Talking of deadline - I’m 39 in September, wtaf! How did that happen! I really wanted to have given birth again before I was 39…. I’m guessing that won’t be happening now!

Have a friend who had her first baby same time as me and she was 40 in October and is waiting to try for number to so she can have a summer baby, I’ve tried to warn her it doesn’t seem to be as easy second time round but I think deep down she isn’t that yearning to have another like her hubby is

Bumblebee413 · 30/12/2023 07:37

Happy Birthday @worldwidetravel2017. I’m sorry- I can fully understand it being a really tough day for you. Glad that you have lunch to look forward to, are you going anywhere nice? I can’t begin to imagine how hard the last two months have been for you and nothing is going to remove those struggles.

Despite it all, you have taken so many steps to get your body in the best possible position for conceiving this baby. You know about your liver condition now too, which will help you manage it in pregnancy and you have sought out counselling for yourself too, so making sure that you are looking after every element of your health.

I know that your arms are aching for your baby today and it’s good to be able to acknowledge that pain as you are doing, rather than writing it off. But if you can today, try and make sure that you celebrate the bad ass, tough cookie of a woman that you are. Because you are amazing and you keep going and you’re getting stronger each day, even when the opposite feels true x

Lalaland13 · 30/12/2023 07:36

Ohh sorry missed your messages - happy birthday @worldwidetravel2017 have a lovely lunch!

ohh and you make me LOL @Bumblebee413

oh have ordered a basal body temp things - isn’t that meant to be most accurate? Then I saw a friend and she said the Apple Watch 8 or newer can do it, I have a old Apple Watch 4.., maybe time for a upgrade 😂😂 my husband would kill me! I only use it for reading texts usually!

Lalaland13 · 30/12/2023 07:31

Oh yes it is all consuming alright!! Do you ever almost forget for a minute then bang - waiting waiting waiting! With my son was the first month trying and I think we only DTD three times around when I thought was ovulating per an app! It was soooo easy!!

Am on cycle day 26 here, didn’t get a proper positive OPK but the most dark I think was 19th, then it got lighter again. We DTD 6 times from 15th to 24th… in my head previous months we haven’t been timing it right and why it’s not worked but surely this month we timed it okay?! But I have zero symptoms - although Boxing Day I really thought it was our month for some reason! But now I’ve just tested and it’s about as negative as it can get lol! And now have bad head ache - like I get before period!

I can’t really remember any early symptoms for my little one, I don’t know if I didn’t have any or my memory is that bad!

worldwidetravel2017 · 30/12/2023 07:16

Tough times here
My 37th bday today
Reeally wanted to be preg by this bday
But equally - shouldht beat myself up too much about it
As couldnt try the last 2 months

Still have some medical investigations on going in January
But think im guna restart 5mg folic acid today so we can try from march

Going out 4 lunch later which will be nice

Bumblebee413 · 30/12/2023 07:13

@RoseH36 sorry! I think from the article it definitely isn’t the norm. If I’m honest it’s just me trying to make myself feel a little better. I was so certain that I was ovulating just before my period. I couldn’t find anything else to explain the EWCM and those ten days without a period or a positive test were the exact rollercoaster you and @JC084 describe. It felt really good to latch onto my body still ovulating rather than just being a bit useless/ perimenopausal.

So, I’ve definitely done that 😆 There is some confusion over quite how and when we managed to conceive my daughter as that was an exceptionally ‘quiet’ month for us, so it really wouldn’t surprise me if I do ovulate in a pretty bizarre way. Even though I’m CD 6 right now I’ve decided to put myself in the TWW. I had a super short, 4 day period which is unusual for me and my boobs are still sore, which is also weird. Going to do a test next Friday because that will be two weeks after I think I ovulated and I need to know if my theory is right. Although I could be right and not actually conceive… 🧐

I’m just here to make everyone else feel more sane. You’re welcome 😁

RoseH36 · 29/12/2023 23:01

@Bumblebee413 nooo don't add anymore confusion to the mix 🤣 I struggle enough to know if I've timed it right when using OPKs 😂

@SouthwestSis glad you've enjoyed some time with family. Haha I don't think any rest is possible with toddlers. I'm zapped of energy all the time.

@JC084 it consumes every minute. It definitely wasn't this stressful first time round for me, I think that's because it all happened so easily though and I naively thought it would be this time too.

JC084 · 29/12/2023 21:42

@RoseH36 lovely to hear from you. Sorry to hear - it's such a hard time isn't it. It's consuming me! I'm not sure I remember jt being this stressful first time round!

@Bumblebee413 thank you! I had a spell at the start of the year where I had really long cycles. So frustrating.

@SouthwestSis thank you! Good luck for your 2ww. I was thankful I had my 3 yr old and my husbands birthday keeping me busy during mine so I tried not to think about it all too much

SouthwestSis · 29/12/2023 21:34

Oh thinking of you @JC084 , I understand why you'd feel tentative but this is a step in the right direction for you again at least.

I've finally finished my Christmas work shifts and have managed to have a few days with family which has been nice. I'm in 2ww atm so trying to keep busy and take care of myself, toddler has other ideas preventing me from too much rest!

Bumblebee413 · 29/12/2023 19:11

Congratulations @JC084! Definitely don’t blame you for taking a breather.

As part of embracing my role as the thread lunatic, look what I found; https://www.babycenter.com/getting-pregnant/how-to-get-pregnant/can-you-get-pregnant-on-or-right-after-your-period_7094.

It’s justification for my certainty that I ovulated just before my period. I mean, it was a 49 day cycle, so the rule book is already out the window right?? 🤪

Can you get pregnant on your period or before and after it?

Find out whether you can get pregnant on your period, or in the days right before or after.

RoseH36 · 29/12/2023 08:52

@JC084 I was thinking of you and wondering how you were getting on having gone through a CO at the exact same time as each other. Keeping everything crossed for you. I was so convinced I was pregnant again so started progesterone. All my tests were negative and looks like the progesterone delayed my period, should have been due Christmas Eve and its only just starting now. It had taken 5 cycles to get pregnant last month so now dreading it taking that long again.

JC084 · 28/12/2023 21:09

How is everyone doing?
I had to take a little break from this app as I was getting too stressed about the whole ttc thing after an early miscarriage and a chemical last month.
I know there were a few of us in the same boat.
I'm on that emotional rollercoaster again and had a faint line appear on Xmas day at 11dpo.
The lines have got a bit darker and I'm just hoping and praying this one progresses 🥹
Am away at the moment but when I get home
Will do a digital. Did one yesterday but not with FMU (error!) and it was negative. I'm hoping I'm just too early...

Hope everyone is ok. Sorry - have read bwck through a few messages but not all! 😅
@Khanga27 - huge congrats!

Cressie2 · 27/12/2023 18:55

Wonderful news @Khanga27! What a lovely thing to find out around Christmas time ❤️

RoseH36 · 27/12/2023 18:38

@Bumblebee413 hope the lemon tart was nice 😋

This is definitely not the time of year to be eating well, too many nice things around.

Fullofconfusion · 27/12/2023 15:51

I’m a stone heavier than when I was last trying too. Winter comfort food is also a must for me! I’m happy where I am but also wouldn’t mind shifting half a stone or so

Bumblebee413 · 27/12/2023 15:33

Such lovely lines @Khanga27 ❤️ Thank you for sharing x

I’d managed to lose 7lbs pre Christmas and my DH coming back, however I’m fairly certain it’s all back on again! Have been hiding from the scales 😂 I’m ok with it though- I made the food choices I did and if I work on it I can shift it. But for now, I’m about to go and eat lemon tart for pudding.

RoseH36 · 27/12/2023 15:09

@Khanga27 great line about not drinking. I only ever used to drink when we went out, which with a 3 year old isn't often these days, but haven't touched a drop since Feb. This is mostly because every social event ive managed to get to has fallen in the TWW this year.

My aim for 2024 is to shift a few pounds. I still weigh about a stone more than I did before having my son. I did really well this year at losing quite a bit but have put some of it back on the last few months. Always find winter hard as I just want comforting foods.

Fullofconfusion · 27/12/2023 10:43

@Khanga27 that’s brilliant, great news. And I love the line about not drinking, I may keep that one for future use!

Khanga27 · 27/12/2023 10:25

Thanks all for the congratulations. I have tried to just focus on Christmas celebrations (sober of course) so haven’t been on much. Got a stronger line on Saturday than the original Thursday and have decided not to do another test until the weekend. Had a bit of bloating and nausea and been REALLY tired. Also a few questions about me not drinking which I’ve just said was due to a little weight gain and it being easier to give up than chocolate and cake around Christmas time 😅

I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas.

I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas.

Sending love and best wishes to those that didn’t get the BFP that they were wishing for. My AF was right before Christmas (but had happily cleared off before the big day) so I’m hopeful that 2024 will bring me my BFP.

@Cressie2 i hope you will share a few updates. I like to follow people’s journeys and when you see someone who has been in the same boat as you get the news that you’re wishing for it makes it feel like you’ll get there too. Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy.

I’m back to work tomorrow so going to spend today attempting to make my house resemble less of a bomb site after the Christmas festivities!

RoseH36 · 26/12/2023 22:20

@Lalaland13 you sound just like me. DS is 4 in Feb and there is a part of me that feels like I've been obsessing over another so much that I'm not always fully present when spending time with him.

@Bumblebee413 that must be such a relief! Your thoughts just go off on a tangent don't they? I've been wondering if there is a chance of not ovulating even though OPKs show you hit a peak so that's been on my mind. Didn't even know it may be possible to ovulate more than once a cycle.

Good idea seeing your GP. Although we've said we're putting a deadline on things when I looked back through the cycles since the June CP there was 1 I didn't test amd 2 where we only dtd once instead of twice so in theory only 2 of the 5 we actually properly tried. It's made us ensure we dtd twice last cycle and this one.

Did start a thread asking how long after AF others tested positive. Had one person respond saying progesterone can delay periods. I wouldn't have thought it would have happened in my case though as I only started it on the 22nd because I had no signs AF was coming so can't imagine it would have delayed things that fast. I'm off it now though so will see what happens.

Bumblebee413 · 26/12/2023 20:07

Hello, hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.

AF finally arrived yesterday on CD 49. I’m relieved it’s over. My mind was just flip flopping between ‘It will come eventually, this just isn’t the cycle’ and Actually, why are my boobs so sore and I’m without a period? Maybe I’m not out yet??’. I don’t feel like I have very much trust in my body at the moment. I was having really significant EWCM from days 44-48 and I can’t find anything that explains that other than ovulating but surely you can’t do that just before AF? Because of how the hormones work?

But then I’ve read that they think now that maybe bodies ovulate more frequently than once per cycle. Then I just wonder whether if I did ovulate then and it takes ten days to implant, could AF have finished in time for an embryo to find a nice spot to set up camp? Although then there wouldn’t be any lining…. 🤯 Which I probably wouldn’t want anyway because the placenta could go too deep.

I think the healthiest thing is to lay that all aside and hope for the best. Because that’s all I can do. We will go see the GP in March if no baby by then as we will have been trying for a year, but in reality five months when we’ve actually both lived in the same house since he’s been back.

Lalaland13 · 26/12/2023 19:07

Yeah the waiting is so hard - I’m finding it really hard to stay present and not obsess over reading into every feeling! Really need to work on it as my little man is growing so fast as they all do and don’t want to miss it obsessing over getting pregnant!

jellyfish2210 · 26/12/2023 15:09

@RoseH36 I find waiting for AF really hard. Just consumes my every thought right now.

Hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday. All things considered we had a great day. My 5 year old danced and sung the day away, bringing lots of smiles and laughter. Had awful cramping but it was definitely easier to bear with her antics making me laugh.

RoseH36 · 26/12/2023 11:51

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Thought I'd buy a Clearblue and see if that gave a different result, still negative.

Will stop the testing and pegesterone now and see when AF turns up. The last CP didn't affect my cycle and as the one last month happened even quicker I assumed the same, especially as OPK suggested I peaked when I normally would.

I've just never been late in my life expect when being pregnant so this has really thrown me.
