Broody at 43--am I bonkers?

I had DS when I was 39 (no problems conceiving--got pregnant second month we tried). Until recently, I've felt ambivalent about a second child. But right now am feeling mega-broody!

I had dd3 at 41 (Feb 04) and had a fairly easy pregnancy - pretty simmilar to the other three pregnancies to be honest. Everyone kept commenting on how 'well' I looked. don't know whether it was a compliment or just amazement at my looking not too bad at my advanced age

Provided you can get pregnant, being pregnant and having a baby isn't really any different depending on your age IMO. Conceived ds at 37 and this one at 40 and it was easier second time around, actually. I am having a far easier time that most of my younger friends - no sickness, no tiredness really, no problems and my blood pressure is 'perfect' according to the obstetrician who saw me on Friday!

I'm 41 and having a very easy time. I think Blu was 43. And of course, Cherie... 46...

Thanks Sis & everyone's encouraging comments. But, has anyone out there any personal experience of becoming a mum at this advanced age?

well, at 41 with add and dd I thought I was bonkers wanting a third. I expected dh to be sensible and talk me out of it, but he has agreed to it, so who knows what is going to happen now....

Why ever not? Give it a try, I say. And of course you aren't bonkers! If you want a baby, don't delay. Get a bottle of champagne, some folic acid and start today!

So long as your partner is in agreement and you have no health reasons that may cause a problem, I'd say 'GO FOR IT !'
