Clomid and twins

Hi,

New to this forum. I'm hoping for some guidance about Clomid and the possibility of conceiving twins.

I've had issues with fertility for over 5 years, just been diagnosed with a medical condition that can't be treated effectively while pregnant due to the nature of my condition.

My first pregnancy was high risk and needed hospitalisation 3 times.

The consultant warned me about the possibility of conceiving twins. I expressed, with my personal medical situation, I would not have an issue having twins and possibly prefer if I could have twins and then I'm done with pregnancies. (Don't worry I've done all the reading on risks and am not taking anything lightly)

Considering my consultant didn't express concerns with my preference of having twins (as long as it's not more than two in his opinion), I would like to ask if anyone has ever tried to conceive twins on Clomid? And what days you took it. I've been told day 2-6, and then scan to see follicle size etc.

Also, my partner is fully aware of this and onboard, as the thought of me going through pregnancy multiple times worries him too.

Any guidance/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks xx

Hey there, I totally get where you're coming from – I was in a similar spot not too long ago and ended up taking Clomid myself. I started on day 2 of my cycle and continued through day 6, and then had a scan around day 8 to check on my follicle sizes. I felt really hopeful about the possibility of twins too, and although every case is personal, I found that Clomid really helped kick start my body’s natural rhythm.

One thing I learned along the way is that it’s super important to use only high-quality Clomid (Clomiphene) for the best results. I order mine from a trusted online pharmacy curecarry.com/buy-clomid-uk.html and have been really pleased with the consistency and effects. Just make sure to keep your consultant in the loop and monitor everything closely. Best of luck on your journey! xx

@Thornberry1 clomid was not successful for me. I stopped it after 4 months as I was suffering from alot of womb problems since I'd commenced it.
I'm currently 5 weeks via ivf

Thornberry1 · 14/11/2023 12:56

Hello! Just wondered how you were all getting on?

I've just started my first course of Clomid. Think I've started a day early as my first AF day was super light, I then took the first tablet on 'day 2' yesterday, then today my AF has properly started. I go in for a scan on Monday so hoping it'll work.

Would love to hear how you guys are doing and hopefully your success stories x

Anyone actively trying for twins is an idiot. Having twins makes for much more dangerous pregnancy and birth and makes the early years unremitting hard work.

I wish you all good luck with your TTC but saying you know what you are letting yourselves in for is so far from really understanding what this means and the long term implications of your statement.

40smum23 · 29/10/2023 11:53

A friend of mine conceived twins on clomid 100mg days 3-7. My sister in law conceived twins while taking some natural supplement called cassava.
I'm not actively trying for twins but I have bought clomid (so can't advise you re-scans cause I don't have a specialist) but I'm taking 100mg this cycle using the theory that if I produce more than 1 egg it improves my chances of 1 of them being successful. But I am aware I could end up with twins.
We bought some 4 months ago and I got pregnant cycle 2 but I had a miscarriage due to fibromyalgia flare up. That was a singleton pregnancy. We have taken a few months break and this is our first month trying again.

Hi,
I took the first cycle of Clomid and ovulated.
two days before my period was due I started to spotting. I am thinking it’s the start of my period but now 3rd day of spotting and it never got heavier. Took pregnancy test all negative.

do I continue taking Clomid this cycle? Or could I be pregnant?

it is advised to stop Clomid if pregnant as it can cause side effects?

please help

@Huriya ah okay, my ovulation peak is CD11 so I most likely ovulate on CD 12.

I'm also trying to sway the gender and this could be my last pregnancy due to unrelated health problems, so I'm planning to follow the shuttles method for baby dance.

If I wasn't trying to sway, we'll prob baby dance a few times a day on the given days with shettles method.

My ovulation day is this Sunday. When is yours? I'm so excited and nervous, doing OPKs three times a day lol. I have the follicle scan arranged for Saturday (privately) as NHS couldn't get me in, in time.

I don't know how to check PMs on here, would love to talk on a more consistent basis on WhatsApp as it seems we're both ovulating similar days x

I ovulate around CD16/17 which is around Sat/Sun for me so our ovulation falls pretty much on the same day 😁.. we might have clomid babies together!!
How can you sway the gender? Could you explain the shuttles method for me please.

I have sent you a PM. You should have a notification x

Also would be nice to kniw wgere youre from x
Im from Birmingham :)

@onemonth I usually ovulate around CD16/CD17. Im checking my OPKs though. I think ive entered my 5 day fertile window today.
How often are you planning on Baby dancing? Were sticking to every other day and then once i get a peak them 3 days to do it daily. So the day before, the day of ovulation and the day after. But wel see how it goes.

onemonth · 08/08/2023 08:54

@MoonlightDreamer I'm sorry :( I hope your next cycles goes exactly how you want it to go :)

I'm thinking about arranging a private scan if the nhs don't do it for more than one cycles. I think it's around £150-£200, but I'll probably only do it once each cycle - possibly the day before I ovulate.

Really hoping I conceive this month 🤞

How you getting along with clomid? Has youe course for this cycle finished now?
Im just waiting for ovulation now 🙂

Thanks,

Taking my last tablet today. I've had a really bad headache since yesterday evening. But hoping it'll clear after tomorrow.

So excited for you Blush what day do you ovulate? I think I ovulate early (CD 12) xx

MoonlightDreamer · 07/08/2023 16:27

@onemonth I guess thats just how my local nhs work. Tracking scan is only for one cycle then your own your own.
AF arrived or me yesterday evening :(
Onto a new cycle. Switched up my days this month and took my first pill today cd2 instead of tomorrow

Yeah please let me know if you wanna connect on WhatsApp, would love join a group or individuals who are in the same boat. 💕💕

Have you got follicle scans arranged?

I havent got any follicles arranged. I do ovulate and everythings fine so really just taking them so I can fall pregnant as I havent been able to on my own yet.
I dont mind being added on to a whatsapp group. Feel free to PM me and il send across my no x

onemonth · 04/08/2023 19:49

@MoonlightDreamer it seems strange that they would do it for one cycle and not for the others.

Hoping you get the good news soon, would love to hear how you get on xx

onemonth · 04/08/2023 19:45

@KJ00 I think the later days are to mature the 1 or 2 follicles already developed enough, whereas earlier days are to trigger growth in general (I could be wrong)

Is there any difference really in the days you take clomid ? Like what's rhe difference between days 2-6 or 3-7 ? Would 2 to 6 have a better response ? Or does it matter . I'm on 3 to 6 and ovulating but not getting pregnant

Huriya · 04/08/2023 08:56

@onemonth Hiya, yes it is my first cycle currently on CD7 and todays the last dose of clomid then just waiting to do OPKs.
I havent had any symptoms so far tbh i have been pretty good. The first 2 days I got the slightest headache but nothing major. Deffo didnt need pain relief for it.

How you getting on? Its nice to have someone on a similar cycle and clomid too. Fingers crossed we get our Clomid babies 🤞💖

MoonlightDreamer · 04/08/2023 00:55

I was never told what size my follicles were and nhs only offered me one scan on my first cycle. They couldn't see a follicle large enough on my first round and more or less told me to judge it myself based on my bloods. Bloods came back that I did ovulate that cycle and because they couldnt see multiple follicles growing , i wasnt at risk so after that they were just happy to let me go off and complete my course without any further monitoring.

Second cycle , I had a scan done through my appointment at fertility clinic. I mentioned I'd had a positive opk that morning and he offered to scan me there and then. He was able to see a follicle but he did say it looked a bit abnormal.

On my third round I've had absolutely no scan. I paid for a private blood test and it came back that I hadn't ovulated as it was under 30nmol/L however I've had a distinct tempt rise so I'm assuming I did ovulate. I guess I'll see in a day or two as AF is due this weekend.

onemonth · 04/08/2023 00:24

ChoresSuck · 03/08/2023 23:27

I had no scans. I had to have blood test at day 21 and I called up for my results every month as it was clearly working. The first scan was around 12 weeks as standard.

Ah okay, my day 5 and day 21 bloods show normal. They think I may LUFs, due to some Perscription medicines used long term to control my condition, may be that's why they're offering the extra scans

Hiya, im currently on clomid 50mg days 3-7. Im on day 4 today so tomorrrow will be last day. Fingers crossed I conceive this month. Im greatful if I conceive the one baby but im not going to lie I would absolutely love to have twins!!
Clomid increases your chances of ovulating and also hyperovulating so it does increase the chances slightly of having multiples.

Hey,

Is it your first cycle? I'm cd2 today so excited and nervous to start the Clomid journey. Are you getting many side effects?

Good luck btw, hope you have your bundle of joy soon xx
