Hi Sue10, and thanks for replying. How awful for you seeing a pg colleague every day. I mostly work with young lads, so at least I don't have that trial!

We're seeing the local hospital, which I'm fine about as we're 2hrs from London and don't need the extra hassle of getting time off work to travel to London. I reckon they'll be just as efficient at getting results for the basic blood tests etc.

What's your situation now - ttc after mc?

sue10 · 17/06/2008 14:10

Hi there,
sorry for your losses, it's not fair is it? It's hard going back to work, i was pleased in the end that i had'nt told anyone why i was off as my colleague was preg when i returned which would have made things very awkward, still it was really hard to keep the mask on all day every day! Have you been referred to St Mary's in London or a local specialist? Takecare.
XXX.

tryingnottoobsess · 17/06/2008 13:19

anyone interested in ressurecting this thread?

Had my 3rd mc last week, so am now officially 'recurrent' - great.

Feel totally at sea... today is my first day back at work... nobody knows why I was off, and I can't concentrate at all.

Feel so let down (by who, I don't know?!) and just want to stamp my foot because it is so unfair... ridiculous I know!

We've been referred to a specialist, so all of that is in hand, but, well... it is cold comfort.

anyone who was originally on this thread got any updates?

This message is for Tye although I'm aware that its been over a month since her query so she may not see it.

Tye, I'm very, very sorry for your loss - it sounds as though your twins died of TTTS (Twin Twin Transfusion Syndrome) which can happen quite frequently in identical twin pregnancies. Identical twins share a placenta which can sometimes be faulty in that they give all the blood to one twin whilst the other starves. If you google TTTS you'll find loads of info about it so I won't go into detail here. I have been incredibly fortunate to have identical twin girls, TTTS was diagnosed at 16weeks and I had to have surgery to correct it and thank God they survived.

For the other mums going through recurrent miscarriage testing - if at all possible try to have your blood tests done when you think you might have conceived. The reason I say this is because I just knew I had conceived on several occassions but an initial positive pregnancy test turned into a negative test a few days later on 6 separate occassions. I had the recurrent miscarriage blood tests done on the NHS one month when I had been advised to not attempt to conceive and they all came back clear. I fought to get them repeated and the second time I got them done we had tried to conceive and my blood tests came back saying I had sky high NKCells so my body only produced the NKcells when I had conceived in order to naturally abort the baby. This would not show if you weren't already pregnant. To those that are diagnosed with high NKcells, or lupus anticoagulant or any thrombotic problem the treatment is incredibly effective and simple so please do not give up hope but do fight for the tests because the NHS should provide them. I speak from a very positive experience having had my 2 gorgeous girls after several miscarriages.

Don't give up hope, there is ALWAYS a reason why you have repeated miscarriages, it is NOT a question of luck so don't accept that from your GP.

Sorry to rant it just makes me so cross that GPs know so little about a very common problem which can be so very easy to treat with the right diagnosis.

i was fertile the day before dh's test so we didi it anyway, his boys were good (but then he does have supersperm)

OP posts:
downbutnotout · 08/05/2008 18:58

That's what I thought. He looked a bit doubtful about holding out for that long

OracleInaCoracle · 08/05/2008 17:34

um, dh was told not to abstain for longer than a week but for at least 4 days, never heard of 10 surely that bad for the boys?

OP posts:
downbutnotout · 08/05/2008 17:31

V. useful jules!

While we're on the subject, dh has to give a sperm sample and has been told he needs to abstain for ten days before giving it. Is this normal?

OracleInaCoracle · 30/04/2008 09:20

thank you jules!

I have had 3 miscarriages too and felt awful about them. I spoke to a very lovely lady yesterday and she explained to me that souls come through when they want to come through. Sometimes our bodies are just a landing pad for them to come through and go onto someone else. Like a baby that is going to die, that is in an incubator, the soul passes through you/me in order to get to that baby so he/she will live because that baby's soul is moving on. If you think about it like this, it makes it easier to believe there was a reason for the miscarriage. We will all have souls come to us when they are ready to come to us. Most of the time they are wanting to come through, but we need to make changes in our lives. For example, I have to love my inner child and my adult self to be a good mother and that is why my baby is waiting for the right time to come through. It will happen and in the meantime think of your miscarriages are little souls coming to earth through you. That is why sometimes we have a strong connection to someone, because they may have come through us to get to earth. I may sound like a loonie, but I m spiritual nd I like to believe this theory. I know my children will come to me when they are ready to be with me.
