I was never actually sick last time, just nausea and slight dizziness, expecially when on the bus (which isn't good as I don't drive, so DS and I do a lot of bus journeys)

Hey decaf - I was only a mere 42 when I had ds2 - you will beat me.

I had no sickness at all with ds1 or 2 nor food cravings or aversions. Hope you have a lovely pregnancy

Sorry, never sick, both times. Though I had a v fleeting moment of nausea half way through a fishcake just before I tested.

I feel really sick today and it isn't just because I was forced to watch a Barney video whilst DS got his hair cut in the posh kids' hairdressers with a telly. Aloha did you escape nausea too, or was it just food stuff you missed out on?

Ah yes, the desire to commit random acts of violence sound like pregnancy to me sorry about the chocolate. How ghastly for you. I always think I'm not a real pregnant person because I don't have any cravings/aversions etc.

I've always been a big fan of Boots. They were my favourite shoplifting venue as a wayward teenager (well, them and Woolworths) Yes, feel much better, although at the moment, Aloha, the thought of eating chocolate is making me feel sick! So I must surely be preggers...I am going to save the other test in the packet for the morning I go to the nurse and if it's positive and the nurse's test isn't, I will whip it out my bag and shove it up her ass (she wasn't the least bit empathic yesterday).

Oh, thank goodness! On the ttc thread we reckon that Boots tests are brilliant, so I'd definitely have faith in it. How wonderful to have your mind at ease. Now enjoy your pregnancy - for us broody over-40s you are a role model!

Boots test was a lovely big blue cross in the window. So either Boots tests are wrong (cos that's what I used before), or, I am still up the duff!

Thanks everyone, I will be back some time in the morning with news of my home test...meantime, I'm going to try not to worry about anything more pressing than Celebrity Big Brother.

Don't worry, the Gp's test just isn't sensitive enough for an early pregnancy without early morning urine to test on. A false positive from your test is REALLY unlikely.

You poor love. FWIW, my opinion is that you should have faith in your test: home tests are very good and false positives are disappearingly rare. Try to keep positive tonight. We'll deal with tomorrow tomorrow. So sorry that you are having this blight on your happy news.

Another test in the morning should put your mind at ease. Have you spoken to your DH yet? You may be menopausal or delusional (I can't judge either) but neither of those conditions would cause the + to show on the test. I would run with the 'too early' theory. I look forward to seeing your positive result tomorrow morning. Will be thinking of you.

A bit shell-shocked and a bit silly/embarrassed, I should have waited longer before making the nurse appt/telling RL people. Part of me is quite sure I am pregnant but the other part isn't sure now.

Oh Arabica, that's a bit disturbing, isn't it? I'm sure the nurse was right and it was just the time of day. And the urine tests they do at the GPs are no more accurate than shop-bought ones (only the blood tests are more sensitive) so there's no reason not to have faith in your own test. Still, it must be playing on your mind. I look forward to your next test confirming your happy news.

Oh Decaf, What a nightmare! The GPs tests are often less sensitive (bought in bulk etc..) so your original result ought to be more accurate. There is no such thing as a false positive only a false negative. How are you feeling?

Er, I just went to the GP and did a test there...which was negative...that's 24 hours after doing a Boots test at home that was definitely positive! Nurse said (a) it would have been better to have had an early morning wee sample; and (b) could simply be that it's too early for her test to tell. Perhaps I am just menopausal and deluded!! Luckily I showed DH the stick I'd used with the cross in the test window...so I was definitely pregnant according to THAT test. Gonna do another test tomorrow morning at home.
