Hi 🙋‍♀️, just as the title says, I am now on cd1 of my first cycle after a loss at 11+4 (stopped growing just after a scan showing strong heartbeat at 8 -9w)

Feeling nervous but positive about a new cycle ...but finding it hard to think of anything else other than ttc 🙂

Happy for some company to obsess with over these next weeks x

Can I also ask, has anyone heard, been prescribed or thinking of taking asprin if you get (or already have) a BFP?

I keep reading about people taking asprin to prevent miscarriage x

Sorry I haven't been on in a few days, the day I got my period, a family member told me they got a + test and I felt like my stomach hit the floor (and a million other feelings) i am happy for her because I am very fond of her but it still hurts alot too. It has passed now and feeling much better. This whole process from start to finish is such an emotional rolercoaster once you have experienced a loss isn't it. (Remembers fondly back to the bliss of the simple ttc before any loss 😄) x

@Liz2681 I am really so sorry to read your news, sending love ❤️ xx

@Oxalis00 Sorry to hear your af arrived as well. My periods have been lighter at times too, I think things definitely do change after but I don't understand why. That would be great if you got some tests etc to find out why. x

Sorry if I have missed out on any other news, I hope everyone else is OK? x

@Liz2681 I've heard great things about Tommys. they are a wonderful charity and they are so good at what they do. I hope they can support you.

Just had my first fertility appointment - took bloods and did a pelvic scan. she said I definitely ovulated this month so that's good! Got to wait a week for the results and the appointment with the consultant.

The bad news is my BMI has crept up to 36! Eeeek. That's all the comfort eating showing up. They won't want to do any treatment (if needed) like IVF if it's not 35 or below. Definitely need to cut back on the biscuits and eating my feelings.

Liz2681 · 16/11/2023 10:24

Thanks everyone for your lovely messages ❤️

Had the scan at the EPU yesterday, which showed no pregnancy so they're pretty sure I had a complete miscarriage. They took bloods to doubly confirm (and will get those results today) but they'll just confirm what was in the scan.

Obviously devastated, but also feeling a bit hopeful - one of the Tommy's Miscarriage Research Centres is based at my local EPU and take referrals after two miscarriages, so I'll be pursuing that and will hopefully have some luck soon! xx

SunSparkle · 16/11/2023 08:29

@Liz2681 im so sorry. Take the time you need. It can all get a bit much.

@wyto that’s amazing everything is progressing. Totally normal to feel nervous and want an early scan but tk also not want one. I think about it a lot with my missed miscarriage whether I should have had one.

im feeling better - we tried again but my partner just felt under pressure so didn’t finish. I hate it makes him feel stressed to.

I’ve got my fertility appointment today - blood tests and pelvic ultrasound and sperm analysis. We will get the results next week. I think I will be asking about progesterone to increase my luteal phase which is so short and potentially letrozole to help with ovulation.

anyone’s BBT and LH tests contradict themselves? My BBT says I ovulated on CD12 and I didn’t get a positive ovulation test until CD 15so would have ovulated until CD16/17.

Makes a big difference to how long my luteal phase is as I only have 24 day cycles on average.

@Liz2681 I’m so sorry to hear this news, it’s really not fair. Sending lots of hugs your way x

CluelessInLondon · 15/11/2023 11:55

@Liz2681 I'm sorry to read your news - multiple losses are just so unfair. Take care of yourself and take some time to process, it's a good plan to not worry about tracking things for a bit. ❤

Aaliyahrae · 15/11/2023 11:37

@Liz2681 im so so sorry. Thinking of you xx

Vic231 · 15/11/2023 11:32

@Liz2681 oh I am so sorry to hear this. It is so so rubbish, I can't believe what a cruel journey this TTC can be. Sending you a big hug xx

Gem0302 · 15/11/2023 11:25

@Oxalis00 thats interesting to know. Do you feel reassured at all by your appointment? I’ve never had painful periods in my life until a couple of months ago. Even the first one after my MC was back to normal so not sure what is going on. My blood test was done on day 7 and just checking hormone levels, thyroid etc. Don’t apologise, I’m also on loads of forums/threads. Sorry to hear about your local hospital not accepting referrals.

Oxalis00 · 15/11/2023 11:20

Oh and @Gem0302 I’m pretty sure my reaction to the flu vaccine last month set ovulation back a couple of days. (Have I said this to you on another thread already?!) It makes sense to me that if the body is busy making antibodies - either to a vaccine or an illness - it might delay ovulation. Keep testing, I’m sure it’ll come. And hope that cold passes soon.

Oxalis00 · 15/11/2023 11:12

Thanks for your message @Gem0302 - it’s always helpful to know you’re not alone in any given experience, though I’m sorry this is a worry for you too. I saw the GP this morning who thought that the lighter periods may be because D&C clears out any extra thickness, like treatment for endometriosis, but isn’t necessarily a cause for concern. I’m not having any pain (or any sensation at all…) with my bleeds, though. Were yours painful before? What blood tests are you getting? Sorry if I’ve asked all this before! I’m on so many threads desperately seeking information I’m losing track 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m getting a test for thyroid and day 21 progesterone. The local hospital unfortunately isn’t accepting referrals under the new RCOG guidelines of 2 MC for women over 35 though 😡

CluelessInLondon · 15/11/2023 10:22

@wyto That's a pity - it's so variable in terms of what different EPUs will offer. My hospital has an emergency gynae unit and they told me when I had my MC that if I got pregnant again I should just call them and they would scan me at 6 and 9 weeks, which will be amazing if they actually follow through on it if/when it happens again for me.

wyto · 15/11/2023 10:14

@CluelessInLondon

I had to fight for a scan at my EPU last time and I'd had a massive bleed and been to a&e etc so I doubt I'll be offered anything unless some issues arise

CluelessInLondon · 15/11/2023 10:06

@Oxalis00 I think the general advice is that it can take up to 3 months for your cycle to return to normal after miscarriage, but as you say it's been a bit longer than that I would definitely see about speaking to the GP.

@wyto Good to hear that everything seems to be progressing okay for you and you've had your booking appointment. Are you not able to get any early scans through your EPU?

@SunSparkle How are you feeling now? Hope your cold is getting better and you managed to get some extra BDing in!

I am officially now 1DPO, wondering how long it will be before the time starts to drag. I reckon I'll get fed up by the weekend. 😅

Liz2681 · 15/11/2023 09:49

Hi everyone,

Good to see everyone's updates and how everyone's been getting on.

Some of you may remember I got my BFP a few days ago; unfortunately, I started bleeding heavily a couple of days ago so am certain this was another chemical. I have a scan with the EPU today to confirm, but can't say it's looking great. If so, today would be CD3. I think I might step away from the OPK testing for a bit to regroup once I've had a chance to process this latest loss.

Wish everyone the best with their TTC journey, and everyone with BFPs happy and healthy pregnancies xx

Gem0302 · 15/11/2023 09:19

@Oxalis00 I’m in a similar position to you. My AF would always last 5 days, have 2 days of being heavy and no spotting either side. Then all of a sudden they’ve reduced to 3 days, are a lot lighter and at times I get spotting. I didn’t worry too much until they started to become painful which I’d never experienced before. I went to see my GP and now waiting on a scan and blood test results. If you’re worried about any changes I would make an appointment as it might help reassure you, but I imagine your body is still recovering from D&C.

Has anyone experienced delayed or no ovulation due to a cold/illness? I normally have a flashing smiley by now but still showing as low. Not sure if it’s because of my cold or just another irregularity in my cycle.

wyto · 15/11/2023 06:31

Hi everyone!

Hopefully some of you remember me from the early days of this thread, kind of dropped off commenting when I got my BFP after a MMC in July, but I've been lurking and keeping up to date, lovely to see so many more positives! And its also nice to know I'm not alone in the anxiety they bring.

I'm over 8 weeks now with no bleeding (although I go to bed every night thinking I will have a bleed 😔) I don't suppose this will ever go away.

I had my booking in appointment yesterday which was actually very underwhelming but felt like a milestone all the same.

I'm considering a private scan but I seem to be burying my head in the sand a bit which is nothing like my personality in every day life 😅

Oxalis00 · 14/11/2023 19:38

Definitely AF here, but it’s so weirdly light again - about 3ml in my mooncup all day. (Sorry TMI!) I don’t know if it’s after my MC surgery or after taking the mini-pill or even after having my DD but something has changed. I used to fill a mooncup to overflowing in half a day at least one of the days, and it would last a proper 5 days. Now spotting a couple of days before and then barely any ‘flow’, and none of the symptoms I used to get. I know it seems mad to be complaining about an easy period! But it’s only been 4 months since D&C, do I wait a bit longer or see doc? I’m 38…

ThelastRolo20 · 14/11/2023 18:03

@CluelessInLondon I will track yes, but feeling relaxed about it all :)

ThelastRolo20 · 14/11/2023 18:02

@Gem0302 bad luck about the cold - I've just gotten over one.. hope yours doesn't last too long x

CluelessInLondon · 14/11/2023 17:33

@ThelastRolo20 That's good news that you're spot on 4 weeks for your period - I remember getting desperately impatient when I got to 4 weeks post-MC and mine hadn't come back yet! Glad you are feeling positive for your first cycle - will you be tracking ovulation etc. or just taking it easy this time and not worrying about it too much?

@Gem0302 I hope you are feeling better soon - there seem to be colds flying around all over the place at the moment.

Gem0302 · 14/11/2023 17:22

@ThelastRolo20 That’s positive about your cycle seeming to be regular. Good luck with this cycle.

Im CD11 and full of a cold 😞

ThelastRolo20 · 14/11/2023 16:33

So my period arrived today so officially cycle day 1. Exactly four weeks post MC which I'm happy about - hoping this means my cycles aren't going to be too badly messed up. Looking forward to giving this cycle a go and hoping for some good news at Christmas! X

ThelastRolo20 · 14/11/2023 10:40

@CluelessInLondon it's good you have a wedding to take your mind off of it! It's so hard waiting until AF day to test isn't it. Not 100% sure when I ovulated but I think 7/8 days ago - tempted to try a test this Friday so I know whether I can have a glass of wine over the weekend. Equally it might be easier to handle the disappointment if I wait for AF/ at least it'll be the start of a new cycle
