carolyn1941 · 02/04/2008 13:20

OMG I'm furious! Need to rant sorry! I just checked my bank account and the council have taken a full years council tax in one go! (over £1300 !!!). I have always paid by monthly direct debit! So I checked my last letter from them and in really small print at bottom they have changed it from monthly to annually! I am furious! That's virtually my whole months wages gone! And I don't think there's anything I can do! Sorry, rant over

Morning all.

Majormoo - I am thinking of you. You must feel like you are in a terrible limbo. I agree with everyone else that the only way to sort it out is to see your GP.

Carolyn. I breastfed both of mine too. DS1 for 4 months and DS2 for about 6 months. I felt like I gave up too early on both occasions so will go longer this time if I can. You still need a sterilizer as it is a good thing to get into the habit of expressing milk to give from a bottle - that way you can go out and leave the baby with DH or go out together (if you have the energy!).

Soosy - I know what you mean regarding the house hunting. There is no pleasure in it when you are under pressure to find somewhere. We had our house on the market for 18 months then suddenly sold it 6 weeks before Ds2 was due. We managed to find this house which was occupied by two old people who had already purchased a bungalow with bridging finance and were only too happy to move out in 5 weeks (we also sold our house to a cash buyer so were very lucky). I'm sure people thought we were time wasters looking around as I was heavily pregnant and we managed to move to quite an affulent area (due to DH's mother dying and leaving us some inheritance).

Teachers - it is very inconvenient to me for you to be striking on a Thursday. Ds2 is at childminders and it is one of the days I work . DH is a civilian in the police and commented that if the teachers get the money this time that'll be a crap payrise for him in September . Bloody government!

Ceebee - DS2 still has reflux - eventually you get used to the vomit and my life was revolutionised when I realised that a mix of liquid non-bio with a good dash of milton was excellent to clean carpets and irradicating smells.........

Hi to everyone I've missed - you've all been really busy!

Heartmum2Jamie · 02/04/2008 09:40

Majormoo, I can't imagine how "up in the air" you must be feeling. I agree with the others though, I would get in at the GP and ask for quantative bloods to check your levels.

Carolyn, I breatfed both my boys. DS1 was breastfed exclusively for 8 weeks then mixed fed (breast/bottle) for another 8 weeks before he swapped exclusively to the bottle. He also had dummy's, so a sterilizer was a must (although cold water sterilising works just as well, no fancy gadgets needed for that, a container of some kind, a tablets or liquid and something like a plate to hold the stuff under the water, lol!)

DS2 was exclusively breastfeed until he finally started solids at 8 months and continued to mainly fed at the breast with little bits of food until he was 15 months. I carried on feednig him for a long time, but our circumstances were very different to the norm. He never took to a bottle or a dummy, but as he was poorly and on meds, he had a lot of medical syringes, so the steriliser was still useful.

I don't have the sterilser anymore, we worse it out, lol! I guess I may have to get a new one, they do come in handy whether you breastfeed or not. Not sure if I should get a mircrowave one or a cold water one though!

Majormoo - sooooo happy for you . I agree with MJIM and Bellie, a quick trip to docs, tell them what happened etc. It would help put your mind at rest. I also agree it does only take one swimmer, and some people do say that it often happens when you're not trying so hard! I really hope it is true!

I am not striking as must be in different union but I do agree with BB. I try so hard not to get caught up in the politics of it all, as I REALLY do enjoy my job a lot! Having said that I am very much looking forward to maternity leave and a break from teaching. I can't afford not to go back though so DP will be a stay at home Dad and maybe work a few evenings. He is really looking forwards to this!

Can I ask you all if you bottle feed or breast? It's just that you have mentioned sterilisers and its something I have been thinking about recently. Please feel free not to answer!

Hope HC gets on here today...maybe she has been whisked away for a minibreak!

Well the pain has gone (bizarre) but took your advice justin case . Cheers guys!

Bellie · 02/04/2008 08:09

ooh majormoo - what a turmoil for you. I would definately agree with mjim and get yourself to the doctors to measure your HCG levels.

Hugs and best of luck!!

evening. Could not get on earlier as DH was working late on the computer.
Had decided not to mention the BFP for a while as feel so odd about the whole thing but decided that is a bit silly. I definitely miscarried on 1st March as went from postive tests to negative and bled for a week. I usually have a 28 day cycle so normally would have been due on a few days ago but as had had a miscarriage could have taken up to six weeks for normal service to resume! However on Sunday DH wanted to take kids to lambing, so thought I had better test just in case and lo and behold. The thing is I felt so down and exhausted by the events of the month before that we have only had sex maybe twice in the whole month and not early on in the month at all. Trying to ignore the whole thing (and failing) in case all ends up the same as last month.

Soosy sorry to hear house hunting is not much fun.

BB my sister is a teacher as well and I think she is also looking forward to a break from it for a while when she has her baby.

ceebee my DS was sick all the time as well, although not as severe as yours. I walked around covered in sick for 6months. (sorry BB!)

Belgian - not long till testing - I think you must be next eh?? Are you a teacher too?
Does it mean our own teachers on this thread will be marching??

Washing been on and some drying, but smelt a lot after being stuck in some container probably in Heathrow!!

soosy - good luck with the househunting - I love it, but it can be really frustrating and a waste of time as you know when you walk in the door whether it is worth continuing or not, but you at least have to go all the way round!

Have just checked the post-natal thread that me and HC are on and she last posted on there on Friday night - but she did post on here on Sunday so it hasn't been that long - but having said that, it is not like her to not post every day. HC are you ok?

MJIM -

Majormoo please put us out of our misery!

I agree with HM2J Angel, I even cancelled a holiday to italy at about 24 weeks, paid for by my Dad, because I was too worried that something would go wrong.

Hello everyone I am v busy with looking at houses, I thought it would be fun, but finding it very depressing, there doesn't seem to be much on the market and the stuff on is too expensive for what it is. So going to look at something completely different on Saturday.

Will catch up later - have to cook DH supper.

Sx

Heartmum2Jamie · 01/04/2008 19:27

Mjim, I am glad tyour ds is getting over the pox now, I hope you are feeling better and your cough isn't so bad now.

Bellie, I am glad that your suitcase showed up at last! Enjoy the washing, today was a good drying day!

Angel, that is a dilema, I think it is a very personal choice but have to admit I would not want to be flying long haul past 20 week I don't think, even though my pregnancies have been uncomplicated.

Majormoo, you can't leave us all hanging like this!! I have everything crossed it is true!

Bellie · 01/04/2008 19:10

carolyn - sounds like it might be ovulation pain - go for it!!

carolyn1941 · 01/04/2008 18:32

majormoo - so you are pg after all? What you thought was AF must have been something else? If this is true I am overjoyed for you . Hopefully one of the others will be along soon to advise, as I know nothing of these things ...sorry

Angel - I don't want to sound flippant here, but as I see it you have 2 options. 1. You put off the ttc til after you get back. You want to start your family with no regrets and having done the things you wanted to do. Go to Oz, have a great time, and be ready to be a mummy when you return or 2. You get your bpf (hopefully soon)and take your lo to Oz to see your sister and still have a dream holiday, assuming she will still be there in say a years time? A very difficult decision, but as has been said only you and DP can decide. It would be awful though if you put off ttc and then took years to concieve after you got back, but I'm sure this has occured to you already. while you are thinking about it

Hello to everyone else

Bellie · 01/04/2008 18:00

wooooo - majormoo - you can't slip that in and then run off
