Hello!
I’m currently 9dpo and having a bit a wobble- I keep flitting between hopeful to sad very quickly today. I think I just need some opinions from people who don’t know me and who aren’t just going to say ‘Hopefully’ or ‘fingers crossed’ (which is very sweet but I just need something more than that.

I’m 28, and me and my husband are on cycle 5 of TTC. This month I’ve been using OPKs and BBT. Currently on CD24 which is 9dpo for me- got my static smiley with my ovulation test on CD15 in the morning. We DTD every other day from CD6 up to CD19 so should be plenty of sperm up there to meet the egg!
I was concerned that I wasn’t actually ovulating despite getting a positive OPK so that’s why I started BBT (at first this was a bit of a struggle but I think I’ve got the hang of it now). My ovulation was confirmed on CD6 (one day I had to disregard my temp as I woke up slightly but didn’t temp straight away and temped an hour later when my alarm went off). My BBT has only had one dip on CD2 under the base line but have been quite zig zag like and not showing that upward curve that I would like to indicate pregnancy- I’ll attach a photo below incase we have the BBT experts out there!

My CM has been a mixture of watery and creamy, but I’ve really noticed the watery CM when I actively check and only the creamy CM once it has dried in my pants (often a cream/yellow colour). However, today on CD9 I have started to spot- it mainly is watery CM with a pink tinge- happened this morning with my first morning wee, then had a small amount mid day but my pants had creamy discharge with a slight browny colouring and then tonight I had the same watery discharge with a pink tinge. I have attached some pictures- sorry in advance for TMI or if it’s too graphic.
Picture info-

  • up close image on toilet paper was taken AM on CD9
  • picture of pants was taken mid day
  • toilet paper further away was taken PM on CD9

I would have been excited for this as it could possibly be implantation bleeding but last month I had a very similar experience (spotting started with a mixture of watery and creamy CM from CD23 and continued until CD27 to which it ended in my period).

I did also test this morning and received a BFN. I guess I’m just looking for any happily ever after who had similar situations to me or anyone with experience similar to mine. I think with the mixture of BBT and CM checking I already feel out at just 9dpo which I know is still early.

Might be worth mentioning that When I started to bleed today I thought it was game over so tried to put it out of my mind but me and my OH had sex and no trace of spotting on him or me afterwards. Plus cramps, if that’s what you can even call them has been minimal.

This TTC m’larky is so exhausting, you think it’ll be easy (I always said to people it could take a long while but I hoped deep down it would be super easy) and it’s like one thing after the next in terms of worry. First it’s the worry that you’ll get that positive OPK, then it’s the worry that if you’ll actually ovulate and get the temps to confirm it, not to mention having enough sex (whilst trying not to put too much pressure on you or your OH) and then it’s checking if your CM is right and so on and so on.
My Nan, who knows we’re TTC, said it’s any wonder anyone got pregnant back when she had her babies 😂
Just hope everyone is taking care of themselves whilst on this should be magical journey and wishing baby dust to you all!

Also, thank you for reading my long ramble and taking the time to reply! X

@jenkh91 I really do have everything crossed for you- embryo grading truly means nothing if that’s one of your concerns with not feeling hopeful. My best friend is due in July with a low graded embryo- some of the best graded ones fail and the lower quality ones thrive. No matter what you have I hope your little embryo is the one that makes your dreams come true.

Thank you so much- she’s just perfect, not sure what we did to deserve her. We feel so blessed. 💛

@MissEmily5 thank you 💜 I am not particularly hopeful for the embryo we are about to transfer but you never know, but feeling more hopeful for our second round which we would go for if this last embryo doesn’t stick.

I am so so happy to read your news though! Congratulations, it’s lovely to hear, I hope you and your little girl are doing well 💜

MissEmily5 · 23/05/2026 10:32

@jenkh91 oh Jen, I’m so sorry for everything you’ve gone through. I’m wishing you all the luck in the world for your upcoming cycle. I really hope everything works out. ❤️ I hope one day very soon we can comment back on this thread with your good news. Sending lots of love and luck.

@TTCbaby4 hi! I’m incredibly thankful and lucky to say, I gave birth to my little girl 10 weeks ago- she was conceived via IVF. Me and my OH were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and we got caught on our second round of ICSI (also paid for zymot, embryoscope & had the embryo glue this round- after a very bad first round resulting in nothing at all). Wishing you all the best in conceiving baby number 4!

Oh @jenkh91 , I'm sorry to hear that you've continued to have troubles. I read the thread and was rooting for you both.

I'm on cycle 3 of attempt 2 for baby 4. I have PCOS and hadn't had a period for over a year, along with mostly anovulatory cycles prior to the past 3 cycles. But my last 'period' was in fact a proper one, so I'm hoping to have some luck soon, but again, aren't we all.

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I hope your embryo is a sticky one for your next attempt 🫶🏻

jenkh91 · 12/05/2026 18:59

Hi @TTCbaby4 ☺️ I’m afraid no happy ending for me yet! I started ivf in January last year, first transfer failed, second one worked but miscarried at 7 weeks and the 3rd failed. The last one was back in September and since then we’ve done some extra tests (but found nothing) which took foreverrrr because we are with NHS. We have one embryo left from this cycle so actually will be starting meds for that in a couple of weeks, not holding out too much hope but you never know!
where are you in your journey?

Hey @MissEmily5 also still on this shitty journey sadly.

just started tww but tbh I have totally given up hope that it will happen naturally.

last cycle was the first month taking the progesterone pessaries from ovulation, it totally stopped any spotting so I just had to take a test on the day AF was due and it was negative (of course) so stopped taking it and AF came a couple of days later. Although I have to say I felt absolutely awful for about a week, not sure if it was a coincidence and I was just ill, but guess I will see again this cycle.

any news on your appointment yet?

last week I still hadn't heard so I followed up and they called me and we had an appointment last week, so it all happened very suddenly - so defo give it a chase if you haven’t heard?

But the Dr was so lovely and it seems we are in a good trust so that is lucky. I have to have a few more tests when my next cycle starts but so long as everything is ok with that it would be moving forward with IVF since they said they wouldn’t recommend anything else. Not sure how I feel about it, in a way it’s totally overwhelming and I can’t believe it’s coming to this, but on the other hand I feel good that we can sort of relax for the rest of the year knowing that we have this plan in place for the new year - so just got to wait and see now and pray that it maybe happens naturally in the meantime!

Hope you are doing ok all things considered

@jenkh91 and @MissEmily5 .. Did either of you ever conceive naturally or at all? I'd love to know there was a happy ending to this for you both.

MissEmily5 · 04/10/2024 20:01

@jenkh91 hey, long time no speak- hope you’re looking after yourself.

Still in this whole horrid journey- cycle 14 now. Started acupuncture (not too bad, just expensive and having herb supplements from them too). Currently waiting on a gynaecologist appointment to see about my spotting- hopefully the acupuncture can help with that though.

are you still on track for being seen this month or next? Fingers crossed for you! We’re probably looking at new year now but I’m glad that I have some time to get my spotting under control because I’m sure if it continues that any ivf would fail.

the hycosy is horrid isn’t it! I was told we could try as soon as I was comfortable!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 12/09/2024 21:28

Hey @MissEmily5 sorry you are feeling overwhelmed by it all, it is exhausting and a lot mentally.

i think not using opks and staying off here more is definitely a good shout, i am trying to do the same but failing!

oh ffs that’s so annoying, hopefully it suddenly picks up for you.

i had an email from the referral asking for some info and availability in October/november so hoping to get an appointment through for then.

i also went to private clinic when AF arrived last time, had a hycosy today which I found so painful!! But glad it’s done. I’ve also been given progesterone pessaries to take from after ovulation so happy to give them a try.

Did you still ttc the month you had your hycosy? On the form I read today said they advise to not try to conceive this cycle - but I have friends who had a hycosy and where told they could, so a bit confused!

MissEmily5 · 09/09/2024 20:26

@jenkh91 hey Jen!
I’m really trying to be less overwhelmed/obsessed with all this so coming on here less. I haven’t used OPKs for months and to be honest I’ve not even taken any supplements either anymore. I’m feeling a bit worn out about it all now.

I hope you have more progress with the clinic then I do- we’re still not on the wait list as the GP messed it up again! My OH is now waiting for more tests before it can get sent off.

how did you get on that month? Positive or yet again another cycle?

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 30/08/2024 14:12

omg sorry 😂 I think my brain just malfunctioned - thought I saw a notification and so responded to your message only to post it and see I already responded! Please ignore me!

Hope you’re doing ok!

jenkh91 · 30/08/2024 14:09

Hey @MissEmily5 sorry to hear AF came, how you feeling about it all?

can’t believe they hadn’t even made the referral, I know they are only human but why is it always so hard and such a fight?! It’s exhausting. Has it all gone through now?

well the GP hasn’t specifically said that but I guess so since they have found nothing wrong with either of us! Although wondering / hoping the clinic will do more investigations. Still haven’t received any call from the clinic yet, but the referral says to call them directly if I haven’t heard by 2nd October, so not long to wait.

I have no idea why but this month I have been feeling really positive, and over the past few days I’ve just had a ‘feeling’ but then today the usual cramps have started so I am back down to earth just waiting for AF to coming in a few day 😫

jenkh91 · 22/08/2024 09:09

Hey @MissEmily5 sorry to hear period arrived for you, hope you are taking it easy.

I can’t believe the referral hadnt been made! That happened with my scan actually, but I can see in my NHS app that my referral is there and ‘pending’ so think it might be a long wait.

Have you been given any indication of how long the wait might be?

i can imagine it being overwhelming, I’m at the point where I’m trying to ignore everything for a little while and just focus on looking after myself (which includes booking a holiday!) but it helps that I’m in the middle of my cycle, by the time we reach the last week of cycle it will be a different story I’m sure 😂

well she didn’t say the words unexplained infertility, I am guessing she is maybe leaving that for the fertility clinic to say? Not really sure what to expect from the referral, wondering if they will just do a load of tests again!

MissEmily5 · 19/08/2024 18:13

@jenkh91 I hope your both taking care of
yourselves💗 a year is tough milestone to get to.
I’ve started my period today so officially cycle 13 now.

Actually called the fertility clinic to see an update on the waitlist and found out no referral had been made!! After a lot of ringing around and lots of tears, the doctors managed to fit us in for a ‘referral appointment’ today (even though I had one 5 weeks ago) and the doctor is ringing tomorrow to confirm it’s been sent off.

God I hope so! I hope we’re both one of those lucky couples that get caught just before- we’ve freaked ourselves out watching Alex Jones: Making Babies, which is really insightful but it does make me panic about how overwhelming it all is going to be.

Glad to hear your scan was good- does that mean you and your OH have unexplained infertility?
Thats what we have been told now

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 19/08/2024 09:47

Hey @MissEmily5!
I don’t blame you at all, it’s a lot isn’t it!
no good news from my side either, I was originally a cycle or so behind you but think I must have caught up as I’ve also officially hit month 12. I actually found it really hard hitting 12 months and felt so down about it all, but weirdly now I feel much more relaxed and positive about it!

even though you haven’t had your BFP yet, it’s still really great news that your lining and husbands SA is much better! It’s scary but also good you’re on the list, and hopefully you will fall into the trend of couples who get pregnant naturally just before they are about to start IVF! But either way, at least you are making progress.

i managed to have my scan eventually and had follow up with GP a couple of weeks ago - everything looks normal apparently, so she referred me to infertility clinic, so now is just a waiting game!

MissEmily5 · 14/08/2024 19:55

@jenkh91 long time no speak- had to take a break from the sites and the researching and it all really 😂
I hope you’re doing okay and hopefully some good news? ✨
Me and my OH are officially on the NHS IVF wait list- month 12 now. I had such high hopes the last cycle after my hycosy and my liking all good and my husband got his SA back and all looking amazing and his sperm count is now 49mil per ml! Staggering from 9mil. So it’s now technically unexplained… the idea of starting IVF fills me with dread but we’re plodding along. I’ve stopped testing and we’re just focusing on enjoying ourselves and not putting pressure on it all, maybe because we think it won’t happen naturally now? But it’s a crazy place to be in! X

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 22/07/2024 11:30

@MissEmily5 oh ouch! But at least it’s done now. Great news about your lining! Must be nice to at least feel like there’s some progress there! How you getting on this month?

AF turned up 2 days late for me, so on to next month and just approaching fertile window again now.

still no news on my scan, I did follow up and they said it might just take some time so I guess I need to be patient.

already feeling like it’s not going to happen this month, another friend has announced she is pregnant and I feel like announcements are everywhere at the minute!

MissEmily5 · 12/07/2024 19:40

@jenkh91 I definitely agree, I think if you’re not obsessive with something it has to help 🙈😂
I had my hycosy on Tuesday- was not a fan! I think the main reason why it hurt was because they had to manipulate my cervix to get the catheter in. But what was great was finding out that my lining was a whopping 8.6mm at CD14. Sooo happy with that and so was the consultant, fingers crossed it helps. I do think the reflexology has helped with my circulation.

did AF turn up? Fingers crossed it didn’t! Sometimes you just get the itch to test!

have you managed to get your scan appointment through now?

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 09/07/2024 09:23

@MissEmily5 i think even just not being so religious with it helps doesn’t it. When is your hycosy? Wishing you all the best for it!

I’ve definitely felt more relaxed this month up until yesterday, think AF is due Thursday, so far no spotting YET but I stupidly did a test this morning and was negative, I knew I shouldn’t do it because I didn’t test so don’t even know how many dpo I am but I couldn’t resist.

i was supposed to also have a scan but haven’t had a phone call to book that in yet, so chased the GP and hoping she will come back to me this week and will also be able to let me know about bloods. Yh I know what you mean, you want there to be a reason why it’s not happened that can be easily fixed but also you don’t want anything to be wrong.

MissEmily5 · 06/07/2024 18:48

@jenkh91
I started to test again this cycle but i’m definitely not doing it religiously, I’ve even missed a couple of days. To be honest, I think i’m just doing it because we can’t try until after the hycosy is done, so I just want to check just in case. I’d hate to think that I’ve wasted my chance this month.

The living month to month is exhausting isn’t it? I’m done with counting, testing and worrying about it general.

I wish you all the best with your blood tests- do let us know how you get on with them. It’s tricky with results, sometimes you want there to be an issue so you can fix it, other times you don’t want it to be the case because why would you want there to be something wrong!

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 02/07/2024 13:24

@MissEmily5 keeping everything crossed the hycosy helps, like you say, at least you can feel like you are doing something!

Yh I’m the same, felt good not to test but also means I have no idea if we missed the peak time, especially since I was away for a few days. But I’ve already resigned myself to this month not being the one and think next month I won’t test either but will just dtd every other day for a couple of weeks.

I also have blood tests tomorrow so hoping maybe something comes of that!

im just tired of feeling like I’m living month to month!

MissEmily5 · 01/07/2024 19:34

@jenkh91 god I know.. I’m on month 11 now. With my hycosy booked on CD14 which will probably mean this month is out too. Definitely feel positive about the procedure- I think more in control.

But at least with it being a year point, I can get the ball rolling for IVF, which probably will make me feel better too. Well at least until the waiting… I think I’ll give it 3 months after the hycosy and then give acupuncture a try.

I also didn’t test, I think it helped in some respects but then I really wanted to know if we dtd at the right time. How did you feel about not testing this month? :)

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 29/06/2024 10:48

Hey@MissEmily5 how are you getting on?

i knowww, really hoping we get our BFPs soon, i really can’t believe it’s pretty much been a year already, i really didn’t think it would take this long!

think the hycosy sounds like a great idea, at least it will make you feel proactive, and fingers crossed it might help!

I haven’t done any testing this month, so not sure exactly but think I’m a couple days post ovulation. Didnt get to dtd as much as would have liked but never mind!

MissEmily5 · 24/06/2024 16:09

@jenkh91 that sucks. When will it be our turn to share our BFP news on this chat eh! I’m hoping very, very soon for us both.

always a waiting game with these things isn’t it- my doctor didn’t get back to me soon enough. They wanted a blood test a week before my expected period but it was already too late. So booked in for the following month (which hopefully I don’t need- but AF is expected on Thursday so we’ll see).

who knows maybe them few times will do the trick- the way I see it maybe changing it up will give us different results. It doesn’t seem to matter how much you DTD or prepare yourself in the run up it still doesn’t work anyway 😂🙈

hycosy is private- I want to have everything that has been advised before the year mark. Plus I figure if it increases your chances the most for the first 3 months after having it done, I figured it’ll make me feel like we’re being productive whilst we wait for our first NHS IVF appointments.

I didn’t test for ovulation this month, so I’m
not entirely sure what DPO I am but I think based off what I thought was ovulation pains I’m about 10dpo. Starting very light brown spotting today- I hope it’s something good but on cycle 10 i’m getting a bit more pessimistic😂 how are you getting on?

OP posts:
jenkh91 · 18/06/2024 21:11

@MissEmily5 yes defo a relief!

no sadly AF came! Was spotting for like 4 days before it this month so I’m interested to see what bloods say.

got them booked for day 21 which is still couple of weeks away so just a waiting game.

also think this month won’t happen for us because I’m away for a the few days leading up to ovulation which is annoying, but I’m not going to do any testing and just go for it the few days before I go away and then when I’m back and keep fingers crossed!

Even though it’s good to hear that things are normal, it’s also a little frustrating isn’t it because it doesn’t give you answers. That’s very frustrating to not hear anything from docs, I feel it’s a total lottery on who your GP is and what they are like.

thats good news about the hycosy, is that through NHS or private? I’ve heard a lot of good things about it! It’s at least another step forward isn’t it
