TTC for 18+ months and feeling low!

Natty2 · 02/09/2023 14:42

I'm fairly new at this forum and decided to join after TTC since the start of 2022
We discovered earlier this year that my DH morphology was low, although all other results were normal. He implemented life style changes straight away, and even went through a varicocele embolisation a few months ago, so we're waiting to see if that's helped.

Having gone through the rest of the year undergoing tests everything seems normal, so the NHS are not letting us even get on the IVF list until 2024. It's been such a long, physical and emotional journey and there seems to be no end in sight.

Anyone else going through similar things? I feel like I live life in 2 week cycles and it's so hard to try and not think about it all!!
Any tips?!

@Natty2 did you have you scan today to check your progress? How's it all going?

I had my 12 week scan today, measured 12+4, so jumped 2 days ahead which was a nice surprise! All is looking good, so just got to wait on the nipt results now 😊

CatCaretaker · 15/01/2024 14:16

@Natty2 sorry, I missed it, what are the injections that you're taking? Fair play, sounds very difficult!

CatCaretaker · 15/01/2024 14:15

Hi @Natty2 don't worry, it's just nice to be amongst those who know the struggles.

His normal morphology was 30% when measured using WHO Gold book standard, which, when I checked, was the lowest limit of normal. Count and motility were normal.

The way that morphology is measured must differ depending on technique / standard.

Natty2 · 15/01/2024 13:55

@CatCaretaker I wish I had some good advice for you! Sadly most of us on here have/ had been ttc for almost two years now. What was your DPs morphology?
Mines was 1% which has increased to 2.5% but we have also just started our first round of IVF.

Good luck with your journey!

Thank you all! 💛 second day was a lot less shaky, so tonight I'm aiming for less hesitation 😅
Hope you're all ok

@Natty2 omg well done, you did it and that's amazing! I don't know if I will be able to. The plan is for my husband to do them at the moment. I think you're doing amazingly. Hopefully they will get easier as you go along too x

CatCaretaker · 14/01/2024 16:59

Hello, Could I join?

TTC for nearly a year now, never had a bfp. I have longer cycles (approx 35 days) and high AMH for my age but the luteal phase is exactly 2 weeks, and doctor does think I'm ovulating. I always get positive opks.

Dp has borderline low morphology, but everything else is perfect, so shouldn't be affecting conception.

I've had hormone tests, ultrasound to check tubes, etc. etc. No issues, no endometriosis, no blocked tubes (well, one is definitely clear, they couldn'tsee the othwr fully, but no readon why it would be), hormone levels normal (other than AMH), nothing unusual at all.

I know that not every egg is good, but surely one would have been in all this time? Feeling defeated about it all, mostly I guess because I just don't understand why.

missmoosh · 14/01/2024 16:41

@Natty2 eeek, proud of you, I'm sure the first one is always going to be the worst and you will become more confident with it!

@Foreverhopeful92 woop, have your first trimester symptoms settled down now? I'm hoping mine will at least settle a bit soon! 12 weeks tomorrow and even though your only 5 weeks ahead, it's feels like you are sooo much further along than me 😂

Foreverhopeful92 · 14/01/2024 13:14

Thank you! All okay so far 🤞 I’m 17 weeks now so about a month into the second trimester ❤️

Well done for your first injection! That’s amazing! I had to do some injections after an operation and the nurse had to show my husband how to do it as I just couldn’t do it!

Natty2 · 14/01/2024 12:23

@missmoosh yes, I did the first one last night!! I was doing ok all day and then at the time of injecting I was a trembling, emotional mess! But one down and about 20 more to go 🙌 😅

I go up to two daily injections from Wednesday and have my first scan and bloods to check progress.

Good luck for Wednesday!!

@Natty2 @LucyLoopyLu @missmoosh So lovely to get the notification and see all your updates!

@Natty2 and @LucyLoopyLu wishing you the best of luck for starting the next step! I’m sure it’s a mixture of emotions but looking forward to hearing how everything progresses for you both!

@missmoosh Good Luck for your 12 week scan! I know the mixture of excitement and nerves ❤️ Sorry to hear about your sickness that sounds very challenging - I hope it passes for you and you feel better as you go into the second trimester!

kalixxx · 12/01/2024 15:14

@Natty2 I’ve not posted on this thread for a while but do check in now and then.

Just wanted to say good luck and I’m rooting for you! X

LucyLoopyLu · 12/01/2024 14:37

@missmoosh oh no, that sounds grim. I think you're still allowed to complain and grumble about feeling so poorly. Hope it passes soon for you in second trimester x

Natty2 · 12/01/2024 13:01

Thank you both!
And @LucyLoopyLu 🙌🙌

@Natty2 ahh it begins! Glad AF didn't have you hanging around waiting for it to start! Hopefully your first try is a sticky bean and you don't have to go through it all again, but I totally understand the mentality of bank as many as you can as that's what I was thinking at the time too! Don't be too disheartened if you don't get lots though, from what I read the first round is trial and error on the protocol.

I have the dreaded hyperemesis, so the sickness has been brutal I can't lie. It's very hard mentally as I want the baby so much and I don't want to moan, given how lucky I feel to be pregnant. But at the same time I feel like death haha!

@LucyLoopyLu yes it has come round so quickly, I'm praying all is well! And also well said in response to that other poster. I'm not even going to bother responding to the comment, I think I would find myself abruptly removed from mumsnet if I said what I thought of it!!!

LucyLoopyLu · 12/01/2024 10:28

@Natty2 wow exciting times! Sending you lots of luck, hope the injections go well x

I firmly believe that its the actively trying to conceive that stops you from actually conceiving! It's surprising what stress does to your body!

Myself and partner conceived on our 3rd cycle of, and I swear it's because on the 3rd one we weren't trying, as we both believed we had missed the window due to me being away.

I know its hard, but you need to relax, don't measure your temp, do ovulation tests etc, and just go with it. Have things to look forward to etc.

Wow. Read the room. You conceived on your third cycle and think you're qualified to give us all advice? I've literally just seen a consultant this week to kick start IVF. Pretty sure I will be listening to her opinion more than yours.

Also I've been trying for nearly two years. Do you really think I haven't had cycles where I've been relaxed? I literally went on a once in a lifetime holiday to a tropical island last year and guess what, no BFP.

Natty2 · 12/01/2024 06:34

@LucyLoopyLu @missmoosh 13dpo... which means as usual my day 1 has arrived. Will be calling my clinic this morning and injections start tomorrow!

@HalloumiGeller I think that may be the case for unexplained but unfortunately we were diagnosed with issues therefore starting ivf this month

@Natty2 that's exciting that your medication has arrived, I can totally understand it was a bit overwhelming. I felt a bit overwhelmed just seeing my protocol written out yesterday. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Are you just waiting for AF now?

@missmoosh thanks so much. Glad to hear you're doing well although 12 week scan next week seems to have come around fast! Would love to hear any updates and wishing you all the best

Natty2 · 11/01/2024 18:04

@missmoosh yeah it was quite emotional getting them!
My bbt has been really high this month so we did test yesterday but it was a bfn. To be honest I was actually ok with that though! As this is an nhs round I'm hoping that we can just freeze a good amount of embryos so we don't have to pay for the whole process again. That's our main mission now as we know the first transfer has a low % of success.
I'll be doing everything possible though to hope it will work!

Fingers crossed for your scan! Hope you've not been suffering too much with the sickness

@Natty2 how exciting that your meds have arrived! How are you feeling? I know I cried when mine arrived, the sudden realisation it was happening (albeit it never did). Let us know when all the injections kick off!

Yes 12 week scan is on Wednesday next week, I will be 12+2 based on dating from early scan. Praying little bean is still doing well!

@LucyLoopyLu glad to hear there is a plan in place for you now. Hopefully this is the light at the end of a very dark tunnel for you both.
