Hey everyone! Just wanted to start this thread for anyone just starting on the TTC journey. Last month was our first month properly trying but sadly AF is here at the min!

I’ve been reading some of the threads on here as I’m the first in my group of friends (that I know of!) that are starting this journey and thought it would be nice to talk to people in the same boat 😊

Thanks - will do
My friends doing ivf & has consultants & she has it in something she takes

Nina7 · 15/09/2023 08:00

Yes, ask to see what's their opinion.

I hadn't heard of it either from a doctor before that consultant told me at the fertility clinic. We were doing some first investigations before considering IVF.

Im currently taking 100 mg

I have gynae next week -, i will ask a few things

I have conceive plus fertility lubricant
But the cycle we concieved - we hadnt used it..

The cycle b4 we used it but didnt concieve

Ive started coq10 now.
Improves egg quality in over 35s.
Many American fertility drs recommend it

TTCnewbies · 14/09/2023 17:24

Oops. I didn't know this. I'll start taking them immediately.

Some people do ok with just them just b4 pregnancy & the first 12 weeks
But its best / advised to have them for 2/3 months before

My mums mate had a child with spina bifida that she miscarried years n years ago

And having just had an early miscarriage myself - they are tough & apart from Tommys baby charity - & the miscarriage association - theres not a lot of support for people

Chemical pregnancies are v common in peoples first ever pregnancy - it should be talked about more

Equallly - if you told gp you were guna try and concieve - theyd happily blood test feretin - vit D and b12

worldwidetravel2017 · 14/09/2023 16:56

Ideally its best to have 2 -,3 months of FA in your system before you try

Oops. I didn't know this. I'll start taking them immediately.

@worldwidetravel2017 what is feretin ?

worldwidetravel2017 · 14/09/2023 16:58

A consultant told me in August that 40 percent of females walk round with a feretin deficiency without knowing

I recommend getting vit d and feretin checked

Also in uk with winter coming - its recommended that most of uk population take a vit D supplement oct to march anyway

Theres a very good book called it starts with an egg - vit D is so so important in conception and pregnancy

@HunnnyBunnny i know how you feel! I thought I wouldn’t be like this so soon after starting trying but here we are 😂

always here for a chat as we all go on this journey together!

I feel so invested too. Sending positive vibes to everyone!

TTCnewbies · 14/09/2023 16:51

Thanks @Nina7 that is super informative. I've picked up some cheap ones from the supermarket. They have 400ug of folic acid. So hopefully all okay!

Tigger1116 · 14/09/2023 16:43

@worldwidetravel2017 yes I still ovulate I track ovulation with the clear blue and get static smile ect so I’m guessing I ovulate AF came at dead on 40 days this month which is good but didn’t want AF lol so I track and take vitamins

Nina7 · 14/09/2023 16:35

We've been TTC for about a year... But maybe we've managed this cycle 🤞

@TTCnewbies and @Katie276 folic acid is a must, it minimises the chances of the baby developing some neurological disorders, really important even in the first few days after implantation, so take it all the time, or at least daily after ovulation and until the period comes.

Then other vitamins etc help with conceiving but theoretically you don't need them if you haven't got a deficiency.
I started taking pregnacare conception and then conceive plus some months in, just because it made me feel I'm doing something to help the situation!!

This was our first cycle of TTC. LH surge on 1st Sept, but AF arrived this afternoon. So disappointed, I wanted a May baby. I know, so naïve. Bring on cycle no. 2 💪

Good luck 4 your next cycle

Tigger1116 · 14/09/2023 15:26

I’ve been taking folic acid tablets and vit d tablets I’m looking into vitamin from conceive plus (ovulation) for PCOS I’ve also got the pipet gel to insert to help so hopefully that will all help I did get upset and have a cry I’m 36 so this is my goal at the moment now I’m just focusing on the vitamin side more and hopefully have a better chance

Have you checked to see if you ovulate with pcos anyway ?
I have suspected pcos but still ovulate without additional help 4 that

@TTCnewbies ah similar to us then haha! Yeah it’s nice there’s a few of us in the same boat 😊

Cant believe I’m at the stage where we’re planning for a family! I still feel 16 😂

@Katie276 nothing to prepare at all. Tbh we've kind of just thought 'why not' for this month. It wasn't really planned to try this month (we were going to try next year) but just thought we'd give it a go earlier than planned. Need to look in to those folic acid stuff and anything else?!

Glad a few of us are similar cycles. It will help with waiting together!

Katie276 · 14/09/2023 13:01

Thanks for sharing @worldwidetravel2017 and of course wasn’t your fault ❤️

I’m definitely going to get a folic acid/Vit D supplement when I’m next out as well
