Hello all,

A new cycle unfortunately started for me today. I really thought last cycle was going to be the one but unfortunately not the case and AF has shown her ugly face!

I had an early miscarriage in early September and this was the first cycle back TTC #1

Just wondering if anyone wants to join on the journey this month - always nice to be able to speak to people in the same situation!

Baby dust to all x

@MaryHua ahh yay! Amazing news, bet you're so relieved! I actually follow someone on tiktok who ovulated a lot later than usual and they actually fell pregnant that month! Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼 x

@rosecbrm
Omg guys!!! Had an LH surge tonight! CD20 - tested at midnight before bed and a big stinking smiley face sits cheesing at me! DH was only too delighted to have a baby dance at long last haha.

Hopefully my luteal phase isn't too short now after such late ovulation... we shall wait and see. But I suppose my 2WW starts tomorrow! Woo!

rosecbrm · 21/11/2023 10:28

Thank you @MaryHua you too 🤍x

You're over half way there!! Keep strong ✨

rosecbrm · 21/11/2023 10:20

Keeping my fingers crossed for both of you!! @Biscuitsarelife1 @MaryHua

This week is reaaaaally dragging! I'm due on Monday next week so a while to go for me yet 🫣😂 x

@rosecbrm
It's a local private clinic. I live in Edinburgh and there are surprisingly few options here. And for men, there are no clinics that offer semen analysis, only 1 that does DNA fragmentation test for £400! 😳 so we are going to hold off on testing sperm for now...
My scan comes to £145 so I'm really hoping it will be worth it! Told my husband it can be an Xmas/birthday gift haha. If I get the all clear it will be the best gift ever anyway. Well... except a baby!

I think you're right though, an anovulatory cycle can happen now and then. Hoping that's all it is.

@Biscuitsarelife1 not long to go now!! Though this week will feel like the longest ever to you I'm sure. Fingers and toes crossed for your lucky month!

Biscuitsarelife1 · 21/11/2023 09:40

I'm due Saturday! So not long to go to find out. Have a weird feeling I will come on Friday though

rosecbrm · 21/11/2023 09:36

@MaryHua that sounds very thorough! Is that with a local clinic or like a well know chain? Please let us know how you get on, hopefully nothing worrying comes up and it's just a strange month for you. I know that isn't it like 3 cycles a year are anovulatory for women?

@Biscuitsarelife1 ahhh I feel your pain. When are you due on? X

Biscuitsarelife1 · 21/11/2023 09:33

I am soooo tempted to test but I've done every month and it makes me feel so stupid when it's negative! Last month I woke up to no period so tested and it literally arrived 10 minutes after lol

MaryHua · 21/11/2023 09:29

@rosecbrm
I've just taken this from the website:
"a detailed gynaecological examination. We will assess the size and shape of the cervix, uterus, Fallopian tubes and ovaries. We will measure the thickness of the lining of the uterus. We will check for common conditions such as fibroids, ovarian cysts, polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, polyps and pelvic inflammatory disease. This can check the development of follicles leading to ovulation in natural cycles or for women taking fertility medication. The scan can also check the condition of the lining of the womb (endometrium) prior to natural or assisted conception. This scan can also assess the pelvic organs in cases of infertility or recurrent miscarriage".

So it seems pretty intense. But honestly the more things they can rule out, the better. It doesn't include a blood test to assess hormone levels so I may also enquire about an AMH test.

@Biscuitsarelife1 best of luck!!!! Baby dust to you. And well done on your determination to not test early. That takes a lot of willpower x

rosecbrm · 21/11/2023 09:21

Fingers crossed for you @Biscuitsarelife1 , please keep us updated! I'm glad you have more willpower than me!

@MaryHua oh absolutely it's so silly, I don't know why I do it to myself!
Oh I'm sorry to hear that you'd didn't get your peak, hopefully it's just an off month and nothing to worry about. I completely get why you've booked the scan cause I'd be the same. Since my MC in September I have convinced myself there's something wrong with me too and my husband just thinks I'm crazy for even thinking that..

I don't personally know anyone who's had the scan before, what does it entail? Really hoping for the best for you xx

@rosecbrm
Hiya! Sorry to hear that you're not feeling so calm. Take heart in the fact that logically you know that 6DPO isn't going to show the two lines you long to see! Wishing you all the luck for the next few days.

Sadly, my ovulation never happened. No LH surge. Obviously I escalated this in my brain to mean that I'm infertile.
I think my husband must find me insufferable at the moment with all my worrying, but he has been really supportive. I just am so low about my body not releasing an egg this month. So I've booked for a fertility ultrasound scan this weekend. It may seem premature as we haven't been trying for that long, but this knawing fear and worry isn't going to help long term if stress is playing a role.

Do you guys know of anyone who has had fertility scans before? X

Biscuitsarelife1 · 21/11/2023 08:50

I think I'm 11 DPO today! I've had cramping from about 4 DPO and getting the occasional twinge but I've had that every month so ignoring that. Also my boobs are itchy today and I'm super tired too! I don't have any tests and not buying any until I'm late

rosecbrm · 21/11/2023 08:48

6dpo for me today! I stupidly tested and obvs negative! No real symptoms other than burning nipples?? Don't know if that's related haha! My calmness for this cycle has defo disappeared!!

How are you all? @MaryHua @Biscuitsarelife1 @emmatcc1 ?

Baby dust to all xx

MaryHua · 19/11/2023 21:18

@emmatcc1
How are you finding your 2WW?

MaryHua · 19/11/2023 21:17

@rosecbrm
Oh I haven't heard of that technique before! I'll have to look up pre-mom. The comparisons would be nice to see!

@Biscuitsarelife1
Wishing you lots of luck and support. It's a horrible feeling, but being open to it going either way is the best way to guard your heart.

Biscuitsarelife1 · 19/11/2023 19:04

AF due in 6 days already convinced myself I'm out this month, no idea why just got a feeling this month is not ours again.

rosecbrm · 19/11/2023 18:56

@MaryHua that definitely does make sense! I haven't used the digital ones myself purely for that reason I guess, as well as they are so expensive!

I just use the cheap strips and put them into pre-mom to get a reading, I don't necessarily think that is the most accurate but you can see clearly when you're peak is when you have them to compare! X

OP posts:
MaryHua · 19/11/2023 16:47

@rosecbrm
I do sometimes wonder how accurate my digital OPKs are - it's also an expensive way to measure LH surge so if this goes on for a few more months I'll be going for the strips.

I do check my digital OPKs when I remove the test stick and look at the lines as well to see how dark they are, even if the digital display reads as negative. One day this week, to me the second line looked pretty much as dark as the control but it displayed as negative. I'm wondering if that was actually my surge and the test wasn't accurate?

Sorry if that doesn't make any sense. Trying to rationalise what's going on with my body.

rosecbrm · 19/11/2023 13:51

@MaryHua exactly! So not so sure what's going on. It's the strip tests!

Defo keep me updated! Best of luck to you too 🤞🏼 hopefully this will be our month xx

OP posts:
MaryHua · 19/11/2023 13:44

@rosecbrm
Gosh I remember you getting your first positive OPK a few days ago. Is it the strips or digital?
I think you'll definitely release an egg if you haven't done so already.
Having the surge is the important bit as far as I know.

I think I've had the estrogen surge to explain the EWCM but the LH surge isn't a given for me.
I'll definitely report back if there is any good news haha.

Bless you with the tests! I think I'd be exactly the same. It's such a long wait and it's completely normal to be crazy over not knowing what is going on in our bodies. Best of luck xx

rosecbrm · 19/11/2023 11:36

I also caved in and bought some easy @ home tests! I still feel calmer than usual but I know I will drive myself crazy and be anxious if I don't test, 4dpo today and I might start testing from Friday!
X

OP posts:
rosecbrm · 19/11/2023 11:31

@MaryHua it really is 😭 I'm having the opposite tbh, my OPK LH has been pretty high for nearly a week now! Nearly a positive test every day.. so not too sure what's happening there! My boobs are also so sore so really strange.

Yes let me know! Fingers crossed it's just a bit delayed and will be tonight/tomorrow x

OP posts:
MaryHua · 19/11/2023 10:54

@rosecbrm
Not unwell, but I have been very stressed this week with a lot going on. So it could be that. And this is adding to my stress which I know rationally isn't going to help.
It's a very vicious circle isn't it? 😅
I think I'll test again this evening and then tomorrow before I might just count myself out. They say that over 21 days is "late"?

rosecbrm · 19/11/2023 10:45

@MaryHua Have you been unwell or anything recently? It's crazy how much can knock your cycle out of its usual routine!

I know it's hard but try not to worry! X
