Where do you buy First Response?

Hi, I want to buy some First Response Early Results tests but every shop I look in just has ClearBlue or own brands. Have looked in Boots, Superdrug (although not huge branches) and some supermarkets.

Where do you get them from?

Yup, basically any test strip has got to have an area that's different to capture the dye on, so with enough squinting you will see indents on most tests (frers tend to look stark white, on IC you often see a very thin line next to the white indent, where the dye has caught, or you can spot it as a different texture, and CBs always seem to get evap lines as the test dries).

It will categorically not be the case that they've been withdrawn from sale due to evap/indents or "dodgy batches". I'm intrigued at what the reason is though - it can't be that they weren't selling enough 🤷‍♀️

1viewoftrees · 14/12/2023 06:56

They're very good but still have the potential for a visible indent as all pink dye tests do.

1viewoftrees · 14/12/2023 06:56

It just can't be possible.

Every test has an indent line, where the test would go pink if positive. This line will often go darker when urine crosses it but it won't go pink. FR have always had this it's not a new thing. There are threads from 2017 and earlier complaining about it.

If tests were being discontinued for false positives then Clearblue would be off the shelves faster than blinking. I'm amazed anyone still buys them.

Rosiiee · 14/12/2023 06:52

You can’t find them in ROI either. Boots pink test is really good though!

1viewoftrees · 14/12/2023 06:50

Proof?

1viewoftrees · 14/12/2023 06:49

I don't think this is true.

They've always had the potential for indents so why suddenly discontinue now.

RebelGirl823 · 18/10/2023 08:08

Boots own brand early detection red dye tests are bloody great in my opinion. I've only recently discovered them.

NinaGeiger · 13/08/2023 11:24

Thanks everyone for your info. It's really interesting about these problems and the decline in quality. I'm surprised there hasn't been anything written about it in the media

I'm glad they're discontinued, they're terrible at giving people false positives.
Why don't people just use easy at home? They also detect early x

RedPandaFluff · 08/08/2023 18:32

I started a thread about nine months ago as I'd had IVF, was obsessed with testing, and found the quality of FRERs had deteriorated massively. I ended up using Wondfos from Amazon and they were great. And soooooo much cheaper!

Jazsimone · 08/08/2023 06:25

We managed to get first response in March from Lloyds 6 tests (IVF) and they all had indent lines/false positives. I did have a picture but I deleted it because it upset me so much.

I am pregnant now and used the early boots tests.

bunnykins123 · 08/08/2023 05:45

Clear Blue have always been far worse than FRER for indents so this surprises me. I really hope it's temporary as I always found them really accurate!

Kellyaust · 08/08/2023 05:31

I had the evaps on these, both tests in the box!! Haven't used them since

Olika · 07/08/2023 21:43

Oh no I found them so good

faban · 07/08/2023 20:57

Boots early response are v good

pineflump · 07/08/2023 20:51

I stand corrected. Boots no stock and Amazon a week wait!

pineflump · 07/08/2023 20:50

Why can't I find any of these issues on google? I was led to believe FRER were the tests to get due to their accuracy? Per google boots and Amazon are selling them....

faban · 07/08/2023 20:46

I did a thread a while ago cos I couldn't find any. They are on Amazon but can't get them for about a week. Apparently they've been recalled cos of indents/evaps. Ive never had an issue tho

CR7 · 07/08/2023 20:24

@YoSof yes it is.

PointyMcguire · 07/08/2023 20:18

My BFP is currently refusing to go to bed, so definitely wasn’t a false positive 😂

I’ve always bought them from Amazon and a quick look suggests they’re still selling them. No idea what all the horror stories are supposedly about but doesn’t look like they’re recalled in the uk.

YoSof · 07/08/2023 20:13

CR7 · 07/08/2023 20:11

Fyi

That’s from the USA.

CR7 · 07/08/2023 20:11

Where do you buy First Response?
CR7 · 07/08/2023 20:10

They were definitely recalled. Perhaps the errors have been rectified and they have been redesigned?

curliegirlie · 07/08/2023 20:09

And how anyone can talk about FRER horror stories when this forum is jam full of CB evaps?!! (Possibly because no one can get hold of FRERs anymore 😂)

YoSof · 07/08/2023 20:05

They have not been discontinued and are one of the most reliable tests out there.
It was the fertility test that was discontinued.

My local Lloyds pharmacy stocks them, as does Amazon.
