Any other lurkers out there patiently (or impatiently!) waiting to TTC in the new year?

Anything in particular you're doing to prepare?

So sorry, @MrsRandallFraser. Hopefully this next cycle is the good one.

@WonderingAboutBabies, fingers crossed for you (even if you count yourself out!)

I had my hysteroscopy and there is no fibroid. I am on CD1, so happy to start finally the journey, and without that worry over my head.

WonderingAboutBabies · 02/02/2024 13:36

Hello! We didn't really try in January, we just DTD a couple of times. I did get a bit excited and started overthinking everything but AF arrived of course. Im ovulating this weekend and we've DTD once in the last couple of days and DH has just been struck down by the flu so I think we're out for this month!!

@MrsRandallFraser definitely go as soon as your AF ends - my ovulation is quite soon after finishing AF - it's about CD12-13 and AF finishes CD8!! 😮

skyerojo · 02/02/2024 13:17

@MrsRandallFraser sorry to hear that, but great you have a plan already for this month 💪 maybe valentines will help work some magic too hehe

@skyerojo AF arrived last night for me so back to CD1. Got a BFN at 10DPO so not entirely unexpected. Looking back at my cycles I seem to be ovulating earlier than my apps predict so I think we just need to start DTD every other day as soon as AF ends. So that's now the plan for this cycle!

skyerojo · 01/02/2024 18:57

Hey everyone, how's January been for those trying? Sending luck 🍀

@skyerojo I think May is the most likely time for us to start properly too!

We are likely to not be careful this month, and weren't on CD10 - however I'm away with work during when it would be ovulation, so it's very unlikely! I'm not tracking ovulation or doing anything like that, when it comes to actually trying we'll just regularly do it for a period of time! Id probably only consider that if after 6 months of active trying nothing happened. That was also my plan when TTC our first.

Hope you're all doing well and fingers crossed for lots of October babies!

Solyaire · 19/01/2024 06:07

@skyerojo, sounds like you’ve got a plan. Hope when you get at it in spring all goes smoothly.

This month, finally, I have my hysteroscopy, so have we also have to wait to next month to start TTC. Or a couple more months, if they find/do something. But overall I am very happy I can finally get that small fibroid checked.

I will continue testing, so I will start OPKs tomorrow for this cycle.

skyerojo · 18/01/2024 20:26

Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well.

I've been dropping into the background a bit on here recently as we're going to push this back a bit, probs start around May now instead.

But still exciting to watch all your progress in the meantime! Fingers crossed this is a lucky month for people.

My cycle (typically) has started to become quite irregular suddenly, so I might start using OPKs next month just to see if I can learn any sort of pattern before TTC.

Baby dust ✨

Hey! Joining the party here. We've been "seeing what happens" for a good few months now to no avail. So this month is first of fully going for it! Cycle day 1 today, so a couple of weeks to wait and prepare. started taking some supplements for both of us to try and help. Hopefully this month might be it!

Solyaire · 13/01/2024 10:45

I checked the book and it says to start OPKs on CD10, if cycle is longer than 26. If they are longer, subtracting 20 days from the average length and starting OPKs that day.

The book, in general, is easy to read and have some good tips, I would really recommend. We will be using the plan.

I can’t speak on BBT, never done it, sorry (when I read about it and how so many factors can affect it, I knew I would get stressed not having everything under control). Maybe someone here has experience and can help.

Alh96 · 13/01/2024 10:10

@Solyaire my cycles are anywhere from 29-36 days. Used to be regular until TTC. Do you recommend checking BBT as well?

StampOnTheGround · 13/01/2024 08:19

I've decided to give it a go this month anyway, problem is I am away with work over most of my fertile window (2 different apps are saying 2 different windows - but both cover a lot of when I'm away!).

When we fell pregnancy with first DC, we just did it every day for about 8 days. So I feel like it won't happen this month as I can probably only do it twice - the day I leave and the day I come back, but I suppose it only takes one go!

Hope you're all doing okay! I'm CD6 today so not there yet, but I'm still excited.

Solyaire · 13/01/2024 07:42

@Sarah452 you are so right! 😅 it’s very inconvenient to be impatient when it comes to TTC and the TWW. Hopefully now that you’re further in your DPOs you get good news!

@MrsRandallFraser, thank you for the advise! And hopefully this new cycle is the good one for you.

I didn’t test while away, so the clearblue was “to know” as I was way too impatient and didn’t have access to the cheapie ones. Once I got back home, I allowed myself to test once to see a negative. I am now very much relaxed (but let’s see once my brain is actually on TTC mode)

@Alh96, what’s the average length of your cycles? That will tell you when to start testing. OPKs normally have instructions on when to start, I also remember that, at least the book “The Sperm meets Egg Plan” includes guidance even if you are not regular. For reference, when I was tracking to learn about my cycle I did from CD7-8 to CD14-15, because my cycles are short, so that I could register a wide trend, and continued if it showed a “late” peak (never more than a couple of days) to have a couple of low tests at the end.

Now that we will TTC, I will probably start testing on CD6.

Alh96 · 12/01/2024 21:35

CD1 :( TTC FOR 12 months. Just started taking Macaroot after lots of great reviews as I have nothing to lose. When does everyone start testing ovulation in their cycle? I want to track it more closely. I want my miracle baby in 2024 :(

MrsRandallFraser · 09/01/2024 08:11

@Solyaire AF arrived Sunday night for me so just come out of the TWW.

I had two apps saying my period would arrive on the 4th Jan and one saying the 11th. So obviously when it didn't arrive on the 4th I started testing 🤦🏼‍♀️ I've just got the cheapie ones which were obviously negative but decided I'd buy a digital clearblue to confirm if it was positive. Like you, I dont want to waste money on a digital text if I'm getting BFNs on the cheapie ones.

No advice other than to keep busy really! By the time AF appeared, it was almost a relief so I could get on with the next cycle.

Sarah452 · 09/01/2024 08:03

@Timeforacutie great yours have regulated too! Fingers crossed for you this month!

@Solyaire I’m massively struggling I’m 5DPO, period due on Thursday though I think I ovulated this month due to illness so pretty sure I’m out this month but I’m so impatient I almost wish AF would arrive early to put me out my misery, knowing my luck it will choose to be late this month and give me false hope though 🤦‍♀️ the TWW is no good for people with no patience 😂

I have carried on testing with OPKs, mainly out of interest given I ovulated so late!

Solyaire · 09/01/2024 07:44

Hope everybody is doing well, and the ones busy these days get very positive news in a couple of weeks.

Any advise navigating the TWW? Getting annoyed with myself and my brain is still not in TTC mode.

We are visiting family/friends and I ended up in a pharmacy, considering buying Clearblue, because today is DPO10. I decided against wasting money on an obvious negative but ordered a pack deal as part of the preps for next cycle. At home I have the cheapie ones that come with the OPKs and I will test (will be DPO12-13), so I would like to avoid next months testing too early just because I have access to them.

I guess it’s just a matter of self control, really 🙂

Timeforacutie · 06/01/2024 15:42

@Sarah452 As someone whose from Hong Kong, it doesn’t sound “whacky”
to me. I’m glad TCM has helped you regulate your periods ☺️

my periods were all over the place too but prenatal supplements and vitamins have regulated them in a month the same way TCM did for you. It’s a relief!

CD15 and peak ovulation on the clear blue digital strips for me today so we’re busy DTD this week and I’m already thinking about the two week wait..

Sarah452 · 06/01/2024 06:10

@Pcosdegallo appreocate it may sound really whacky (and I’m usually quite science led black and white so really out of character for me!) but a friend talked me in to seeing a traditional Chinese herbal medicine doctor (I saw someone with a PhD rather than backstreet), as my periods were all over the place and I wasn’t really getting many after I came off the pill (I’d been on the pill for years which was probably masking my Pcos) conventional meds weren’t working and I didn’t want to put my hormones in me to regulate. Within a month of seeing the TCM and taking the herbs I got my period and they’ve been on time to the day ever since (besides pregnancy) Fully aware it could have been a placebo effect but just thought I’d share!

Pcosdegallo · 06/01/2024 03:48

Sarah452 · 05/01/2024 14:02

@Pcosdegallo hey we’ve just started TTC baby #2. DD was a complete surprise so we weren’t actively TTC, I’ve got PCOS too and suspect baby #2 could take a while, if we are lucky enough to have one. I started using OPKs this month and honestly wish I hadn’t as I’ve become almost obsessive! Are you tracking at all?

@Sarah452 how exciting! Hope it is quick for you again! I haven't been tracking yet- my time of month is all over the place, so maybe I should do it Hmm Focus will probs be on supplements/fitness as that seemed to regulate me more. Might start tracking in the summer if we're having no joy.

MrsRandallFraser · 05/01/2024 23:02

@tryingforbaba obviously it’s a smaller chance than if you dtd right on ovu or the day after but there’s still a chance for sure! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

tryingforbaba · 05/01/2024 22:37

We DTD just (3 days before ovu) and also did it 5 days before ovu.

Hubby now goes away for work so than was our only chance.

Reckon we stand a chance???

Timeforacutie · 05/01/2024 17:41

CD14 on cycle 2 of TTC for me now . This cycle we’re trying the SMEP plan.

Theres so many acronyms with TTC 🤣

Based on previous cycles and my clue app, I think I’m due to ovulate on Sunday. This time I’m going to try to not do any testing until the day my period is supposed to be due… let’s see if I manage it.

I ordered the Hertility fertility testing kit and I didn’t realise you need to wait until your 3rd day of your period to test.. wish I had known beforehand. It was quite pricey at £159. Has anyone tried it?

Timeforacutie · 05/01/2024 17:37

@skyerojo sorry to hear that. Hopefully you’re able to take the pressure off yourself!
