@TheBirdintheCave that's helpful to know, thank you xx Can I ask when your symptoms disappeared? My disappeared around 4+5 and I'm 5+1 today (I think).

OP posts:
TheBirdintheCave · 07/11/2023 17:32

@SarahShorty My initial symptoms disappeared then came back again a few weeks later :)

SarahShorty · 07/11/2023 16:44

@CR7 All my nausea and cramping has disappeared. I don't think symptoms or lack thereof is an indicator of anything, although it is hard not to worry. I'm just dutifully taking my meds and sitting tight until the first scan at 7 weeks on 20th of November. Hopefully little one is healthy and strong.

How are you?

OP posts:
WholeZebra · 07/11/2023 16:29

@CR7 doing okay! Still suffering with nausea and vomiting at 20+5. But it’ll all be worth it!

TheBirdintheCave · 07/11/2023 11:52

@CR7 I'm ok :) 13+1 now. Nausea is definitely on its way out and I'm planning to go back to my exercise class next week. Just need to find some maternity leggings that I like 🙄

How are you?

CR7 · 07/11/2023 11:49

How are you all, ladies x

CR7 · 04/11/2023 12:06

@Valentina1985 I used care in Manchester. Felt very looked after x

Valentina1985 · 04/11/2023 11:04

Morning girls, I need to confess I have been spending a lot of time googling about clinics, different treatments, reasons for bad egg quality, etc. I am still not sure about ARGC or CRGR or giving another try at Chelsea & Westminster. I am afraid the other clinics will try to do again all the tests and checks I have already done at C&W and delay the next round in several months... does anyone have an opinion and went from another clinic to one of these two?
I am sorry I keep sending these awkward requests but sometimes it feels there is nobody really to talk about these things. Given my age, nobody knows I am trying and my husband has somehow limited interest in the subject....

SarahShorty · 03/11/2023 19:32

Surely the doctor can see where to put the embryo?

OP posts:
Valentina1985 · 03/11/2023 19:09

@Triselly , this is essentially unacceptable. They admitted it was their fault?! Bizarre…

SarahShorty · 03/11/2023 17:44

@Triselly that does make sense. IVF really is more of an art than it is a science. That doesn't mitigate it of course because it has made me angry aswell.

Triselly · 03/11/2023 08:11

@Valentina1985 Our dr told us at our most recent embryo transfer that ‘sometimes the embryo can be pushed back a bit too hard from the catheter’ and that results in an ectopic, so this time they would be extra careful. As opposed to our first time where this happened and I had to have surgery. Which I suspected already as I’d done a lot of reading of medical studies and things as to why ectopics are higher with IVF, it was just mad to hear him confirm it. Sorry I’m genuinely not trying to give people more things to worry about. It just makes me feel angry in a way that I have never felt before.

Valentina1985 · 02/11/2023 22:18

@TheBirdintheCave so glad that all s going well for you! It feels there is some hope...
@Triselly , what do you mean by they put in the wrong place?!?!?!

TheBirdintheCave · 02/11/2023 22:02

@WholeZebra I'm sorry about your baby's kidneys that must be very worrying. Fingers crossed it's as your sonographer said and all is normal ❤️

@lemons44 I'm glad you've got some next steps in place! Your new consultant sounds really good!

I had my 12 week scan today and all is well :) Still measuring three days ahead. Baby looks just like its big brother 🥰

I also had my consultant letter in the post so we meet him on the 30th of Nov.

Triselly · 02/11/2023 21:35

Thinking of you @WholeZebra that sounds like such a terrifying thing to be told. It sounds like they will be monitoring you and your little one closely and will be on top of everything. How far away is your 32 week scan?

@lemons44 hello there, snap again. Our second round ended with nothing in the freezer too. I’m so sorry - it’s just exhausting and awful isn’t it. It’s great to hear that you have a plan of action for the next round though - what dates/month are you aiming for? Would you consider the genetic testing option some places do to test any embryos? I don’t think they do it at my clinic but I might try and see as so far we’ve had only had 1 embryo from 8 get to day 5 and that one they put back in the wrong place.

Our plan seems to be to just do exactly the same thing all over again. The clinic hasn’t offered any explanations or changes to protocol. I’m getting a bit fed up with them but we’ve got one round left in our package so just gonna have to throw everything at the same wall and see if anything sticks this time. We’re aiming for January as we just need a break.

Hope everyone else reading is doing well ❤️ (in spite of this storm I’ve heard has been bashing the south xxx)

WholeZebra · 02/11/2023 20:17

@CR7 absolutely! That’s my hope - but I can’t help myself worrying

@SarahShorty @Valentina1985 couldn’t say the cause for sure - it could be a blockage in the tubes from the bladder to the kidneys - or could be pushing the urine back up. Or could be a number of health conditions including Down’s syndrome - which they’re pretty sure it’s not.

@CR7 I have a repeat scan booked in for 32 weeks to see if it’s self resolved, which it could if it’s a blockage. If it’s not then potentially fetal surgery, or surgery postnatal… or long term antibiotics. Who knows… it all feels very up in the air - which I think isn’t helping at all.

@WholeZebra they could be totally happy in a few weeks. Everything can change so quickly
Xx

lemons44 · 02/11/2023 20:06

@Valentina1985 I've only had our initial consult so far but I am very happy with our consultant. We picked Mr Wael Saab as he is more familiar with male factor. Our urologist said they are really good and I've heard lots of good things so fingers crossed for both of us.
I really debated ARGC for ages... however I think their approach was a bit too intense for me (apparently it's literally like IVF bootcamp) and as our issue is male factor I'm not sure their methods are as relevant for us.
Did you pick your CRGH consultant? I hope it goes well on Monday.

Thanks @CR7 and @SarahShorty xx

WholeZebra · 02/11/2023 16:45

Had my 20 weeks scan today and baby was found to have dilated kidneys. The sonographer was great and stated that in England they wouldn’t be counted as dilated, but here in Wales they like them smaller for some reason. My mind is in overdrive and I can’t stop worrying.

What is happening next? Is there a plan in place x

CR7 · 02/11/2023 19:29

@lemons44 great to hear from you but sad that the journey is still ongoing for you. Glad they are changing up the protocol for you xx

SarahShorty · 02/11/2023 19:17

@lemons44 thank you xx I'm so sorry about your situation. I know it's horrible. Hopefully the new clinic and strategy work out for you. I have everything crossed for you xx

Hi @lemons44 , is CRGH good? I had 2 rounds at Chelsea & Westminster hospital but they make me feel so lonely on everything that I have scheduled an initial appointment with CRGH on Monday....
I was hoping to get a spot at ARGC but it has been 3 days I have been trying to schedule an initial appointment with them! They seem to have amazing fantastic success rates and a 3 week waiting list...
