1DPO... any cycle buddies out there?

I'm currently TTC following a miscarriage at 12 weeks on 5th August. I haven't had a period yet but we decided not to wait, as I'm desperate to be pregnant again and I think that is the only thing that will make me feel better about the loss. I have been tracking ovulation and did catch my peak so now just hoping I've got the timing of DTD right.

Just wondering if anyone out there TTC is around the same time in their cycle so that we can chat to each other really. I think I'm already driving my husband mad, it would be nice to speak to other people who really understand how I'm feeling! 😊

10DPO is still pretty early though @Amberellalina so fingers crossed there will be something there next time you test!

I also got a BFN this morning but only 8DPO and using a cheap easy@home test which are apparently less sensitive? Tempted to buy an early response but I hate spending money on the more expensive tests just for it to be negative!

How’s everyone doing? BFN for me at 10 dpo :-( but I checked my apps and I didn’t get a bfp until 13 dpo last time, so gonna try to hold out until Saturday to test again ☺️ more spotting yesterday anyway so if it is AF then it’s clearly not my month, and if it is implantation then it’d be too early for hcg to be detectable…

Kewchoc · 05/09/2023 18:44

Yep I can definitely see a line there @HashB do another test in morning and hopefully it will be clearer! Keep us updated 😊

I've also just done a test which I was 100% certain would be negative before I even did it but the baby fever took over, despite only being 7DPO and having drank about 6 pints of water today haha. Obviously negative!!

Agathapoirot · 05/09/2023 16:54

Agree I can see something too… got everything crossed for you x

Amberellalina · 05/09/2023 16:29

Well, I can definitely see something there - whether it’s a vvfl (potentially very exciting) or an indent or an evap I don’t know… probably worth a test with fmu tomorrow…

HashB · 05/09/2023 16:19

I’m home alone today as my other half is away for a few days. When I’m left to my own devices is when I tend to spiral, so despite saying I wouldn’t do another test until the weekend, I got to 3pm and did one.

I do think I can see the shadow of what would be another line, but I can’t seem to capture it on camera without having to play with the settings.

The thing is, I actually feel quite periody today. I’ve been crampy all day and my knees ache which is a period symptom I used to get prior to having a coil fitted 🤷🏼‍♀️i guess this is what I get for being too neurotic and testing too early.

Do you think the US could be persuaded to move Labour Day to next week when we all know what’s going on this cycle? 😂

Kewchoc · 05/09/2023 12:40

@HashB Let's hope both of our twinges were lucky twinges lol 😊

I'm excited for those of you a few days ahead to start testing in the next few days!! Fingers crossed for lots of BFP's! 🤞🏼

@moosey89 @Amberellalina @GuessHowMuch

i haven’t bought Mira but I did get a text with a 20% discount code that expires TODAY
LABORDAY23
if you want to use it

xx

moosey89 · 04/09/2023 21:12

@GuessHowMuch a lot! I wait for them to do sales which they do intermittently, usually on US public holidays as they are an American company haha. I think for a box of 20 wands that do the 3 hormones (oestrogen, LH, progesterone) it's £89.99 for 20. I use about 7-10 a cycle (10 at the moment because post miscarriage I want a base level to work from). Their sales are usually 20% ish off, and you can do a 'subscribe and save' thing too if you know you're going to want to do it for a few months.

HashB · 04/09/2023 19:33

I just wrote out a long reply to everyone and it deleted it! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

@moosey89 good luck with your Guinea pig tests! I’m actually really impressed at what you can find out for yourself at home.

@Amberellalina got my fingers crossed for you!

@glasshalffull0 welcome! I’m really loving how close together everyone in this thread is. I’m 9DPO and also did a test yesterday for it to be negative. I don’t know why I even did it but I feel your disheartedness.

@GuessHowMuch sorry to hear AF came to town. They say don’t make big decisions when you’re emotional and I am always extra emotional on my period.

@Kewchoc i also had some twinges and cramping today but it lasted all of 10 minutes 👎🏼 it did however lead me to learning when the implantation window actually is as I didn’t even know that! So … always a silver lining.

Kewchoc · 04/09/2023 17:49

Hi everyone,

How you all doing? I've never even heard of Mira so this is interesting to read!

Fingers crossed it's implantation @Amberellalina

Im 6DPO today and had some mild twinges this afternoon... pretty certain it was psychological though as I've been counting down to 6DPO with it being a possible start of the implantation window!

Thanks for the info @moosey89; sounds like a really comprehensive, albeit expensive, system! How much do you reckon you spend on sticks each cycle please?

Got my fingers crossed that your spotting is a sign of something good @Amberellalina. Are you normally an early tester?

AF was due yesterday or today; got through to 3pm with no AF so bought a test and pretty much straight after my BFN AF arrived. Ffs.

Now to make the decision on whether to dive back in to TTC properly. We’ve tried a couple of times for a third - gave up after chemicals and illness last time. I’m worrying that 40 is too old to be starting again.

What cycle are you on @glasshalffull0 ? Still loads of time for a BFP this cycle (although been there plenty of times staring at an early BFP and feeling despair!!).

glasshalffull0 · 04/09/2023 16:26

Can I join please? 8DPO today and I stupidly took a test which was a BFN. It's so disheartening 😞

I have had quite tender boobs today which I don't usually get and backache and some mild cramps- very frustrating that these could just as easily be AF symptoms!

moosey89 · 04/09/2023 15:55

@HashB they only ask you to test twice on what they think is peak LH, so just the one day to confirm! They have different sticks, so ones I use are:

  • oestrogen, LH and progesterone combined (I stop these a couple of days after ovulation)
  • progesterone only (for ovulation confirmation and levels in second half of cycle)

They have a few others too, including one for FSH which tests egg reserves (somehow, don't know how but there you go 😂) but that's more like a use it for a month rather than ongoing.

I've made myself a guinea pig today - I've got my NHS normal blood test, done a home fingerprint blood test and done my urine test. Seeing how accurate the at home ones really are!

Amberellalina · 04/09/2023 14:10

Or early AF I guess, but I hope not because that would mean a really short luteal phase…

Amberellalina · 04/09/2023 14:09

I had a bit more convincing spotting today, which could be implantation or it could be the last bit of mc bleeding - I’ve heard it can stop and start. I guess we’ll found out later this week… quite glad I’m not home today otherwise I would probably cave and test tomorrow (9dpo) 😂

Amberellalina · 04/09/2023 14:06

@moosey89 I’m sorry your progesterone levels aren’t playing ball but pleased you might be on your way to a solution. It is interesting to hear about your experiences with Mira - and after all it is cheaper that IVF! I might look into it if I have no luck this cycle or next… I wondered if my progesterone was on the low side when I was trying while bfing, and that was why I didn’t catch. I found this article helpful https://www.myfertilityfocus.com/day-21-progesterone-test-level-explained/

HashB · 04/09/2023 12:32

@moosey89 i’m really pleased for you that you might have more clarity on what’s going on.

I looked at Mira for this cycle but didn’t bother because I wanted to know about progesterone and for some reason didn’t think it was covered. I must have misread but if this cycle doesn’t work (and I’m not too hopeful that it has) then I’ll get it for next.

I saw how expensive the sticks are, but do they ever encourage you to test twice on any days like premom do? Because if so I’ll run through those 10 sticks fast!

moosey89 · 04/09/2023 08:40

@GuessHowMuch I'm finding it really interesting - it showed me that when I was getting a flashing smiley on clearblue was actually at least 24hrs before my peak, which explains why I got pregnant from only DTD once, the day after the static smiley!
And it was reassuring to see the other hormone levels too (oestrogen and FSH). I'll warn you that it's not cheap, and the sticks are blooming expensive. I don't plan to use it forever but for 4 ish months I think so I can get the full view of my cycle.

Progesterone wise, hopefully as simple as taking some pessaries from ovulation onwards! I have had issues conceiving and also staying pregnant so if that's the cause then it's possibly the easiest fix of everything!

GuessHowMuch · 03/09/2023 22:50

Hi, hope you don’t mind me joining you? Had one drunken DTD at the right-ish point in my cycle this month, although not officially TTC yet. 13DPO today and I’ve had all the usual PMT symptoms so expecting AF tomo. It’s reeeeeeally made me realise how much I want another; a dream I’m just not ready to let go of yet.

Wondering if I can ask you about the Mira fertility monitor please @moosey89 - I’ve got a long term health condition so would have to be careful with meds while TTC/pregnant so if we do start to TTC again I want to throw everything at it.

Hope you get some good news on your test. Have you had any low progesterone symptoms? Is it an easy fix?

moosey89 · 03/09/2023 22:00

@Amberellalina @HashB I have a Mira fertility tracker that gives you the actual value of the hormones including progesterone and it's half where it should be apparently to sustain a pregnancy. I've got a day 21 blood test tomorrow so I guess that will give a definitive answer.

HashB · 03/09/2023 17:23

@BelBabe we must be equally impatient people! I just looked back through my Flo app and last time I didn’t get a (extremely faint) positive until 11DPO so I think I will try and hold out until the end of the week like you.

BelBabe · 03/09/2023 16:36

@HashB my period is due Saturday and I did a test today too. No idea why as I promised myself I wouldn't. No symptoms at all this weekend so I'm not holding out hope at all.
Going to sit on hands all week and lock the tests away, maybe do one on Friday if period symptoms haven't started by then

HashB · 03/09/2023 15:48

Hi @Agathapoirot sorry to hear your loss. Sounds like we’re in similar boats but wish you the best of luck!

@moosey89 how did you start to suspect your progesterone might be low? Hope you get sorted quick.

@Amberellalina i am the same as you. Last time I was pregnant I had zero symptoms prior to testing too.

I don’t know why as I’m only 8DPO but I took a test this morning and it was a solid negative. Period isn’t due until next Sunday, don’t really know why I did the test (other than to make myself feel bad?).
