I am so sorry @SouthwestSis . But please don't berate yourself. Every pregnancy comes with so much hope and every pregnancy deserves to be celebrated no matter how long it lasts.
My son is 3.5 years. So there will be a large age gap. I originally had also planned for a 2 year age gap in my mind. But after the trauma that wasn't to be. And I can see plenty of advantages in the age gap. Not only the fact that we won't need to pay for two kids in nursery.

@worldwidetravel2017 I have definitely read on the NHS that you are supposed to take folic acid before ttc ideally.
Also that you need to take a higher quantity if overweight.

Just wanted to pop in to say I had my private scan today. Saw one baby with a heartbeat. I was expecting to be 7 weeks and 5 days. But bub measured at 8 weeks 3 days. So 5 days further along. I got a positive ovulation stick 3 days before the average ovulation based on my cycle length. So maybe that and some inaccuracies in measurements explains tge discrepancy in gestation. But it shows it might be good to start DTD before you get a positive ovulation stick.
Anyway. I am sprinkling baby dust on all of you

@SouthwestSis Baileys hot choc sounds lush! On my case my CP seemed to just act as a normal period a few days late. I ovulated CD14/15 (counting first day of the bleeding as CD1) and actually did conceive again that cycle without a period in-between, although that then sadly became a loss too.... Which I then unintentionally conceived straight after as ovulation must have been delayed (wasn't tracking) - so I've not had a proper AF since August but have had two loss-bleeds that seem to have acted just the same in terms of resetting my cycle. Hope that makes sense. Wishing you all the best and hopefully your cycle will get back on track quickly too. 💕

SnookyPook · 09/12/2023 18:14

@SouthwestSis so very sorry to hear your news 😞 Agree with everyone else - there is nothing daft at all in getting your hopes up and daydreaming from the get-go so please don't berate yourself for that. I also very much understand you on not having the age-gap you had hoped for. Originally I wanted a 2 year gap.. my DS will be 3 in Jan so if my current pregnancy works out there will be 3yr 8month gap... I've largely made peace with it now and can see the benefits. I've also decided that whatever family we're given must be the right one for us. Maybe my son needed a bit more time as an only, maybe I needed more recovery time from newborn phase than I realised, maybe Hubby and I needed a bit more time before the relationship dynamic completely shifts again.. who knows. Anyway, I'm sending you a massive hug and hope you're as ok as can be. 2024 is just around the corner and hopefully will be bringing lovely news for everyone 💕

Thanks all for your well wishes, the worst of the pain was on Thurs and Fri, nasty cramps and backache but I haven't needed any painkillers today and my toddler has been keeping me distracted.
I had been taking normal dose folic acid for several months but had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy so should take higher dose in any subsequent pregnancy.
Have bought some Baileys to make myself a baileys hot chocolate tonight and going to have a nice long hot shower!
Anyone have any idea what tends to happen to your ovulation cycle after CP/early loss? I didn't have the most regular cycle in any case...

If you have a high BMI once you've conceived you're meant to be on a higher dose of folic acid. There may be other reasons too @worldwidetravel2017

I need to talk to Tommys or such

I started shop folic acid in june ish

Then mid July - 5 mg prescription due to 30.5 ish bmi..

Concieved from Aug ovulation

Very early miscarriage in Sept

I still took the folic acid in oct nov

But am now on a break from it

Sounnds kinda mad but my legs are better without it

My folate level is currently over 22...

I read in multiple sources that its best to take fA for 2 - 3 months before trying to concieve

So on that basis thought if i started it again in January - we could try and concieve again from March...

But yeah - i know there's diff forms // diff types
But my body / legs are positively so much bettter without it

Ladies I'm back, after a couple of positive tests a week and a half ago, I then started bleeding pretty heavily on Thurs/Fri this week so am assuming it was a chemical/very early loss and I am feeling so stupid for having got my hopes up, told my husband, doing the form to register with midwives, booking a GP appointment to get high dose folic acid.
Well and truly let myself get carried away with everything and feeling very sorry for myself now.
I had a wine at least to console myself but husband is away this weekend and could have done with some company. My best mates been having fertility difficulties for 2yrs and failed IVF so can't even talk to her about it.
It was the last chance to have a sibling only 2 school years below my little boy too.

Sorry to hear this

On the high dose folic acid front - im so confused - i thought we are / were supposed to have 5mg folic acid in us for 2 - 3 months before conception?
Have i got that wrong ?

Angelsrose · 09/12/2023 16:40

I'm sorry @SouthwestSis

Bumblebee413 · 09/12/2023 15:00

I’m so sorry @SouthwestSis. Are you in physical pain as well or are you managing to stay on top of it with painkillers? Please don’t kick yourself for doing any of the exciting new pregnancy things that you did. You did everything you were meant to do for this baby and it was completely reasonable to do everything you put in place. I’m so sorry for your loss xxx

Rather unfortunately it’s a stark BFN here. Still not sore boobs so rather unfortunately think this is going to be a prolonged cycle. Looking forward to it being over so we can start fresh in the new year.

CurlyWurly1991 · 09/12/2023 14:48

@SouthwestSis so sorry to hear that 😔 take care xxx

Catson · 09/12/2023 14:24

@SouthwestSis oh no I'm sorry to hear this. And totally normal to start planning everything 😢

@worldwidetravel2017 that’s really positive news- phew! Hope that the other results are as reassuring for you. Hope that you have a lovely weekend planned x

@Mrsspoon3 I would be feeling equally unsettled, but what lovely, helpful comments on here! I seriously learn so much from this group!

My holding out until DH’s birthday didn’t work so well! Got hit by another wave of nausea and cramping last night before bed and DH asked if I might be pregnant. Tried to explain it was very early, that I have just got a bug and that my boobs aren’t even sore yet, which they usually are before my period and were my first symptom last time. But given how POAS happy I am, it would have been weird to object and I figure good news is good news. Unfortunately it was a stark BFN at approx 11 DPO, so went to bed feeling unwell AND disgruntled 😂

It doesn’t feel like it’s our month unfortunately- I just don’t feel it in myself. Will test again tomorrow because POAS addiction 😂 but am planning to lean into Christmas and relaxing as much as possible over the next month x

RoseH36 · 08/12/2023 08:53

@Mrsspoon3 as others have said I'd try not to worry too much, having a strong heartbeat is amazing in itself. Have you been booked in for another scan?

CurlyWurly1991 · 08/12/2023 07:08

Hey @FigandHoney thank you, I’m doing ok thanks, feeling mild cramping, sore boobs and the beginnings of nausea. Kind of welcome though I guess, even though it feels crap.
how are you getting on?
sending good luck Christmassy bfp and happy pregnancy vibes to everyone xx

FigandHoney · 07/12/2023 22:24

@VixFromThe6ix I am sorry it sounds like you might not get a clear answer on the vanishing twin and from the NIPT test. Not what you need.
If the results give you the all clear is that for certain? As in is it just a bad result that might be unclear?
And is there nothing they can do to ascertain whether there was a twin or not?
Sorry if my questions are stupid

FigandHoney · 07/12/2023 22:20

Just wanted to pop in to say congratulations @CurlyWurly1991 . How are you doing?

@Mrsspoon3 I am sorry your ultrasound has spooked you. Try to concentrate on baby being there and with a strong heartbeat. That's really good. This early the tiniest fraction of a mm makes a difference in gestation. At 7 weeks baby is only 9mm and at 6 weeks it is 5mm. Ultrasounds are more of an art than an exact science. So a small mistake in measurement could explain it. Also sperm can last 7 days inside you and then some embryos take a little longer to implant. With my son for instance I didn't get a bfp until 4 days after my missed af with a bfn the day of my expected af. He measured smaller on the 6 week scan I had but was bang on at 12 weeks.

Angelsrose · 07/12/2023 22:18

Try not to worry @Mrsspoon3 the NHS sonographers said a measurement within 7 days of your own estimate is perfectly normal. Congratulations ❤️

SnookyPook · 07/12/2023 21:49

@Mrsspoon3 I completely agree with @Catson whilst also acknowledging that I would be feeling equally as worried if it was me. But really, depending on rotation of image, time to implantation etc, measurements could be slightly off and because they're so tiny, any slight misread could mean days difference in estimate. The good heartbeat is a great sign. Try not to worry too much (far easier said than done I know) 💕

Catson · 07/12/2023 18:55

@Mrsspoon3 try not to worry, the measurements are based on the size of the baby so it is maybe growing normally but slower than average. Also, say you ovulated 5 days after, there's then the conception and implantation which can take a good few days, and there is no exact science for how long. Also, I know people who have had early scans then the go back for one just a couple of weeks later and baby is back up where expected. Remember at this stage they are tiny, tiny things so getting a completely accurate size will be hard. If there's a good heartbeat and the last wasn't concerned then I wouldn't be either. How many weeks would you be based on the first day of your LMP?

Mrsspoon3 · 07/12/2023 18:42

Thanks so much for the messages 💗
So I’m not sure what to make of the scan. There was definitely a baby and a strong heartbeat apparently, so that’s really good! However, I know I am at least 7 weeks pregnant today, but probably a bit more. I don’t know when I ovulated but we only had sex once, so the minimum of 7 weeks would be if I ovulated 5 days after we had sex as apparently sperm can live in the body for a maximum of 5 days. However, I only measured 6 weeks 3 days on the scan. I asked if I should be worried and explained briefly the situation, but she didn’t seem to get it and said I could only be sure of the dates if I had IVF. However for me to be 6 weeks 3 days his sperm would have had to survive in my body for 11 days!! I’m really anxious about the baby measuring around a week smaller than it should be!
