Long story short I got my peak OPK on Thursday and think I ov’d Friday. Came on my period last night / this morning. What the actual hell? I usually have a regular 29 day cycle so really don’t know what’s happened. Deffo not ovulation bleeding it’s way too heavy…

Sorry for the late reply @Jenniferet I haven’t been on here in a while. Life is a bit crazy being pregnant and looking after a toddler, I’m shattered 🤣 how are you? How did your scan go? Xx

@katie416 thank you so much, your support means so much to me! It’s nice to chat to someone in the same boat! I ended up having the scan on Thursday because the bleeding continued (not lots but enough to notice) and had a very small clot so really worried. They scanned me and saw the gestational sac but nothing else. But when I came away from the hospital I remembered that I ovulated day 19/20 of my cycle so I actually think I’m only between 5 and 6 weeks. They tested my hcg from Thursday to Saturday and it increased from 6000 to 10500 so that’s a good sign. Another scan on Thursday where I’m praying we’ll see a yolk sac and fetal pole/heartbeat. The bloody CM has continued, just praying it’s the ectropion.

how are you getting on? How’s baby? Are you going to find out what you’re having? I’ll definitely DM you, I’ll work out how to do it first haha! Xx

katie416 · 22/10/2023 18:43

@Jenniferet Thank you so much 🫶🏼
This is my second baby and I also bled with my first! Although not as frequent as this time in the early weeks. I had a really huge bleed at 19ish weeks with my daughter, it was absolutely terrifying and before I was scanned they were sure I must have a low lying placenta, but nope, just the darn ectropion! I was on aspirin in that pregnancy though which definitely made the bleeding worse.
Always here if you need any support or have any questions! I’ll try and help the best I can. I think somehow you can private message if you ever wanted to chat 😊
How did your scan go? Really hoping you got good news xxx

Morning @katie416 :) aw I’m over the moon for you. I’m so glad everything’s ok and baby is growing perfectly.

I’ve just been to the loo again this morning and a bit more pink CM - god it’s SUCH a worry isn’t it. Your experience has really put my mind at ease though - praying all is ok. It’s just very light in colour so hopefully that’s a good sign. I still have all other symptoms and last night did another test which was BFP and came up straight away. I’ll keep you updated, thanks lovely for your support. I really appreciate it!

I’m 6 weeks, 1 day today. I read online bleeding is quite common from 6 weeks too. Yes it’s my first pregnancy and first baby :) what about you?? Xx

katie416 · 18/10/2023 17:50

@Jenniferet Exactly the same!! It was always mucousy or in my cm! Deffo had it after a bowel movement and also totally randomly, had it frequently up till about 10ish weeks and had it on and off a couple of times since. Honestly it’s been a right worry but thankfully everything was absolutely perfect at my scan today. Baby is growing beautifully 😍
I also had the cramps too, nothing major like I didn’t need to take paracetamol or anything but if I did it’d have probably taken the edge of. Just dull achey feeling like just before you come on your period. Think that’s quite normal, it’s all the growing and stretching and baby implanting. Fingers crossed your scan goes well! I really think it will all be fine. Easy for me to say cos if someone had said that to me a few weeks ago I’d have been like but what if it’s not. Please update me Friday 🥰 How many weeks are you? Is this your first baby? Sorry I can’t remember if you said xx

@katie416 thank you! I feel a bit sickly, sore boobs and tired. I had a tiny bit of blood today in my CM when I went for a BM so I’m booked in for an early scan on Friday. Praying everything’s ok. I’ve got some dull period cramp like pain too.

did you have anything similar?

how did your scan go?? Hope all was well, I’m sure it was! Let me know :) xx

katie416 · 17/10/2023 20:57

@Jenniferet Omg congratulations that’s amazing! Super happy for you 💕 How are your feeling?
My 12 week scan is tomorrow, I should be 12+5. To be totally honest with you I am absolutely bricking it but really hoping everything will be well, I had a private scan at 10+1 and all was good so fingers crossed. X

@katie416 same here! Years ago the gynaecologist told me they were common but none of my friends have one! So it’s nice to connect. How are you getting on?

Well the biggest surprise ever, today I got my BFP. I came on my period last Thursday (or so I thought) and it only lasted 2/3 days. I thought it was strange as it normally lasts 8 days. Anyway I did a test on Monday which was negative but today I’ve had 2 positives. Just waiting on my fiancée getting home from work to tell him! Eeek! Let me know how you’re getting on. I hope you’re well! It mustn’t be long until your scan!

@Jenniferet So sorry I never replied to your message, I didn’t see the notification!! Thank you so much for your well wishes ☺️ how are you getting on?
Completely understand what you mean about being able to actually speak to someone who also has an ectropion because it seems like it’s a mystical thing sometimes!! I tell people I have one (in context haha!) and they just look at me like eh? 🤨 ha. There should be support groups for this stuff lol but I guess that’s what mumsnet is for. Xx

@katie416 aw HUGE congratulations. I’m so happy for you :) it’s so nice to speak to someone who’s been through similar with the ectropions and stuff as it’s always been a bit of a worry. I’m glad they’ve checked you out and everything’s ok. I’m sure everything will be perfect at your scan. Haha I was thinking the same about too much baby dancing 😂 funny! I’ll definitely do a test around the same time you did, fingers crossed! All the best with your pregnancy, lovely lovely news!

katie416 · 25/09/2023 13:34

@Jenniferet Hi my lovely I’m 9 weeks pregnant now. I have actually had on off bleeding since 6 weeks but been checked by EPU, had some scans and they think it’s my ectropion, so just having to sit tight and wait for my 12 week scan now and fingers crossed everything will be good.
In my experience I think it was the ectropion that caused this ‘ovulation’ bleed, not sure if it was linked to conception or not or just overdoing it with the baby dancing 🫣 but definitely seems coincidental that I had this bleed within the 24hrs I think we conceived.
It was quite a bit heavier than the bleeding I’ve experienced while I’ve knowingly been pregnant but I haven’t actually dtd since this day and haven’t done anything really that would aggravate the ectropion so not sure what the bleeding would be like if I did if you get me 😂
I would maybe wait a week or so and do a test. I got my positive on 9dpo.
Best wishes, I hope you get the answers you’re wanting 🥰 xx

Thank you for this thread! It’s been so useful to read. I had quite a bad ectropion when I was on the pill (I came off a good few years ago), that used to bleed randomly and quite a bit throughout the month (after sex etc). It totally stopped after coming off the pill. We’re on month 2 of TTC, I have a 27 day cycle and got the solid smiley face this morning (CD19), we DTD this morning and also the previous few days but today I had quite a bit of bleeding which seems coincidental the day I’m meant to be ovulating. I’ve felt a bit sickly the past few days so I’m hoping and praying but this thread has given me hope. How are you all getting on?

Thank you both! 💖

@Absolutebeginners1 Ahh fingers crossed for you! What test did you use? Could you confirm with a FRER? X

Absolutebeginners1 · 14/08/2023 20:28

wow @katie416 congrats!! The heavy bleed I had last Tuesday actually subsided, my luteal phase is only 12 days normally so I’m due my period tomorrow. Normally at this point I would be spotting a lot so I tested and got what I think is a very faint line as well 😬

CJHR18 · 13/08/2023 11:14

Omg @katie416! Completely new to mumsnet so had to Google what BFP meant 🤣 Huge congratulations. I am so pleased for you! X

katie416 · 13/08/2023 09:51

So I have an answer, well kind of an answer… still not sure what the bleeding is but I’ve just got my bfp 🥹

katie416 · 09/08/2023 22:38

@Absolutebeginners1 They sometimes do but they can also come back even after treatment to get rid of them! I’ve had mine for years it was terrible when I was pregnant with my first constantly up at the hospital wondering why I was bleeding thinking the worst until I eventually found out what it was. I couldn’t even push the hoover round the living room without making it bleed. Then after I gave birth it seemed to go away!! But I had a scare again at the beginning of this year when I was bleeding after sex, went for a colposcopy and was diagnosed with it again, it’s honestly such a pain 😅 Mine gets worse around ovulation too, I think they’re caused by estrogen and that is high around ovulation so definitely makes sense as to why.
I know how you feel, it’s like you get your hopes up, really think that this month it could be it then see that negative test and it’s so disheartening. I never believe it until Af arrives but she always does 😂x

Absolutebeginners1 · 09/08/2023 22:09

Sorry it’s definitely from the front haha, I have had an ectroption in the past but I though they resolved themselves and this was about 5 years ago. Seems to always be during my LH phase! I can’t imagine how I’m ever going to conceive though, it’s fresh disappointment every month at the moment.

katie416 · 09/08/2023 22:01

@Absolutebeginners1 Blood from the front or the back when constipated? Sorry to be tmi 🤣 I sometimes get blood from the front as I have an ectropion on my cervix and it can be aggravated when constipated. So could be the same for you? If you’ve been ttc the bleeding could be because having sex has also irritated the ectropion x

OP posts:
Absolutebeginners1 · 09/08/2023 21:57

It started just when I wipe, although I also get quite constipated at this time of the month and there’s quite a bit of blood when I go to the toilet. But a lot less than a period. So frustrating! It feels like I’m on my period all the time!

katie416 · 09/08/2023 21:46

Aww sorry to hear that @CJHR18 ! I went to the doctors yesterday and she has taken some bloods and sending me for an ultrasound as I had a cyst in March and she wants to make sure it disappeared but she didn’t seem overly concerned, so just waiting for the blood results and the results of this scan after my appointment. My bleeding has completely stopped now and looking back I don’t think it was a period but not sure what it was. So strange. Wondering if it could be the ectropion on my cervix but I feel like there was too much blood for that 🤔 just so annoying when you don’t know what it is!!

Sorry @Absolutebeginners1 I don’t have any real answers yet but will post on this thread with any updates. How heavy is your bleeding, is it just when you wipe? How long are you cycles usually? X

Hello I think this has happened to me. I always spot before my period, sometimes 7 days before, but this month I’m only 4DPO and having quite heavy bleeding which is really worrying me! Did you get an answer on the cause?
