Feel like giving up. Day 21 progesterone

Hi, I’m new here and I have never felt so low and helpless. Ever since I started my ttc journey it’s been constant unanswered questions. I had my day 21 progesterone levels checked last month, was 28.4nmol, I did this on day 23 and this was 4 days before t period was due. Did my levels again today for this month, day 20 this time, and it’s 29. Am I ovulating? What is going on. They say it needs to be 30 but I’m just under. Has anyone else had a borderline test? Also I’ve had an internal scan both times too, the radiologist said they could see I had ovulated, they saw a cyst so I just don’t understand what’s going on. Any help is so helpful as im spiralling :(

@Elishattc thats a lovely rise in your HCG! We all complain about the 2WW but my god that wait for your scan feels like months doesn’t it lol I hope everything goes amazing for you!

10DPO with a negative but still hopeful!

Elishattc · 23/10/2023 20:11

@Longtobe2023 Progesterone went from 41 to 46 so it’s staying up but when I had a scan on Saturday ( I had cramps) they said I had a really good thick lining and that’s essentially what progesterone does so unless it goes down I won’t worry! My HCG was tested by my midwife and went from 252 to 623 today :), can’t wait for the scan! I got my bfp from a frer 10dpo, 8dpo I tested and it was completely negative! X

@Elishattc I can imagine the worry and stress doesn’t subside even seeing your HCG doubling, we’re such whittlers aren’t we!

hopefully your progesterone is looking good and your early scan goes as well as it can!

how many DPO did you get your BFP?

Elishattc · 23/10/2023 16:23

Thank you :) I had my hcg bloods at 13dpo 138 and 15dpo 326 so it’s going well but beyond stressful. Had a progesterone test today, if it’s low I’ll start tablets tomorrow, have 2 more lots of hcg bloods and then an early scan next week to see little bean ❤️ I’m extremely grateful but I’ve never felt more stressed and worried! Baby dust to everyone else, I never thought it would happen for me! X

@moosey89 ive just rang the doctors and the receptionist said my results came back satisfactory, I asked what the progesterone level was and that said 50.1? Is that good?

moosey89 · 17/10/2023 22:22

@Longtobe2023 thank you, I hope so too! Hope your bloods give you either reassurance or knowledge - either way at least you will be able to make a plan!

IlonaRN · 17/10/2023 21:49

Just seen your update - Congratulations!!

IlonaRN · 17/10/2023 21:48

I would recommend charting your temperatures first thing in the morning for a few cycles. You may be ovulating earlier or later than you think.

Fwiw, I once had a "day 21" progesterone test on day 40. When asked why, I said "because I thought I ovulated on day 33, and it looks like I did!".

After that, I didn't need the progesterone tests any more, and just went by temperature changes.

Longtobe2023 · 17/10/2023 21:44

@moosey89 hopefully since you know your low they will start the ball rolling sooner rather than later with progesterone!

im so nervous that my levels could be the lowest of lows but I really need to find out too and it scares the life out of me.

I really hope you get your referral bumped up and get all the help you deserve ✨

Allaboard209 · 17/10/2023 21:13

@Elishattc wonderful news!!

moosey89 · 17/10/2023 16:39

@Longtobe2023 I've just started with some private tests etc to get going - I've had a fertility clinic referral but I think it's at least a 6 month wait! I've got miscarriage clinic appointment in November so I'm hoping that if I manage to get pregnant with some help from private (keeping fingers crossed it's just help ovulating!) then hopefully NHS can do progesterone prescription as I know I'm low.

Longtobe2023 · 17/10/2023 16:34

@Elishattc im having the 21 day progesterone test to see if I actually do ovulate, it took 2.5 years to get a period after the repo, a further 1 year till I got a positive OPK and then fell pregnant in May (MMC June) and now trying again. I’ve had all the signs like EWCM, peaks on OPK and confirmed by my BBT but nothing yet so hoping to get some answers on my bloods.

oh my god the doctors here in the UK are useless! Mine didn’t even care to book my bloods in on the right day so after these tests I’m going private if I don’t conceive this month.

keeping positive though! Nearly 1 week over of my TWW so getting there haha!

are you giving up testing now or will curiosity get the better of you for line progression?

Elishattc · 17/10/2023 16:12

@Longtobe2023 nope! I don’t feel pregnant at all. I’m not emotional or anything. I caught a cold off my partner which won’t budge and I normally have a really good immune system but other than that absolutely nothing! I had more symptoms coming on AF than now! I did also get some pinching on the side ovulated from but that could be me feeling everything and being super aware! X

Congratulations!

Elishattc · 17/10/2023 16:09

@Longtobe2023 also what bloods do you have?I think it really helps with the TWW when you have blood tests etc, I used to drive myself insane! You’re doing all the right things, have you seen a fertility specialist or a GP, are they any good? I’m in the UK and my gp knows absolutely nothing so I have private health insurance, doesn’t cover fertility but i can see a gyno which i did and she done my fertility bits like a HSG under her which was so helpful x

@Elishattc ahhh this is fantastic news!! Congratulations ✨ keep us updated how your getting on! Have you got many symptoms yet (other than sore boobs) they’re the worst lol

Elishattc · 17/10/2023 15:56

@Longtobe2023 thank you!! No it’s not silly at all!! I kept saying to my boyfriend I have a weird feeling it was going to be my month, I just felt it and my boobs were sore from 1DPO and just got worse and worse where they normally get sore 1 to 2 days before AF. I honestly wish you all the baby dust and being positive really does help 🥰✨ x @Allaboard209 the top one is from yesterday the bottom 3 are from this morning :) im really happy with the progression but I’m still in shock and don’t think it’s real!

Longtobe2023 · 16/10/2023 17:07

@Elishattc ooooh it’s looking very promising ✨ keep us all updated! I have a feeling this may be my month, I don’t know why I just do (does that make me sound crazy) haha! I’m 4DPO so still a while to wait, got my bloods on Friday so That’l be interesting what the results are!

Anotheranxiousone · 16/10/2023 15:54

Looks pregnant and progesterone of 41 would also be indicative of that. Best of luck!

Allaboard209 · 16/10/2023 14:29

Elishattc · 16/10/2023 08:11

moosey89 · 14/10/2023 20:52

@Allaboard209 thank you - yeah I am lucky in so far as my cycles are very regular and 27/28 days so day 20 or 21 works for me.

Allaboard209 · 14/10/2023 14:37

Probably know this already, but mentioning it as I was surprised when I found out, but the day 21 test should be done 7 days before your expected period. I.e for most people It shouldn't be done on day 21 because of cycle variance. This does make a difference to the levels they find. hope it helps

moosey89 · 13/10/2023 22:35

@Elishattc no - they won't until you see a specialist😢 it's so bloody annoying. I know something is wrong but it's such a battle to get it fixed!!
