8DPO TTC#1 - anyone else?

MaryHua · 30/11/2023 20:02

Hi all!
This is my 4th cycle, longing for 2 lines on a test someday! I'm 8DPO and have been doing ok up until now in my 2WW but as usual, the obsessive googling has started again as I desperately symptom spot.

Anyone else in a similar position or in their luteal phase at the moment?

For those of you who already have DC, how many cycles in to TTC did you fall pregnant? (If you were actively trying...)

Baby dust to my fellow TTC-ers ✨

@overthinkersanonnymus oooh early days but I know some people like the comfort and control that daily testing brings so I definitely understand both approaches.
Weird to wish this, but I hope any nausea you have continues and is an early symptom! 🤞

@Fairy0708 yes I went with a private scan (Christmas and birthday present this year!) 😅
It was a big comfort, but I'd like to have the further tests for myself and my husband as well.
I know in some cases of unexplained infertility there is never an answer and that's too painful to even consider.
I'm 29 in a couple of weeks. So still young... but my husband is 36. I'm not sure if that would have an impact? I'm quite anxious by nature and like most women I like to know what's going on with my body.

It's completely normal for it to consume you, so don't feel guilty. You can yearn for your second child whilst still cherishing your first with all your heart. Because it doesn't impact a man's body in the same way, and they don't have all the hormonal ups and downs, they can't possibly relate. But fingers crossed for more empathy from them perhaps ♥️

@MaryHua hey! 6 dpo for me and feeling a bit tired plus has bad acid indigestion this afternoon. Trying not to read too much in to it. I will be testing tomorrow though 😂 even though it's ridiculously early.

How are you?

Fairy0708 · 02/12/2023 16:07

@MaryHua ah that's good your scan came back ok. Did you go private? Oddly I haven't been offered a scan yet but I will push for it. My blood tests came back normal but they weren't on a specific day which I am questioning whether they are even meaningful. It included hormones, FSH & LH, prolactin and a full blood, bone and thyroid count. My husband needs a sperm analysis then our results get referred to a gynae from there!

How old are you? Xx

Omg my husband is the same. He says I talk about it every day. I feel horrible as I'm so lucky to have my child and it sometimes totally distracts me from him so after this month I'm going to accept it for what it is and focus on him xx

MaryHua · 02/12/2023 13:16

Oh fingers crossed for you @MrsO92
You just never know! One month has gotta be the lucky month right?! But even if tomorrow doesn't go how you hope, it doesn't mean you're out. Keep strong! ✨

Currently obsessively googling positive tests at 10dpo (tomorrow) despite promising myself I’d wait til day AF due 😂 so.. not great! Really sore cramps last night which felt like period pains, but not due til Thursday at earliest and I’ve never had cramps this early so feeling more hopeful than I probably should do!

How is everyone else getting on?

@Fairy0708 it's all very vague. Every month I've had different symptoms and not one BFP.
Last month I had the most horrible trick of all played on me by my body. At 8DPO I had a couple of small drops of watered down blood when wiping for a couple of hours. And then it stopped. I was utterly convinced it was implantation bleeding. Then nausea, and then finally AF being 4 days late but nothing but BFNs. So I don't trust my body at all.
I did have a wee glass of wine last night as a treat. And I savoured every drop! 😄

If you don't mind me asking, the blood tests that you had... was it the ANF test? And the tests your husband is due to have, is that blood tests as well or sperm analysis? Sorry I just want to know the differences and reasons behind each of the testing pathways.
I had a fertility scan last week, which confirmed I did ovulate but was also useful in confirming I don't have anything obvious internally that would prevent a baby so that was a comfort.

I know what you mean about husbands just not getting it... mine can be quite detached from the whole thing which is annoying. We are on the same page about most things in life, but when he says "oh come we can't have this every month..." I just want to scream at him that this is torture for me having to do all the waiting and testing. Hope he gets it soon 😂

@MaryHua I've also realised nausea is something I get before most periods! I never noticed it before ttc but it was pretty cruel the first month of ttc when I thought it was a definite symptom 🤣 but you never know, nausea and head colds are also symptoms after implantation 🤞

I may have one or two drinks even in the tww and still have one caffeinated coffee a day. With my DC1 I was drinking a lot of coffee (needed it as we moved houses in that time) and literally convinced myself there was no way I would be pregnant that quickly. Anyway my point is try to allow yourself a few treats ❤️

I've actually had some initial blood tests done and my husband will have his in the next week. I'm 34 and our first child has some health issues (thankfully all fine now thanks to heart surgery and a few other things) so we're just being cautious. My SIL had her 3rd at 38, so I'm just hanging onto the evidence that it takes up to a year.

Sorry that was a lot of word vomit - even though my hubby is supportive he doesn't quite get the mental load of obsessing over this for 3/4 of the month. Ironically when AF arrives, I feel totally chilled for that week and actually happy 😲 xx

MaryHua · 01/12/2023 23:16

@Fairy0708 it's very hard to tell isn't it when symptoms of PMS are very similar.
I had a work night out tonight and I'm not drinking as I'm trying to just not have any binge nights and keep healthier. Even though I know it's very unlikely I'm pregnant anyway. It's so hard to juggle just living freely and trusting the process along with being aware of fertile days and monitoring all forms of symptoms.
Tonight I didn't have much of an appetite and felt a bit queasy... but is that just me being rundown after a week at work with a head cold starting? The second-guessing is horrible. I just want to know, one way or another.
Rant over 😂

@MaryHua it does feel like a chore at times! I have said to my dp from next month he can just let me know when he wants to DTD as I'm not saying a word. Very draining!

I have only used opks 3/6 months and I had my opk on cd12 twice and cd12 once. I do get ovulation pains for a good few days (both before and a day or so after).

I think I'm due on 7-9th and already have cramps so pretty sure it's another month gone!

MaryHua · 01/12/2023 17:51

@BellsB1 I won't test until at least Wed 6th December - 14DPO. But AF may appear before then... 🤷🏻‍♀️
But I agree, early lines can be just as worrying.

Hi @Fairy0708 ! Thanks for sharing the stage you're at! A day behind me then on the 2WW so we could be testing around similar times. Couldn't agree more about how exhausting this process is. I can't even imagine trying for a second child at this stage! Tired even thinking about it.

My cycles are also all over the place. Got my implant out in August, first positive OPK was 9 days after removal.
Then second cycle I ovulated CD 14, then 3rd cycle CD 17 and now on this cycle it was CD21! So my cycles are getting longer and longer. Which means that the wait until we can try again each month also gets longer! Very tricky for my anxious mind. Hoping my body regulates itself soon. Or better yet... becomes pregnant! 😂

OP posts:
Fairy0708 · 01/12/2023 17:22

Hi all

I'm in cycle 6 ttc number 2. I had my opk on 22nd November so assume I ovulated on 23rd, so assume today makes it 8dpo. Weirdly since ttc my cycles have been all over the place, usually around 28 days.

I am so fortunate that we conceived DC1 on cycle one. He's now 2 years 8 months.

I think after this cycle I'm done for a while, totally consuming!

BellsB1 · 01/12/2023 17:22

I've now found it's better to not be fully certain when I ovulated so I can't start testing from 6dpo! I might try to hold out until Sunday or Monday, just so that if its positive it's less of a worry. I find the faint positives hard as you spend the day wondering if you are or aren't pregnant, whereas if you just left it a bit longer you'd be able to read them more easily 😂

When do you think you will test?

MaryHua · 01/12/2023 17:08

@BellsB1 oh wow that's amazing that you could tell so early on. If that's the way it was for your two previous pregnancies then I think testing this weekend would be suitable for you. Definitely keep us posted please!

OP posts:
BellsB1 · 01/12/2023 17:03

I'm really trying not to test, but I tested positive on 9dpo (very faintly) for both my pregnancies so I'm going to have to hide the tests tomorrow. I will probably test this weekend, knowing me!

I never thought it would be so hard either, you hear about people falling pregnant from one time, but it's definitely not happened that way for me!

I try not to symptom spot, but I think it's just automatic when you could be pregnant. I did track my symptoms on an app and I had the same symptoms whether I was pregnant or not, I think you're just so focused on any change and any sign x

MaryHua · 01/12/2023 15:39

@BellsB1 of course!! More than welcome! The more sisters who come together in this journey, the better it is for us all as we can share experiences and our ups and downs.

So sorry to read about your loss. How are you doing?

@GL456 I think I'm going to adopt the same approach as you. I won't test until at least Wednesday 6th which is when I think I will be late... I'm not buying any tests either to limit the temptation!

I have just driven home from work, and when I was driving I was feeling abdominal pinching but I feel like I've been here before in my mind when it comes to symptom spotting. I want to just ignore it and wait and see. But man it's so hard not to get my hopes up!

OP posts:
GL456 · 01/12/2023 15:33

Hello! Very sorry for your loss. How are you feeling? I never realised how hard it was to conceive!! Lol. I just thought it would happen fairly quickly...how naive of me🤦‍♀️

I have felt very tired for the last couple of days, I'm usually active but I have just crashed after work in the evenings, also had some mild tummy cramps yesterday and today. May be AF on her way though...I'm due on Tuesday. Not going to test until then!

GL456 · 01/12/2023 15:24

Thanks for your reply! Yes really trying to stay positive, and it is nice to talk to someone at the same stage too!! I usually get too impatient and end up testing early, and then I'm always disappointed 🙈 I'm going to hold off this month and wait to see if AF turns up! What about you?

BellsB1 · 01/12/2023 14:54

Hey, can I join?

I'm 8dpo today (I think) and it is my first month of TTC after a loss last month so I haven't tracked at all.

I have an almost 2 year old, who took 12 months (or so, I stopped counting) to conceive, but is now running around excited for Christmas.

@GL456 I had no positive tests at all before my first pregnancy and was doing all of the testing and tracking for the whole time 🙂

How is everyone feeling? I'm an early tester, and hate the TWW, but then the wait from positive to a scan is almost as slow! X

MaryHua · 01/12/2023 11:39

Hi @GL456 !!! Welcome to the thread.
Sorry to hear about your TTC journey not having any luck so far. I know it's easier said than done, but take heart in the fact that there has been nothing found or diagnosed.
But yeah, the 2WW is hideous. I'm 9DPO now too, so it's nice to have someone at exactly the same stage.
What is your approach to testing? ✨

OP posts:
GL456 · 01/12/2023 07:47

Hello! I would love to join. I'm currently 9 dpo and the tww is torture!! We have been ttc for a year now and still no positive results at all. I'm super regular with a 28 day cycle, doing ovulation tests, checking BBT daily, had all tests at the doctor's (including my partner). Very disheartening but trying so hard to stay positive. I hope we all get those positives soon🥰

MaryHua · 30/11/2023 21:14

@MrsO92 well it sounds like you did on the best day of your cycle to give yourself the best chance. So there is every chance that you've caught!

Tracking ovulation is a bit of a science and it's so hard to pinpoint it exactly. This month we only DTD the 2 peak days of our clearblue smiley face kits - wish we had managed to do the day after as well to cover all bases but unfortunately weren't able to.

I'm like you. I've been ready since last Christmas. Before this I was a bit indifferent really to motherhood (always thought babies were cute and could envisage me having them one day) but then just at the turn of the new year it was like BAM!! I was yearning for motherhood. I was ready.
Due to life and some travel plans, I didn't get my implant out until August so by then I was so desperate to get trying!!

Really really hope this is our month! Keep us posted on any of your symptoms if you spot any! X ✨

Yes so I think we did it right before / as I ovulated as I got a peak test just a few hours before! I’m still new to the whole ovulation tracking thing so not super confident, but trying to put good positive vibes out there and tell myself I AM pregnant 😅 I’m planning to test next Friday (when AF due) so 1 week to go!

🙏🏼 we both get the outcomes we want next week! What a fab end to the year that would be

it’s defo hard with so many people around you getting pregnant and making it look so easy. I think I’ve been ‘ready’ for over a year now, and I’m reslly impatient!

MaryHua · 30/11/2023 20:49

Hello friends @overthinkersanonnymus @MrsO92
😊 so nice to have some buddies for this wait!

I was also on another chat previous to this but my ovulation came so late this month that those ladies have already had AF arrive and I'm still only half way through my 2WW so I didn't want to keep bombarding them with messages too! But if they see this post then please say hello! I'll also keep them updated too of course 🥰

As for POAS... I know right?! I can't wait either... almost feels second nature to grab a stick of some kind when I go to the bathroom... especially after how long it took for my LH surge to arrive this month. 😂🤣

I'm determined though to not test until AF is late... even though I'm not exactly sure when to expect her. Could be Monday... as sometimes she comes 12DPO for me. But I'm going to wait the full 2 weeks (she says... wait and see I'll probably cave!) and test on Wednesday 6th! Even though I've had 3 unsuccessful cycles, I still build up so much hope. When I need to be realistic and know it's only a 25% chance-ish...

I know so many people who are pregnant at the moment or who have just had babies. I'm so overjoyed for them, but I also do wonder if it will ever happen for me. It seems to be so easy for some! @MrsO92 ... 1 time is all it takes! So you have a chance!! Fingers crossed. Do you know if you DTD in and around the time of ovulation?
