So sorry about your loss, sending love, have a lovely festive period and I am sure your 5 Yo will have the best time! Xx

RoseH36 · 24/12/2023 19:33

Still negative on a first response test so really not sure what to think at the moment. Will continue with the progesterone and leave it a few days to test again if nothing happens in the meantime.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas 🎄

@worldwidetravel2017 we are under the fertility clinic now as we have been trying to conceive longer than 6 months and I'm 35. We just got our appointment through for them and we were seen last week. I had a scan and everything looks mostly ok, but my C-section scar could be causing issue. I've had all the day 21 tests which showed no spike in progesterone. But my internal scan last week showed that I had ovulated. And obviously I had given that we had two positive pregnancy tests. I have just been diagnosed with Graves' disease so on meds for that which could also have been the cause. Been taking the meds for about 4 weeks now. Here's hoping that by being able to get pregnant this month, it will somehow make it easier next cycle! Trying to look for the positives and enjoy the next few days with my family and enjoy a drink or two. DD is 5 next month and very very excited for Christmas so I have that to focus on. Helps with the sadness

The thing is - with no spike in progesterone - sounds like progesterone meds will help next time

I had transvaginal scan in summer
It showed ' just 'a small fibroid
.
I had an abdomen mri NHS in dec - showed extra gynae stuff - extra cysts - bulky right ovary
( this was not seen on transvaginal six months ago)

If you can afford an abdominal ct scan
Or even better - pelvis/ abdomen mri ' could be helpful

MRI is gold standard

Transvaginal doesn't always pick everything up

Just an idea

Ace that you have a 5 yo

Enjoy xmas

@worldwidetravel2017 no I haven't heard of it. DH just asked me if we should let the fertility clinic know we had a couple of positive tests before AF and I wasn't sure. I maybe will now! Thanks for the info x

Definitely let them know

Progesterone could make all the difference next time

If you look on tommys baby charity website - so many positive after miscarriage stories with progesterone next time

Make sure your NHS gp knows and notes it too - you need 2 be able to take progesterone fast next

Numark 5 - 6 day early tests are good
.they picked up our first pregnancy v early
.( we didn't expect to get preg 2nd cycle trying)
Then we didnt expect it to go wrong so fast

Progesterone may make all the difference next time

Have you ever had 'day 21 tests 'done 3 / 4 days after ovulation??
Whilst you carry on trying to concieve - its good to also get that test done few times to see if the issue is low progesterone as if it is - that canbe fixed

Also - worthwhile getting your feretin and vit d checked

Some females dont get preg til good feretin

Equally - good vit d - over 70 for vit d number reduces miscarriage risk

The book it starts with an egg
Has lotsa good stuff re vit d

Pregnancy aside - brits need vit d esp in oct to March

Last marchmy vit d was just 33 ish
Thenwe got it to 77
Then 89

Actimel drink has 1 / 3 of daily vit d in
Take that with 1000 - 2000 iu vit d a day
Or @ least discuss with fertility clinic
Again - that can make a positive difference

Zinc daily is also good and recommended - discuss with NHS gp
Or fertility clinic.

Early miscarriage // any miscarriage is hard

Tommys midwives are ace 2 talk to

Back open in jan

My bean didn't stick 😢. AF arrived. But trying to look for the good things, at least we know we can get pregnant. After a year of BFNs it was nice to have a BFP even if it was brief 😔

Are you aware of the july 2023 pregnancy loss review ?

Def get the pregnancy on your record...

You can get progesterone fast next time then

I'm definitely out this cycle.

I get so confused by tests too. It doesn't make any sense to me at all! I think there are a couple brands that people have found more reliable so I generally go with that rather than the "sensitivity".

So sorry 2 read this

worldwidetravel2017 · 24/12/2023 12:00

Sung 2 the tune of a partridge in a pear tree...

Two colonoscopies
Two MRI'sssss
2 gas-tros-copiessssss
And a transvagina-allllllll

#2023 ^

#hospitalyear

( mri found some cysts and i havea ' slightly bulky right ovary..
My ca125 is 70 ish..
people with ovarian cancer often have a score in the 100s )

Then there's liver fibro scan
Oh and another colonoscopy - with a CAP

,ughhhh

Frustrating year .

Really hoping we can try again in March..

Have multiple hosp appts in Jan

Was offered a new patt time job recently..
They have 2 do loads of checks
But should be starting there in Feb

Have a lovely festive season all

RoseH36 · 24/12/2023 11:00

@jellyfish2210 is so sorry. Seems so cruel that it got your hopes up like that.

They are too confusing. I guess there are so many variables though as it all depends when you actually ovulate and how long it takes conception/implantation to happen.

@SnookyPook thank you, that makes me feel a bit better. I'm probably around 12/13dpo.

Will test later then and see what happens.

SnookyPook · 24/12/2023 09:36

@jellyfish2210 so sorry my lovely. Here's to brighter days in 2024 xx

@RoseH36 I use the OneStep but from what I've seen online they're not as great at the early detection as they ought to be if the sensitivity is correct. I've only ever used them from 14dpo and have always had faint lines initially. It's all a bit baffling isn't it. Consensus does seem to be that once you're past AF due date most of them should detect something though. Good luck! X

Bumblebee413 · 24/12/2023 09:16

I’m sorry @jellyfish2210 xxx

RoseH36 · 24/12/2023 08:39

@jellyfish2210 I hope that settles down and doesn't mean anything.

I'm so confused by pregnancy tests. I've been using the One Step strips on and off the last few days, all have been negative. They have a sensitivity of 10mlU. The 2 First Response ones have also been negative, I last took one of those 2 days ago. Their sensitivity is 25mlU.

I always thought the First Response ones were the more sensitive but clearly not. So now I just feel confused. AF due today, still no sign of anything. The aches and twinges I had in the week have stopped. I've had the odd tiny bit of cramping on and off but it doesn't resemble my usual period cramps. Same with my boons, a bit achey on and off but that's it.

I was planning to do another First Response late afternoon but not sure there is a point if the strip one is coming up negative 😪

Still spotting on wiping though so trying hard not to get my hopes up

RoseH36 · 23/12/2023 17:43

@jellyfish2210 I definitely see a line, tentative congratulations ❤️

Lalaland13 · 23/12/2023 15:15

I would say so! Congrats! Xx

jellyfish2210 · 23/12/2023 14:30

RoseH36 · 23/12/2023 09:09

@Cressie2 thanks Cressie. Hopefully his will come back fine too but he's 46 now so I know age is against both of us really.

Do still pop on and let us know how you're going though, lots of us have followed your journey and I agree with @SouthwestSis that the ladies like you who are getting BFPs do give us hope.

@SouthwestSis Hope your husband is better soon. Nothing worse than being ill and forcing yourself to BD, that was me last month and hubby in the past too. I thought I was finally over this virus, although I do still have a bit of a cough, but woke up with a sore throat yesterday.

Hope you have a brilliant day celebrating Christmas. Don't be too hard on yourselves if you don't get to BD, sometimes a break can do you good.

@jellyfish2210 AF is due tomorrow for me too. Hope the spotting doesn't come to anything and you're not out yet.

jellyfish2210 · 23/12/2023 08:50

AF due tomorrow, I have some light spotting but took a test anyway because I'm obsessed and have convinced myself I can see a line. Think I'm just so desperate to see one that I'm seeing things. Will test again tomorrow.

So lovely to have a few positive tests in this group. Congratulations to all of you!

SouthwestSis · 23/12/2023 08:26

Huge congratulations @Khanga27 !
Can't wait to hear your updates over the next couple of months.
@Cressie2 don't worry too much, it's nice to see that there is hope I think for us over 35's!

My update was that my OPKs peaked on Wednesday but husband didn't feel well enough to BD until yesterday, will try and see if he's up for it again today but we are celebrating Christmas with his family today as I'm working shifts on 25-27th so it will be a challenge!

Cressie2 · 22/12/2023 23:06

Good move @RoseH36 I’m glad your consultant has checked your bloods and hope that they can help with DH too.

Thank you @SnookyPook, I was just like you in the waiting room and thankfully they found a heartbeat so I can breathe, for now. 7weeks + 1 day today. You must be around the same? I’m so happy but as you know, not out of the woods just yet.

I personally found it hard when I was trying to see others get their BFPs, so I don’t want to talk about my pregnancy on this forum anymore as it’s not really fair.

I wanted to say a huge thank you all for your support, which was really needed, and for being the platform I could go to, to vent my frustrations along the way.

You are all amazing women. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and sending loads of baby dust to you all over the next few months 💕💕💕

RoseH36 · 22/12/2023 22:33

@Bumblebee413 very true, I've looked back at my last cycle and the evening before AF was due was when I had the line that was so faint I wasn't sure it was there. On this basis I've decided I've going to use a pessary tonight, I'd rather waste a couple of days of them than discover I am pregnant and regret not using them for a day or so. Why is all this TTC stuff so dam hard and confusing.

Bumblebee413 · 22/12/2023 18:38

Sounds like a plan @RoseH36. Fingers crossed- it’s not over until the fat red lady… um… sings….
