Light periods since d&c

i had a d&c in May. Was almost 13 weeks. I’m so worried as my periods seem so much lighter since. I’ve always had heavy periods. Got first “period” 28 days later and was really light, more like spotting and started off dark but then did go to red but only needed a panty liner. Next period came 27 days later and was light again, the same but didn’t start off with dark. Following period was light too like spotting and more pink and seemed almost diluted if that makes sense. I had my lining checked last month at it was only 5.4mm at day 16. I’m so so worried about Ashermans. I saw dr lower last week on day 4 of this cycle and he scanned and said I seem to have a normal uterine cavity and that I would come back on 7th aug to check mid cycle lining. Has anyone else had this and did it resolve on its own. I also haven’t had any pmt before my periods where I always used to get this. I’m so so worried the surgery has wrecked my womb. I’ve had 3 pregnancies in the last 10 months but only had d&c for this last one and my periods are so not right. Thanks in advance x

@InNeedOfSleepNow have you had any luck ttc? What was your experience after the procedure at your scan? What was your situation when you saw him? Sorry for all the questions xxx

I paid privately. I’m almost a week since coil came out and I will go back for a scan 2 weeks after my natural period, so in about 5 weeks time I guess. I’m still so frightened it hasn’t worked and I won’t be able to conceive or carry. I want this so much 😔xxx

My BUPA health insurance paid most, so I paid £800 - everything else was covered.
I think paying privately is maybe £4k-£6k, I’m not sure….
but worth it x

Yes unfortunately if you don't have private medical insurance you pay. It's not cheap (all relative I know) but if you can find a way he's worth every penny. We were really honest with him that we were stretch in every way possible seeing him. He was brilliant and didn't do anything unnecessary to make it possible! X

How did you get to see Mr Lower? Did you just pay to go privately directly?

@Tryingsohardalways Ive just stumbled across this thread and I just want to say, sending you lots of love!! I also had Ashermans after a D&C (diagnosed in March, op with Lower in April). It is an exhausting journey but like @InNeedOfSleepNow said, it’s not the end of the world, especially as you’ve done the right thing and seen the right doctors.
I actually conceived two weeks after having my coil out (my uterus was 60% scarred before) and I’m now 17 weeks pregnant. And I’ve met others who had the same after seeing Lower ☺️ so there is hope!! He put me on progesterone after ovulation and up until 16 weeks so worth asking if that is worthwhile for you. He did it for me because I had a short luteal phase. Good luck x

Had my surgery a week ago today. I have the coil taken out on 18th September then a scab two weeks later to see if it’s worked. Operation said right side was obliterated by adhesions and there were adhesions on the cervix but excellent cavity afterwards. Trying to stay hopeful but so frightened and upset too about how things will heal and if my womb will be too damaged to carry afterwards. This is so hard

Just seen me lower again today. I have Ashermans. He said it’s not too bad, like a 5 out of 10 with 10 being severe. I’m booked to have surgery on 21st august to try and clear the adhesions. I’m trying to stay hopefully but feel very sad with this today x any success stories very welcome x

@Tryingsohardalways so sorry to hear of your loss. If it makes you feel any better my periods have been much lighter since my MMC in may. I normally have heavy and long periods but they have been really light and short since and I didn't have any medical intervention. I have booked myself on with the fertility specialist at my local doctors surgery to see if there's anything to be worried about as I thought it was strange too x

InNeedOfSleepNow · 07/08/2023 07:33

Good luck today OP!

Tryingsohardalways · 31/07/2023 09:39

Thank you. I’ve become so depressed since as Ive convinced myself something is really really wrong, it’s all I think about at the moment. So frightened. I’m hopeful things will be ok. I didn’t know if the lack of sore boobs and pmt before my period would suggest it’s more hormonal but I think that’s just wishful thinking. It’s going to be a long week just waiting for the appt, I want it to get here but I’m afraid at the same time x

OP, I'm so sorry for your losses. They're so hard and feel so much worse if you've then got the added stress afterwards of feeling like your body is not quite right.
I had the same after a D&C and knew something wasn't right. Mr Lower was my saving Grace. You really are in the best hands. I did have Ashermans and needed surgery but Mr Lower worked his magic.
We have 3 children because of him.
Asherman's is an exhausting hurdle but can be just a hurdle.
I understand your worries but please be assured it's not the end of the world. Let's hope you get more answers at your next appointment. Best of luck!
