I think I’m having my LH surge starting! Now to try and rally DH 😳🫣🤪

TTCnewbies · 24/09/2023 22:00

Out of interest, how many here do tests every month? And how many wait until a missed period?
I am not sure if I can handle the heartbreak of seeing negative tests and might just wait for AF. I'm generally pretty regular so I guess I'd wait til 2 days late then test.

Mum032019 · 24/09/2023 21:39

Hey. Hope I’m ok to join the thread a bit late in the day. Currently TTC for a second baby. We’ve been trying around 18 months and we have a 4.5 year old. I have had various tests which showed normalish levels of everything. I’m 34, husband 39. Currently on day 35 of my cycle. Normally around a 31 day cycle but I’ve had a few 35/36s especially recently. Feeling quite disheartened as every month is just more negative tests. Good luck to everybody on here!

Tigger1116 · 24/09/2023 19:54

@TTCnewbies thank you good luck to you too and your friend. The only thing I’m finding a bit stressful is timing the window with my donor but he is pretty good with the timing just don’t have the having a partner and being dtd all the time lol

Newchapter23 · 24/09/2023 19:44

Hi all! Thought I would jump on this thread after reading so many. I’m TTC #1 I’m 33 and recently come off the pill. I have had my break bleed then my normal period came 35 days was my first cycle off the pill which I’m happy about as I was worried it would take a while to come back after being on the pill for 15 years. DTD 3 days before ovulation we have agreed not to put pressure on just yet and have sex when we want/feel like too and see how we go. I am only tracking via Flo app so I’m waiting to see if the ovulation is correct from the app. Has anyone found this app to be accurate? If we haven’t been caught by the new year I will then start getting more serious with ovulation tests and sex more but I really want to try and not put pressure on us and have routine sex where it’s becoming a chore. Baby dust to you all and look forward to seeing how everyone is. I really doubt we have been caught as we have only done it twice but I suppose you never know 🤷‍♀️

MrsHousePlant · 24/09/2023 18:59

Static smiley today which makes it the same CD as last month. My only query with doing CB once a day using FMU is that realistically my peak could have been last night? I think I’m in the land of over thinking 😂

Anyway, DTD several times this week and again today so I feel like we’re doing/have done all we can!

TTCnewbies · 24/09/2023 18:48

Oh good luck @Tigger1116 all the best! A friend of mine is going through the same process at the moment with a donor. I can imagine that it is slightly more stressful. Praying for a positive outcome for all of us 🙏

Tigger1116 · 24/09/2023 18:33

@TTCnewbies hi today is cycle day 13 I have roughly a 40ish cycle I seem to ovulate around the 24th ish so I think my window could be from the 4th this will be the 2nd time trying and I’m using a donor as I’m single so get the right time is more stressful but will dtd on 5/6/7th oct so hopefully have more of a chance

TTCnewbies · 24/09/2023 15:08

@Tigger1116 oops. Just seen you said when!

Hi I’m 36 ttc baby 1 AF came September hoping this coming month will be lucky 2nd cycle I think I’m due to ovulate the first week 🤞got ovulation tests coming ect

When did AF come? Just wondering what cycle day you're on?

I'm on cycle day 13 today, I'm not doing any ovulation tests as only 1st month trying but I'm DTD as much as possible this week, we DTD Friday, yesterday and will do today but work may make us too knackered so may just do every other day this week.
Then I guess the wait to see if AF arrives. Not expecting much for month one of trying but we shall see.

Morning Team, bit of a random one but a new piece of info that I learned today which I wanted to share - it may be common knowledge and I’m just behind the times.

Apparently ibuprofen should be avoided if TTC as it’s associated with a higher rate of miscarriage before 8 weeks. Unfortunately I’ve been taking it for the last couple of days (inconveniently timed exactly with my LH surge) as I’ve been feeling rough with a cold. Too late to do anything now so I'm going to try and put it out of my mind and hope for the best but wanted to share the info in case it is helpful to anyone else. Paracetamol seems to be fine.

Oh wow! I had no idea about that either. I am a very headachy person so do take tablets on and off (mostly paracetamol) but would take ibuprofen if to hand. I try my hardest not to take anything where possible but sometimes work is just too hard with a headache. Really good to know.

@PurplePops ah if you just came off the pill your cycle could be a bit all over the place! Keep testing as it sounds like you haven’t ovulated yet. BBT has proven useful alongside opks and its not that expensive (thermometer only like £7)

hopefully your boyfriend feels better soon and you catch ovulation later but it could be that your body is getting back to normal.

i stopped my pill a few months before ttc so I could get back to a normal way just in case but at the time I wasn’t tracking so can’t say it helped.

fingers crossed for you

PurplePops · 24/09/2023 08:22

@DoloresOnTheDottedLine yeah I was putting off buying one they are so expensive but now thinking it's probably worth it. I'm on CD19 now with no clear positive result, its my first month after coming off the pill so maybe this month might be all over the place!

@CatiaR it wasn't as dark or darker than the control line it so I am hoping I've not ovulated yet! 🤞🏼 Will keep testing and hope I get a clear peak soon! I've never tried tracking BBT but might give that a go next month, I'm not feeling very optimistic this month tbh. My boyfriend has been ill with covid recently so not been able to DTD much really but here's hoping my peak is still to come xx

Sleepysheepish · 24/09/2023 00:30

@TTCnewbies it’s certainly a challenge! I get so sidetracked I forget to even think about dinner or what not and then I’m left scrambling last minute 😅
My partner is low libido so that makes the whole thing extra hard, he always has some reason why he’s not in the mood.

CatiaR · 23/09/2023 20:01

@DoloresOnTheDottedLine one day behind me yes! Nice to have more ppl around the same time 😊

that is odd, after tomorrow I’m not going to be baby making sex and just doing it when we want to, after ovulation as you said 24-48hrs that’s it for baby making so confused.com 😂

@PurplePops it depends, was it actually positive as in darker than the control line? It could be that you haven’t ovulated yet ( my last cycle I only ovulated on cd24! )

I’ve not tried digital ones as I’ve seen it’s expensive and been pinpointing easily with strips and confirming with BBT

@Sitchervice headheaches can be a symptom of ovulation I think? I had one the day before but not sure if it was related at all.

@MrsHousePlant hopefully you get it soon!

MrsHousePlant · 23/09/2023 19:05

I’m currently patiently awaiting my static smiley after three days of flashing on the CB test! If I follow the same pattern as last month this should be tomorrow. Husband isn’t complaining making time to DTD 😂

@DoloresOnTheDottedLine agree about the price…! Love how clear and easy it is but not sure how justifiable the cost could be longer term.

Sitchervice · 23/09/2023 18:22

Are headaches a symptom of Ovulation.
I use to get them during my period. I am irregular at the moment due to being post IUD removal. But this short amount of time would be stupid

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 23/09/2023 17:47

@PurplePops, I’ve never used the strips so can’t give a helpful response (except that I’ve definitely had a surge on day 18 and 19 before so you may still be building up to it).

I’ve found the digital clear blue tester really good - no room for ambiguity! It’s a scandalous price though.

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 23/09/2023 17:45

@CatiaR - I got my surge this morning so I’m just a day behind you! We DTD a couple of times earlier this week and will go for it tonight and tomorrow and Monday if we can muster up the enthusiasm.

I’m having some fertility treatment so I had to call my clinic this morning to let them know about the surge. Weirdly, they told me we should “engage in intercourse” (as they put it!) every other day for the next two weeks! I clarified and said I thought the chances of conceiving after Monday or Tuesday would be almost nil - she sort of waffled a bit and told me to crack on….

Would be interested to hear opinions on this - surely once ovulation has occurred (which I understand is 24 to 48 hours post surge), the sex is a bit pointless (in the sense of baby-making - obviously if we feel like having sex, we will!)? Realistically, DTD every other night for two weeks (when we’ve done that this week as well) feels a bit arduous….

Another ADHDer over here. I feel like I could have posted this myself!

Goodluck everyone!

I forgot how much I dislike TTC, I have ADHD so trying to remember to take prenatals, test, log data etc is hard….but at the same time my slightly obsessive side is like ‘must….log….all…the….things’ 🙄🤪

My estrogen levels have risen then fallen a little, and then risen again the last few days. But my LH continues to be zip. So in short I have no idea what’s happening. I’m thinking maybe I’ll ovulate the first couple of weeks in October? Or maybe not 😅

I can relate so much! I have ADHD too. The thing I will find hard is DTD more than normal. I always have a million tabs open in my head with things I need/ want to get done haha. And they often feel more important that DTD. I find doing it at the weekend I'm much more focused because I've got less going on.
I do love it btw... makes it sound like I don't. But I think people with ADHD will understand the struggle!
