Any other lurkers out there patiently (or impatiently!) waiting to TTC in the new year?

Anything in particular you're doing to prepare?

@LeCreusetLove ohhhh my that's amazing news!! Congratulations! How are you feeling so far? Did you guess before you even tested? V happy for you.

@MrsRandallFraser how are you getting on? AF just started for me, blegh, cycle continues to change slightly every time without fail so all that's fun & games to look forward to!

Thanks for checking in @skyerojo! I hope everyone is doing well.

DH and I had a "slip up" (not that it really mattered!) in March, the month before we had planned to start trying, and here I am, 6+6 pregnant! 😄We are both delighted.

Baby dust to all of you, hoping for a lucky thread and lots more BFPs to come! 😍

StampOnTheGround · 20/04/2024 22:32

@MrsRandallFraser @WonderingAboutBabies @skyerojo
Thanks all!

I won't be doing any ovulation testing or anything like that unless nothing has happened after 6 months. I'd prefer to go with the flow and just have fun haha!

MrsRandallFraser · 20/04/2024 22:06

@skyerojo I read so much on here about testing with your second wee of the day and not drinking anything for 4 hours beforehand... impossible! I also tried testing at work but I can't hang around in the loo for 5 minutes waiting for it.

The only way I've found that works for me is to have a wee first thing after I wake up and test with my next one about an hour later just before I leave for work. I have had a few dark lines that way so it's picking up something, it's just rare that my apps read it as a 'peak'. Then we just dtd as soon as I get home from work.

After my optimism of my last post and the OPK and my temperature lining up, natural cycles was predicting AF arrival three days ago after saying I ovulated on the 5th. No sign of AF and a BFN two days ago and now it's changed AF date to next week! I didn't input the BFN so I'm not sure why it's done that. I've been so crampy this week as well, no idea what's going on.

butterflywingss · 20/04/2024 21:27

I was diagnosed with PCOS from a teen and always had struggles with irregular periods. HOWEVER, I now swear by clear blue ovulation tests, this will be my 5th pregnancy but only 2 live births and another baby on the way and 3 times I have used it and dtd on smiley face day I have got pregnant straight away. Hope that's helpful. I was also taking Maca powder before hand. X

skyerojo · 20/04/2024 21:22

Woohoo @StampOnTheGround it's showtime!

Sending love @MrsRandallFraser @WonderingAboutBabies and fingers crossed for the tww/next cycle 🤞

I'm still impatiently waiting to start but still hoping next month. I did order some ovulation strips though just to try and sure enough I got a peak around the time I already thought might be my ovulation dates. Seriously though how do you guys do it around work?! I ended up with long gaps between tests so don't think I got an ideal picture.

@LeCreusetLove early days but how have you been getting on?

OP posts:
MrsRandallFraser · 18/04/2024 10:55

Argh @skyerojo I didn't realise I hadn't replied to you! Yes my cycles are so unpredictable - but I only came off the pill in October so to be expected I guess, I'm hoping they start to regulate a bit soon.

Good luck @StampOnTheGround I hope it doesn't take too long for you. I've found that since I stopped regularly OPK testing, I've chilled out a bit. I do BBT every morning and use Natural Cycles and they give you your red days for fertile periods and then suggest when to OPK test but it's not as frequent. In fact the first day they suggested I test this cycle, I got a peak so I only did one more and BBT suggested I'd ovulated then as well so that was nice. Now just impatiently in the TWW!

I don't know if it helps anyone else but I've had quite a few BFNs now, and I've found that telling myself that I have a good and fulfilled life now helps. Children would be an absolute blessing but I'm telling myself to enjoy what I can about being child-free now and it does seem to help a little with the disappointment. I hope that's not too blase and insensitive, but I just thought it might help if you were getting a bit down every month.

WonderingAboutBabies · 18/04/2024 09:27

Hi @StampOnTheGround how exciting!!

I'm on cycle 3 now, literally just peaking today so I'll be ovulating tomorrow. Had a little meltdown last night as I find it all really stressful😢It is much harder on my stress levels/emotions than I thought it'd be. I really thought I'd breeze through each month and just let it happen. Instead I'm crying at every negative test and pregnancy announcement argh!

We're on holiday next month so if this month isn't it, I'll stop testing for a month and try to RELAX!

StampOnTheGround · 17/04/2024 19:47

Hope you're all doing well?

I will be CD1 in 5 days and it'll be our first cycle trying - getting excited but know it could take ages!

skyerojo · 28/03/2024 12:31

@StampOnTheGround exciting!!

Congratulations @Solyaire

@skyerojo we are also going to now start in May/June time! 😊

skyerojo · 27/03/2024 21:20

Hello again friends!

@Solyaire woweeee that's incredible news, huge congratulations! So happy for you, and hopefully this makes it a lucky thread for the rest of us too 🤞 lovely to already have that reassurance, was that a private scan you went for or first NHS appt?

@LeCreusetLove that's fair, gives your body more time to settle first too! Do you have a plan? Or just going to see how the month goes? Sending luck, keep us updated.

@MrsRandallFraser such a pain, do you find your cycles are generally unpredictable? I'm quite gutted as mine are getting more unsettled and longer too even though it's nearly a year now since I stopped the pill. Mine's just arrived this evening though on day 34 so could be worse I guess!

As for me, we decided to delay a bit so likely starting May/June time now. In all honesty, OH got cold feet right at the last minute! Which was hard at the time, but I really want him to be as excited as I am, and actually it's probably enabled us to do a few amazing things this half of the year that might not have been possible. So hoping it's one of those 'everything happens for a reason' things. Bring on June 🙏

Congratulations @Solyaire ! That's amazing news :) so pleased for you!

No news over here - I had quite a long cycle in February so I'd got my hopes up and was about to test and AF arrived...of course! And then this cycle has been really short. It's really throwing me off as I never get peaks on OPKs so I can never predict when I've ovulated. I got an offer to go sign back up to Natural Cycles as I always found that accurately predicted when AF was going to arrive.

So we go again next month...I think it'll be cycle #5 for us.

Solyaire · 27/03/2024 06:01

Hi all! I wrote on 14th February and ended up having a positive test on the 25th Feb (I remember it was a Sunday because I didn’t want to test on Monday). That was DPO13.

We were a little in shock as it was the first try, and I really think it was the hysteroscopy that might have helped.

I look at it now and it’s so faint 😄. I didn’t want to test everyday and get into that (for me) unhealthy path but once I got an appointment I did test a couple of more times.

We went last week (6+6) and were able to see something and hear the heartbeat 🙂

Looking forward to read some updates

How is it going for you @skyerojo?

Anyone TTC from Jan 2024?
LeCreusetLove · 26/03/2024 21:45

Hi @skyerojo! Hope it’s okay to jump back in! We decided to wait as the Zika risk didn’t feel worth it, and couldn’t find information on how accurate the test for it was. So next month is our first one trying eek! Been using Natural Cycles since October so think I’ve got the hang of BBT.

How’s everything your end? ❤️

skyerojo · 26/03/2024 21:12

Hey guys, how's it going? Any success stories here yet? 🤞

Solyaire · 14/02/2024 20:04

@MrsRandallFraser, thanks for checking! My cycles are so short that I am in DPO territory already. Not sure if DPO1 or DPO3. So much time trying to get comfortable with OPKs and when the time came, didn’t know how to work with them. Looking at the apps, we were either early or late.

@Timeforacutie, glad you are happy with BBT, the more info, the better.

@WonderingAboutBabies So frustrating!!! All apps, with the same data, give you completely different information. Even reading OPKs, within seconds, same light = different values…

Timeforacutie · 14/02/2024 16:15

Hi :)

Hope everyone is doing ok.

3rd cycle in now, I thought my vitamins had regulated my irregular cycle to 32/33 days but last month I had a 39 day cycle. I had been using OPKs and the clue app but after that, I did research and think even thought the OPK said I had high/peak fertility I either didn’t ovulate or ovulated later … thus now for this cycle I started taking my BBT every morning, which is a bit of a pain, but gives you so much more data. I downloaded the fertility friend app, it came quite recommended and the ability to look at other people’s charts is interesting.

this month I’m also going to keep taking OPKs until AF comes in case I get a second peak/high rating (learning from last month)

my research online has shown it is quite common to have one cycle a year where you don’t ovulate (annovulation) and from my cycle history I know I’m pretty irregular.

I also did the hertility test but I think it gave me more questions than answers so I don’t know if I’d recommend it.

Fingers, toes and everything crossed for everyone this month!

MrsRandallFraser · 14/02/2024 15:30

@WonderingAboutBabies that's so frustrating.

Honestly I think going with the flow is the best plan but obviously much easier said than done!

WonderingAboutBabies · 14/02/2024 14:58

I'm completely lost on this whole TTC malarkey!! I downloaded Premom and Flo, and put in a year's worth of AF data.
Premom said I'd ovulate around CD10 (v early???), and Flo said CD14 (seems more likely). Managed to DTD every 2/3 days even with DH's flu.

Based on Premom- I'd be well past the 2WW now and I did test even though I had no symptoms other than AF symptoms. BFN obviously.

Deleted both apps as they just confused me so much and Flo kept sending notifications like 'if you're 4 days pregnant you might feel more tired... etc' and it made me overthink everything!

Just going to go with the flow from now on. AF due this weekend/early next week - that I do know for sure 😆Might get some OPKs to see if I am ovulating and when...

Sounds promising @MrsRandallFraser fingers crossed!!

MrsRandallFraser · 14/02/2024 12:27

@WonderingAboutBabies your TWW must nearly be over going by your last post? Any symptoms?

@Bluebella27 did you test again?

@Solyaire you must be close to ovulation as well?

MrsRandallFraser · 14/02/2024 12:25

How's everyone getting on? My apps are saying ovulation was either Monday or yesterday. Gave up on OPKs as they never seemed to give me a peak. We managed to DTD last Thursday, this Monday and yesterday, and will again tonight, but then I'm away for a few days. Had EWCM yesterday so really really hope we've got the timings right. Will probably still DTD every other day from when I'm back on Sunday until AF comes (or hopefully not!) just to cover all bases

WonderingAboutBabies · 03/02/2024 20:26

@Bluebella27 oh no! Maybe wait a few more days and test again?? Fingers crossed for you!

WonderingAboutBabies · 03/02/2024 20:26

@Solyaire aw thats great, that you don't have to worry about that!

Now I'm feeling a bit unwell but we somehow managed to DTD so we may not be out just yet... however I picked up a few ovulation sticks just to see if I'm definitely ovulating this weekend and the line was so so faint...! I was really surprised so I guess I haven't ovulated yet? Or can you get faint lines after ovulation?

Bluebella27 · 02/02/2024 20:08

I don't know why I did this but I know this is a safe place to vent!
I'm only 6/7 DPO (didn't use clear blue opks this month only Flo app) been feeling rough last couple of days. Just took an early test and there was the faintest line 🤦🏻‍♀️
I know this is stupidly early, I'm trying for my 3rd pregnancy and have only ever got a faint positive around 10dpo.. took another early test about half hour later and stark negative.
So many emotions in the space of an hour, I'm such an idiot in not waiting until next week 🙈
