Wow! Good luck with everything @DoloresOnTheDottedLine

fingers crossed for you ❤️

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 14/09/2023 13:44

Crossing fingers for you @hicketypickety

AF came on Sunday (so only a couple of days ahead of you @TTCnewbies !) and I’m on day 4 of taking Clomid (final day tomorrow). I’ll have up to three ultrasounds next week to check for ovulation and ensure that there aren’t multiple eggs being stimulated. Then it’s a trigger shot to actually stimulate ovulation to occur, followed by DTD, followed by some progesterone pessaries (I get to choose if they’re inserted vaginally or anally - lucky me 😜). So not a lot of mystery in it for us - if we do conceive, we’ll know the exact minute it occurred!!

Hope everyone is having a good week - I’m finding myself very distract-able and consumed by thoughts of TTC!

beaniesunrise · 14/09/2023 12:52

@hicketypickety ahhh don’t say that, fingers crossed for you. You never know it could be your month!
@TTCnewbies no I didn’t do any last time. I’ve been tracking in the app since 2015, so it seems to be accurate. I did think that if it doesn’t happen 1st month then I’ll look at using the ovulation tests from next month! It’ll be good to compare against the app and also see when I actually ovulate
@Katie276 fingers crossed we all get BFPs in the coming months ☺️

Thanks @beaniesunrise 😊
it’s nice chatting to you all! Not going to lie I was thinking a June baby would be nice haha but obviously what will be will be. Hopefully we’ll be able to start trying again next week onwards! I’m just using Clue at the min so have no idea how accurate it is in terms of ovulation etc

beaniesunrise · 14/09/2023 12:25

How we all doing? Welcome @Katie276 😊
I’m due AF on Monday so still in the waiting game and doing research aha. My app says expected ovulation is 27th - 2nd Oct ! Around 28 days average cycle for me. First month trying for us too!
Last time we conceived on the 2nd month of ttc so I’m hoping the app will be accurate this time too and it won’t take too long 😁
So does anyone else have a preferred month they want the baby due or am I just the crazy one? Ahaha I’m hoping to have a summer baby since DC1 is autumn and we have wayyy too many relatives having birthdays in Autumn/Winter so would be a nice change.. but of course as they say what’s willed will happen..

Did you do any ovulation tests before? I'm wondering how accurate my app may be without doing the ovulation tests!

hicketypickety · 14/09/2023 12:34

Currently in Septembers TWW but feeling suspiciously ok so think I'm out this month. Af due next Wednesday so for October I think ovulation will be due second week (32-35 day cycle). I just feel so useless 🫣

Hello, my first time posting on here but I’ve been reading over the last few weeks as we’ve started TTC properly for the first time from last month. Currently period is here but hoping to try again this month. Trying to not look into things or overanalyse too much at this stage! 😂

TTCnewbies · 14/09/2023 07:21

Hope we are all okay? Anyone close to ovulation time yet? AF properly started with me on Tuesday, I've never done an ovulation test or anything but glow predicts ovulation in 2 weeks. My cycles seems to be about 30 days. I'm away next week with work and it predicts the ovulation window (it guesstimates a week, guessing to cover it all?!) starts the day after I get back so I think we will just try to dtd most days through that week. This is my first try so I'm absolutely not expecting anything to happen yet but I suppose good to give it a go. Will also try to see if I notice any ovulation signs too.
Anyone on a similar timescale to me? Ovulation week somewhere around 23rd - 29th.

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 12/09/2023 07:19

@hicketypickety My DD is 5.5 years and I’m struggling with the same feeling - that I’m a bit late to the game. I’m 38 so also feeling extra old and past it!! But nothing we can do now - just need to embrace the potential big gap and pretend it was all part of the plan…

Sorry to hear you’ve have a tough year and hopefully it will be smooth sailing from this point.

hicketypickety · 12/09/2023 06:55

Can I join please! Im 34 and TTC no 2 after a MMC this time last year and a molar pregnancy in April. When we first started trying for no 2 a year ago I wasn't stressed at all but everything that's happened in the last year has changed that. DS is 6 and wishing I hadn't waited so long to go for a second. DS is also starting to ask about a brother or sister (been a bit of a sibling explosion in his class in the last year).

beaniesunrise · 12/09/2023 06:48

I remember when TTC our first, we started DTD day after my AF finished every other day and then everyday around OV time (1D before, during and after).

Last time I didn’t start taking folic acid until after I found out since it was all new and we just started trying, however this time I started taking folic acid 2 months ago.

Both pregnacare vitamins from Holland and Barrett

OP posts:
Feelinghappy19 · 12/09/2023 06:23

@TTCnewbies My friend recommended the ones just from Holland and barratt, I think you should take them about 12 weeks before you conceive and 12 weeks after, sure someone in here will correct me if that’s wrong!

TTCnewbies · 11/09/2023 22:43

Thanks both. This is really helpful!
Initially, at least this month, we won't be using ovulation sticks or anything. I've been tracking very basic on glow for a few months which predicts when my ovulation is, so I think maybe we will try to cover every other day for that rough week, possibly more often if we can!
It's such a minefield. I did not think I'd become this obsessed researching.

The next thing I need to figure out is when to take the folic acid stuff and what ones. Asda had their own cheap brand for a couple of quid. Not sure whether I should get pregnacare ones. Will look it up.

Good luck all!

FigandHoney · 11/09/2023 20:28

@TTCnewbies It has been a while since the last time we did this. But I think a lot of advice out there is two BD every second day during your fertile phase.
The egg last up to 24hours. And sperm can survive up to 5 days inside you. So with the day before and after you are kind of covered.
I don't think there is a huge reason not to do it every day. Just it can take some time. Us ut took 15 months. So that's a lot of doing it for a long period of time.
I think some people also say that there is less actually sperm if you do it every day. But I am not sure that's true

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 11/09/2023 19:53

Interesting question @TTCnewbies - I think it’s a good idea to DTD the day before ovulation because then there can be sperm already hanging around in your uterus, ready to meet the egg. No idea why anyone would skip the actual day OF ovulation though - feels like that’s the best day to do it! There may be some kind of mad science to it that I don’t understand however 🤔.

TTCnewbies · 11/09/2023 17:28

Good luck everyone!

I have a question, this will be my first so I'm not overly sure. But I've been reading loads of threads and notice lots of people DTD the day before and day after peak ovulation but not the day of, anyone know why? Is it better to just DTD as much as possible through ovulation week? I'm not sure we will manage every day as we both work long hours but will try to as much as possible. My prediction is ovulation over a weekend in Sept so hopefully will be able to a bit more.

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 11/09/2023 14:29

I’d love to join the thread if that’s okay. We are TTC number two. Conceived our first in 2017 with Clomid and have been prescribed it again. Hoping we are similarly lucky this time. For anyone interested but not familiar, Clomid is used to stimulate ovulation if you don’t ovulate or are irregular.

Last time we went via the NHS and they more or less bunged the pills at me and said to have fun. We’re private this time and there is so much more to it - three scans in every cycle, plus injections and other drugs. All a bit overwhelming and I’ve found myself checking out of work a bit and spending too much time googling stats….

Good luck to everyone and fingers crossed for some positive test results in the next few months!

Feelinghappy19 · 11/09/2023 07:30

@beaniesunrise thank you! Good luck to you! I think I’m out this month as my app changed my o day but it’s fine! We are both off work during my fertile week this month as it’s my birthday so keeping everything crossed for a bfp!

beaniesunrise · 10/09/2023 20:52

Welcome to all joining the thread! Let’s hope this month/next month is ours with BFPs ☺️ going to be great going through the journey together
@TTCnewbies Hi 👋 I second the don’t stress yourself! It would be cool to see if our cycles line up - AF isn’t due until the 18th for me however.. so won’t start TTC until 1st Oct!
@Anotheranxiousone Welcome! Sorry to hear and best of luck for next Friday, keep us updated - hope this is your month. We have the same cycle lengths :)
@FigandHoney you're not alone, I’ve also experienced since having DC1, I don’t know if it’s the sleep deprivation or traumatic birth or daily stress of having a toddler to chase all day!
@Feelinghappy19 & @daisybubble Welcome!😁

Oh wow! That's great - it will be nice to have someone on similar days. Let me know what you decide to do. I completely understand your dilemma. You could always just see what happens?! Up to you. I guess a month longer won't matter. I'm not expecting us to be successful straight away anyway so I think we might just go for it.

daisybubble · 10/09/2023 16:29

TTCnewbies · 10/09/2023 15:37

I wonder if any of our cycles will line up. AF is due any day (spotting atm) and we may try this month or maybe wait til next month.

Goodness! We are exactly the same! I’m waiting for AF.

Can’t work out whether to try this month or next. We get married in about 4 weeks and I want to be able to have a couple of drinks at the wedding. My period is due a couple days after we get married. I don’t know whether we try now, or wait. I suppose some people don’t know they’re pregnant until after that point anyway but want to make sure the baby can be as healthy as possible - though we might not be successful straightaway. X

Hey everyone, wishing you all good luck.
We’re TTC from October too. Can’t wait!

Feelinghappy19 · 10/09/2023 12:08

hi :) just joining this thread in my first month of properly trying. I’m trying so hard not to put pressure on us but it’s so easy to get carried away! Wishing everyone luck!
