudly about it are the ones that it happened quickly for, which makes it feel like it should happen quickly and when it doesn’t, that somethings wrong.

he’s anxious that we will get really bad news, but he is always pessimistic 😂

it’s so hard to keep the hope up isn’t it, but just remember it only takes one time!

I also gave up on temping, I just do it for a few days before ovulation until it confirms ovulation and then I give up! I wouldn’t pay too much attention to it fluctuating, based on what I’ve read.

im glad it was relaxing at least, even if all it does is help you relax I’m sure that will be beneficial.

im cycle day 6 now i think, trying to enjoy this time before it all starts again 😂

MissEmily5 · 20/05/2024 17:20

@jenkh91 totally- yes be happy and joyful but so many struggle with TTC. I’ve always been very cautious about the topic of babies but I think I’ll be extra since our struggles with it all.

great news about your husband- how is he feeling about it all? fingers crossed it all comes back good!

I’m now on CD17, I ovulated quite early for me on CD14 I believe- got a positive OPK on CD13 after lots of ovulation cramps during the day. I believe my BBT has confirmed it- although I don’t BBT all the way through the cycle as I find it hella stressful. Only 3dpo and already feeling out, we didn’t managed to DTD much as it was a lot earlier than we expected and to be honest I wasn’t in the right head space after my super long cycle last month, and my BBT seems to be going down the past 2 days but we’ll see as I keep temping. Just trying to not get my hopes up.

I wonder if reflexology caused me to ovulate earlier- she did say it could alter my ovulation. But I only had reflexology the night before so I don’t think so? But who knows!
it was very relaxing to be fair! Looking forward to my next one on Wednesday.

what cycle day are you now? X

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 17/05/2024 20:32

@MissEmily5 no I think people can be wrapped up in their own happy news (and rightly so!) that they are thinking. It did send me into a bit of a spin, and then AF arrived couple days early, so quite a short cycle this month.

my husband is getting semen analysis finally next week so that will be good to have answers there.

what cycle day are you?

it’s so weird cycles suddenly going weird, I’ve heard great things about reflexology so hopefully that can help you relax if nothing else!

MissEmily5 · 16/05/2024 20:59

@jenkh91 That sucks so much- honestly I don’t think people think (even if they don’t know you’re trying)🤦🏻‍♀️ has it put you in a bit of a spin?
At least you haven’t got too long to find out! How have you felt otherwise? :)

Well I got a solid smiley face on my ovulation test this afternoon, flashing yesterday afternoon and a circle yesterday morning- so ovulation has come on very quickly!

It’s quite early on far me to ovulate, especially after my strange last cycle and ovulating late last month! it’s all very strange.
I started reflexology last night- hoping this might help things if not successful this month!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 13/05/2024 20:46

Hey @MissEmily5 how are you getting on this month?!

im due on Friday or Saturday I think so just playing the waiting game. Was feeling quite relaxed about it this month because I’ve been so busy, but then yesterday I met a friend who told me she is pregnant and was saying how it ‘just happened so quickly and she can’t believe she got pregnant straight away!!!’ What do you even say in response to that 🤷‍♀️

hope you’re doing ok!

MissEmily5 · 29/04/2024 13:17

@jenkh91 really sorry you’re having to go through another cycle 😔 it’s so exhausting isn’t it! Fab, I hope you and him get some answers and whatever they are that you know what you need to do!

All we can do is hope- I’m so ready for this journey to be done and on to the next happy step!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 29/04/2024 11:53

Hey @MissEmily5 yes it did! I’m on CD10 now so gearing up to go again 😩but my husband does have GP appointment in a couple of weeks so at least ball is rolling with that.

i can’t believe it just never came! But well done for testing for ovulation, good thinking! Yes maybe this will end up being a good thing!

MissEmily5 · 28/04/2024 21:31

@jenkh91 oh I’m so sorry! Did it turn into a full bleed?

Still no period for me and all the BFN, so a missed period it is! Although as I was getting cramps, not period cramps but what felt like ovulation cramps I tested for LH and got a positive OPK on CD38. I’m now on CD42 and technically I’m 2dpo now… I’m hoping this works out and perhaps gives me a better chance as surely my uterus lining would be thicker as I’ve not bled for quite some time!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 18/04/2024 21:39

@MissEmily5 well I started spotted this evening so think it’s arrived 😩

thats all so weird, so frustrating isn’t it, really hope you get some good news over the weekend!

MissEmily5 · 18/04/2024 17:50

@jenkh91 oooh not long to go! And sometimes you don’t have any symptoms, it might just surprise you! 🍀

well I’m either 2 or 4 days late for period, I tested yesterday which was apparently 13dpo, but I spotted from CD4 to pretty much today! It’s been soo light and like today was hardly anything and mostly light brown. I thought I genuinely came on yesterday as I got a bright red smallish clot but since then nothing… it’s very, very strange. Never had a cycle this long ever before- CD32 today so if my period hasn’t come before the end of the week I’ll take another test and if negative I’ll give the doctors a ring!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 18/04/2024 08:10

@MissEmily5 i did get my peak confirmed! So think today I am around 12dpo, AF due tomorrow/saturday according to apps, but to be honest I feel the same as every other month so I have totally lost hope!

how are you getting on? Has the spotting stopped? after last month when I was a week late, because of what you told me about your sister and then a load of stuff I have read from other people, you really do never know until AF shows up! But I totally get it, the wait is awful and you just want to know either way

@GreenPickle hi! I do yes, I changed to CBAD back in December, have always been able to find my peak with them minus this month- but thank you for the advice. Baby dust to you ✨

✨ you too!

If it doesn't work out for my this cycle, I'll try the CBAD again next cycle but 4 days difference seems to be a lot (but also, good in terms of knowing my fertile window)! Keep me updated 🤞🤞

@jenkh91 a little bit behind me in cycle days, I’m currently on CD21.
I still didn’t receive a peak test, just flashing smiley, so it either didn’t happen or I missed it! Hoping the latter. Today I have had some on and off brown spotting which is super weird… I’m only 4dpo or perhaps 5/6dpo depending on if I’m going off feeling potential ovulation pains. But I’m not due my period for at least a week!
God knows what is going on 🙈
It certainly is annoying- I’m so sick of it all and to think I was really looking forward to TTC before we started 😂

Do you use cheap OPK strips at all?

I used the CBAD alongside the strips and found that I got a peak smiley on CD16 (after 4 days of blank, 1 day of flashing) and my strips showed peak on CD20 which I think was correct in my case (would have totally missed my window if I wasn't using these!). Just a small anecdote but might be worth using both

MissEmily5 · 16/04/2024 20:47

@jenkh91 did you get your peak confirmed?:) and how are you feeling?

nope not ever this early- I’ve now been brown spotting for 10 days, yesterday it started to lessen and today it has continued and I’m now two days late for my period but only 13dpo today. I’m starting to feel twinges so I’m worried I’ll suddenly come on full flow! Felt run down, tired and nauseous this week but a BFN today when I tested! I’m just so anxious for my period to come as I so want it to be it but at the same time if it’s not it, I just want it started rather than this limbo!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 08/04/2024 21:24

@MissEmily5 yep my missed period really set me back! But I think I had my peak on Saturday so fingers crossed.

i have read some people have a super quick peak so i guess it could be easily missed! That’s really weird about the spotting, even when you usually get spotting it’s not normallly this early is it? I want to say it sounds potentially promising but I feel like every time I say that it just turns out to be another weird trick our body’s playing on us!!

@MissEmily5 im on cycle day 14, and I’m the same! Was expecting to ovulate tomorrow-ish but ovulation tests are still light so not sure what’s going on!

weird that you haven’t had peak opk but now your boobs are sore, could you have ovulated early?

this whole thing is so annoying 😂

MissEmily5 · 03/04/2024 14:32

@jenkh91 so glad you felt better afterwards! What stage are you at now?
I’m currently on CD17 but yet to get a peak OPK result (think I might be having a dodgy cycle this month!)
My breasts are sooo sore the past couple of days though, never felt anything like it. Hoping it’s a good sign, but probably not 😂

Ooh well that might be a good method to try if this month is another negative- just trying to pin point when ovulation might be is the tricky part! I’m always different, not too different in CD but enough for it to be tricky-‘last month I got a positive OPK on CD12, never had it so early before- how about you?

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 01/04/2024 16:14

@MissEmily5 i know right! As soon as it had started i felt better though, and it wasn’t even a particularly heavy one, so no idea why it was late, but never mind!

oh that’s a shame it’s not somewhere you’d go again, but I guess q holiday is a holiday and will defo have done you both some good! Sounds like the fertile window fell at exactly the right time! Fingers crossed ☺️

no we haven’t booked OH tests yet, time got away from us and then we said let’s give it this month and then if nothing then we can do it. I also spoke to my friend yesterday who took about 14 months to conceive, she said after a year she went to fertility clinic and the DR told her that they should dtd approx 5 days before ovulation (apparently to get rid of the sperm that’s been sitting there 😂) and then nothing until you get positive ovulation test, then do it a few times over those couple of days. I think the idea is that then right on peak ovulation you are getting ‘the best’ sperm. So anyway we are giving that a try this month, so let’s see!
