I'm currently TTC following a miscarriage at 12 weeks on 5th August. I haven't had a period yet but we decided not to wait, as I'm desperate to be pregnant again and I think that is the only thing that will make me feel better about the loss. I have been tracking ovulation and did catch my peak so now just hoping I've got the timing of DTD right.

Just wondering if anyone out there TTC is around the same time in their cycle so that we can chat to each other really. I think I'm already driving my husband mad, it would be nice to speak to other people who really understand how I'm feeling! 😊

Hey, hope you’re all doing well, and surviving the TWW!

I got my peak yesterday morning, at least I think I did, still not convinced in testing at the right time and not drinking too much 🤣 but it means ovulation day is today and is CD15 which sounds about right 🤣

Got two really busy weeks at work now and a marathon to run next weekend all being well so hopefully that will keep me busy in the TWW

@moosey89 - hopefully it’s not too long of a wait to see a consultant and get what you need, so rubbish that they can’t just help now that you’ve got all the info you need!

No weekend plans here, looking forward to a quiet one 🤩

moosey89 · 30/09/2023 09:10

@Amberellalina ah I'm afraid I'm not too sure on standalone home urine tests - I've only done the home blood test which was very accurate! I do use Mira which does analyse progesterone and that seemed to align with both a home blood test and an NHS one so hopefully they're accurate!

I'm actually feeling a bit down. Feel like it won't be my month again but can't put my finger on why. I am currently 7dpo so nothing to really tell me I'm out but yeah...just not feeling positive!

Amberellalina · 30/09/2023 07:53

Yes, I agree 😊it’s easier to keep track of people and their individual stories so I feel invested in everyone’s journey in a way that’s difficult with the busy threads!

Not much planned for the weekend, the weather forecast looks a bit variable and because we prefer to be outdoors if we can we’ll just play it by ear! How about you?

On the subject of testing, I’ve just ordered some pdg testing strips (first time I’ve used them) which are supposed to be a measure of progesterone. According to Premom I do this on Wednesday… Not sure if it’s reliable (maybe @moosey89 will know?) but I thought it would break up the TWW at least!

Kewchoc · 30/09/2023 07:39

How's everyone feeling today? Do we all have nice weekends planned?

Not toooooo long left til we can start testing now 🤞🏼 I must say I'm really enjoying this thread, I sometimes find other threads difficult to follow when there's a lot of people on them but I think there's a nice number of us in here 😊

Oh it's so ridiculous how it all works isn't it. Also very annoying that most of these decisions are likely made by men 🙄

moosey89 · 29/09/2023 09:00

@Amberellalina well only if you have the right insurance! That's the upside of the US system, it's all about money so doctors are more likely to do more tests sooner as it's more dollars in their pocket!

Amberellalina · 29/09/2023 07:20

@moosey89 that’s annoying! The nhs is rubbish for fertility isn’t it? Based on what I’ve read online, American women seem to get much more help!

@Kewchoc alas we’d have to pay for the IVF ourselves since we already have a child together.

Sending positivity to everyone for the weekend.

moosey89 · 28/09/2023 13:21

@Amberellalina sadly can't get a prescription until I see the consultant apparently which seems ridiculous given I know and have tests saying it's too low! B6 I already take along with lots of other vitamins haha

Kewchoc · 28/09/2023 10:48

@Amberellalina Oh I'm happy that you're feeling positive about things 😊 I am too, as I've realised our timings were actually quite good this month. I'm terrible at remembering to take the pregnancy vitamins though so who knows! Will you be able to access ivf through the nhs?

Yes I know you're right about the psychic 🤣 ridiculous really but I guess I'm just desperate and clutching at straws! Interesting about the double peak, I may also continue testing just to see!

OP posts:
Amberellalina · 28/09/2023 08:48

Also I read this really interesting paper about the characteristics of LH surges, and it prompted me to keep testing after I got my positive because apparently you can have a double peak. It turns out I am a single peak-er as expected, but I have a slow rise, which means I should be able to spot it coming earlier next month…

Amberellalina · 28/09/2023 08:30

Morning all! How are we feeling today? I’m feeling very positive about this tww, partly because we’ve decided that if we’re not pregnant by Christmas then we’ll do the IVF. It feels like it’s taken the pressure off a bit!

@Kewchoc, total nonsense. Even though I’m a scientist I do think the universe is weirder than we realise, and we just haven’t found the explanations for everything yet. Even so I can’t see how psychic readings via tiktok would ever be possible, you could test it by changing your username and asking them again ☺️ But in any case let’s assume they meant a baby in August, which means you’ll get your bfp two cycles after this one.

@moosey89 good to hear investigations are ongoing! Are you going to try taking extra progesterone or do you need to wait a bit? I also wonder if b6 might help?

Kewchoc · 27/09/2023 18:07

@moosey89 yeah, I can see why it would definitely make things easier and keep sex fun instead of a chore that has to be done on certain days.

I was scrolling on TikTok earlier and fertility psychic popped up doing free readings... so I asked and she said august 😭 even though the logic part of my brain knows it's nonsense I'm still like but what if she somehow is right?!

OP posts:
moosey89 · 27/09/2023 14:21

@Kewchoc haha yep totally simple! I keep recommending it to people even if just to give them a break if TTC has been going on a while, saves missing a month x

Kewchoc · 27/09/2023 13:03

@moosey89 oh that is simple!! I don't know why but I was expecting it to be very scientific!!

OP posts:
moosey89 · 27/09/2023 11:15

@Kewchoc it's very unglamorous but simple! He does his business into a little pot, and then you leave it to liquify for 20mins and use an applicator to pop it inside! Job done 😁 I tend to just lie down for 20min after as it makes me feel like more is going to the right place hahaha

Kewchoc · 27/09/2023 10:32

@moosey89 sorry I missed your reply don't know how!! Do you mind me asking how that works? Wondering if that's maybe an option for us going forward if this does keep happening

OP posts:
Kewchoc · 27/09/2023 10:32

Thanks for all the replies. I suppose you probably are all right, I know the egg is released hours after the peak so maybe I'm worrying over nothing. Every single month I tell myself I'm not going to obsess over it but then I seem to get more mental each month!!

@Crazydogladie I agree that's probably the best thing to do... all this pressure isn't good for anyone so I think it's much better to do what you're doing. I wish I could do the same but something just takes over... I do really struggle with anxiety generally so I imagine it stems from that

@Amberellalina thanks DH is okay, he was absolutely thrilled with himself when he did manage to finish last night 🤣

OP posts:
moosey89 · 27/09/2023 08:57

@Amberellalina almost exactly the same measurements as last month - unfortunately my day 21 falls on a Saturday and there's no blood tests over the weekend! So I won't be able to get that redone until next month which is annoying. I'm not tracking for the next few days either as I'm away, so day 22 of my cycle is the first time I'll be able to check it again. Not got high hopes for this month but hopefully I'll not have day 21 on a weekend next month so I can get an accurate measurement! 🙈

Amberellalina · 27/09/2023 07:10

Yep, I agree @Kewchoc. Sounds like you were bang on timing wise to me so don’t worry! Especially if you also managed it on Sunday. Hope your DH is Ok - it is definitely a high pressure situation for them.

I think that’s really healthy @Crazydogladie. I told my doctor last week (Went to see her about the random bleeding) that I was stressing about it. She said to stop worrying and just dtd every three days and that should catch it…

@moosey89 how are you getting on with your progesterone?

Crazydogladie · 26/09/2023 23:35

The pressure can definitely be a lot for men, I think because it’s really the one time in the whole TTC process where it’s all on them! I would like to try SMEP but I know the pressure wouldn’t suit us as a couple, so we just try to make sure we get at least one BD in around the 72hrs of the peak OPK and then think of anything more than that as a bonus. Once in that window is all it takes apparently - It helps my own anxiety to think of that way anyway! It definitely doesn’t sound like you’re too late @Kewchoc it actually sounds like you were probably bang on ovulation time if it was 12 hours after the peak, but I do understand the panic feeling!

moosey89 · 26/09/2023 21:08

@Kewchoc aw it definitely sounds like he's feeling the pressure. If it helps, it's a lot more common than you'd expect. My other half can't finish around 90% of the time so we have to do home artificial insemination. It really helps take the performance pressure away, and it means sex is saved for intimacy. A wierd but nice side effect of something that he finds quite emotionally difficult!

Also please don't worry about the opk - the LH peak usually comes 12-18 hours before you ovulate and then the egg has to travel to the fallopian tube anyway, so you definitely still have a chance x

Kewchoc · 26/09/2023 20:52

How strange that we've all got curated late and then not be a happened for all of us at the same time!

What time is your husband back @Crazydogladie ? Will you have time to bd tonight? I was doing the same as you and once I'd gotten a positive OPK and we DTD thought I was done! But then I was reading about the sperm meets egg plan which says to do DTD for three days in a row following a positive ovulation test so we're going to try that this month.

@Amberellalina yea it is going to be difficult but thankfully my little one and his cousins will be running riot which will take my mind off things! The not drinking thing is rough isn't it, people can't seem to help but ask why you're not drinking or if you're keeping a secret etc!!

So I'm being completely neurotic right now and trying really hard not to get upset, but it's not something I want to tell any of my friends about as it would embarrass my husband but none of you know who I am so I'm coming to you! A few nights ago my husband and I were talking about the miscarriage and I was saying how I just don't think I'll be truly happy until we have another baby. Fast forward a few days and I started getting the stronger lines on ovulation test so we were making a point of DTD. Last night I was saying I thought I was either ovulating or about to ovulate so we really needed to have sex... so we started and then my husband literally could not 'perform' for lack of a better word. So we left it and then this morning got the properly positive OPK. We tried to have sex this morning and the same thing happened again, he just could not do it. Now this has literally never happened in all of the years we've been together so I really think it's due to the pressure of knowing I'm ovulating/wanting to get pregnant. But now I'm really panicking that I'm already out this month as we did manage to DTD tonight, I did an OPK straight after which was nowhere near positive so now I'm really panicking that I've already ovulated and we've missed it by not having sex last night or this morning 😞 I feel genuinely gutted. Sorry this is so long!!

Great news @Crazydogladie. It’s such a relief when it finally happens isn’t it? Interesting strategy re bding, normally we do day of surge, day after that (presumably ovulation) AND the day after, just to be sure. This time we also got the day before surge so if it is not our month it definitely won’t be because our timings are off!

And @Kewchoc yep, that sounds tough. I guess you’ll be busy, which will stop you testing obsessively, but maybe it would be less stressful to take a test anyway rather than just not know? Tricky.

My parents are visiting weekend after next so I’ll be doing the weird making an excuse for not drinking thing while not knowing if I’m pregnant or not…

Still, we’ve all got a week or so of behaving (relatively) normally now before the next round of madness descends so let’s enjoy it!

Crazydogladie · 26/09/2023 11:27

That’s a tough call @Kewchoc , sounds like being there might bring up some rough feelings. If it’s only a few days it might be best to hold off, but I know that is so much easier said than done! I’ll be about halfway through my holiday when it’s time to test this month and after the chemical last month I don’t want to be dealing with that while I’m away but don’t think I’ll be able to control myself not to test!

Crazydogladie · 26/09/2023 10:14

I finally got a positive OPK this morning too! And of course my husband is away until tonight so I’m just hoping I don’t ovulate until tomorrow! We are def also feeling a bit of baby dancing fatigue from the long drawn out wait for ovulation this month, I think my husband will be relieved when I tell him tonight is the last ‘we have to’ night for the month 😂
