I have a 2 year old and looking to start TTC later year. I made great friends on here last time when trying to conceive in 2020 so thought I would start a thread for anyone who is trying to conceive whilst looking after another child (in my case a toddler ekkk)

@KM8 have you input your fertile days? Normally apps work on the length of your cycle and then take the middle number as your ovulating days. Mines can be anything from 3 to 10 days out which would mean I'd miss it altogether if I didn't test to check x

KM8 · 16/09/2023 08:24

I have a couple of different apps for tracking ovulation....even though they all have the same cycle data, they are all saying different ovulation windows by a few days.

Does anyone else have this?

Confusedddddddd · 15/09/2023 20:18

Does anyone else have superstitions (not sure that's the right word), as in thinking if it worked the first time it'll work this time? I'm only 2/3 dpo so very early in the 2ww and keep thinking back to the heatwave we had 1st round so should keep warm, and things like I went skating at 7dpo so maybe I should aim to do that, I also got very drunk at a wedding so here I am with a glass of wine.

RedRobyn2021 · 15/09/2023 19:43

@Bubblesandtroubles no AF still not here it's quite late now but I think that's because the chemical has messed up my cycle, I have resisted taking another test today, it just makes me sad. I'd rather wait it out for AF. Hope you're doing ok xx

@TheDuchessofDubai oh sorry also didn't mean to ask about the gory details! I guess I'm just not super clued up about TTC, on cycle 5 and feel like I'm forever finding out new things.

Just to be clear, does the enjoyment of sex by the man impact the amount of sperm produced? Not that I'm forcing my husband and I do hope it's still enjoyable for him... but we sometimes have the 6am 'come on let's do it quick before DC wakes up! Shhh quietly! Let's do it fast!' type sex

No I don't think so. Scientifically it's about a sperm meeting egg and plenty of people get pregnant after non consensual sex, poor things, so I don't see how that can be the case.

@TheDuchessofDubai sorry please can you explain about quality? Are you less likely to conceive if it's rushed or not being enjoyed, or is sex just sex?

Not what I meant. Just didn't want to go into gory detail about the end of my shag...

Bubblesandtroubles · 15/09/2023 16:06

@TheDuchessofDubai it does only take once though so you're not out yet!
I'm still very much AF spotting every time I go for a wee. Can feel it's just around the corner.
Agnus Castus does not help with PMS I can confirm 😩 so double whammy of being gutted we are another month away from a BFP whilst also feeling dreadful and right through the wringer on top 😔 xx

TheDuchessofDubai · 15/09/2023 13:33

Hi all, another month of trying and another one where DH went away the exact day I ovulated... sigh. We managed it once the day before but it wasn't quality as it was 6am and we had work/nursery run to get to but it's something I guess.

Now 6 dpo.

Yesterday I had shivers and was cold all evening (even outside in 34 degree heat when taking dog for a pee I was wearing a jumper and not hot) and today I randomly had a dizzy spell when i sat down on a chair, so something is going on. But tbh I dont feel pregnant at all so I am almost 100% its not happening again this month. Last time I just knew so quickly because i was really tired and just had a feeling...

Ergh anyway - DH promised not to go away next month so patiently waiting for AF now and hoping she comes early so we can try again. Hope all of you are doing well...

Bubblesandtroubles · 15/09/2023 11:56

@RedRobyn2021 any sign? I woke up feeling dreadful and like AF is so close I could practically explode but hadn't arrived as of last time I checked.
Did a CB about half an hour ago. Negative in the 3 minutes and a tantalising evap line when ive gone to put it in the bin but definitely an evap and way outside the timeframe. I know they're notoriously bad but nothing but clear blue available in the shop near me so just had to go with it.
Very much think AF be here by the end of the day but, if by some miracle it isn't, I think I'll stop at boots later and get one of their tests for the morning.
Sending hugs and good luck to everyone. Xx

Confusedddddddd · 14/09/2023 22:13

Please can I join? DD is almost 18m. Fell pregnant accidentally in May but lost it as was ectopic. Currently 2dpo and it's our second cycle.

RedRobyn2021 · 14/09/2023 21:45

@Bubblesandtroubles same for me. Might feel better once it's here because at least the wait will be over.

Bubblesandtroubles · 14/09/2023 21:33

@RedRobyn2021 I'm really down tonight too. No official sign of AF just yet but I've got all the tell tale signs that it will appear by morning.
So I've been eating my feelings tonight 😥 xx

RedRobyn2021 · 14/09/2023 21:31

I'm thinking of buying some ovulation tests, are they fairly straight forward to use?

RedRobyn2021 · 14/09/2023 21:30

Feeling sad that is not happened again this month, after my chemical last month I hoped so much it would be this month.

FirstTimeMumma2021 · 14/09/2023 21:22

@Twdfn123 congrats! I totally get it, I booked one as early as I could with my first. I'm on some medication that ours me at a very slight higher risk of certain conditions so I couldn't rest til seeing all was okay x

@SunnyHana congratulations!! 🎊

Mummysparrow · 14/09/2023 20:12

Congratulations to the positive tests 🎉
@Chocolatehobnobs2948 I get ovulation pains from one of my ovaries but not the other which is really odd. When I cam off the pill in 2020 it really caught me off guard as I didn't know ovulation pains was a thing.
I am starting my ovulation tests this month to make sure I am ovulating when I think I am. Although part of me is ready to start trying now, I am holding of another month or two so I can attend a wedding in June which is in Cyprus.
My sister and my mum only need to miss a pill to get pregnant. I conceived 2nd month with my daughter but I dunno if we will be so lucky this time around.

So think i am officially in the TWW for first month of actively trying ever and feeling nervous. My family are the sort that conceive first time every time. it's a bit of a joke that our husbands just have to look at us and we are pregnant. But my husband has low fertility (cancer) and DD was a bit of surprise baby whilst doing IVF so never really tried to conceive before.

I've gotten this fantasy in my head built up now about getting pregnant this month. And having another girl. and i am so scared i am going to have serious gender disappointment though i know i would love them no matter what the sex. We've picked the name and i just adore the girls name. and keep fantasying about it.

I am so scared i am going to be disappointed

SunnyHana · 14/09/2023 17:03

@Twdfn123 i also want to book an early scan, exactly the same reasons as you. Can’t imagine going to 12 weeks without something, need the reassurance before I get ahead of myself.

thanks @deliwoman1 and @Bells3032 all a bit surreal at the moment (not helped by being in the south of France)!

an0uschka · 14/09/2023 15:45

hello! Hope it's ok to join!

I'm 28, husband is 36. Low motility, low morphology but normal count. We have a 19mo old. In the TWW of cycle 5 and I'm getting so deflated each month at the BFNs. We conceived DC in cycle 1!

Chocolatehobnobs2948 · 14/09/2023 15:42

@Bells3032 Fingers crossed for this month! Hate the 2 week wait but have booked a beauty appointment and massage to take my mind off it.

Twdfn123 · 14/09/2023 15:37

deliwoman1 · 14/09/2023 14:57

Congrats @Twdfn123! I've had one that early but just to make sure baby was in the right place due to previous ectopic. You wouldn't be jinxing yourself. Are you anxious or just excited to see?

I just want to make sure it's a viable pregnancy really. I've also had a blighted ovum and without the early scan I never would've known so I find them quite helpful. And I'd rather know early if it's not progressing so I don't get ahead of myself! I know things can go wrong after an early scan but I don't think I could make it to 12 without knowing if we're on the right track! Xx

Twdfn123 · 14/09/2023 15:35

Bells3032 · 14/09/2023 15:09

@Twdfn123 I would as they get booked up. usually you can cancel with 48 hours notice

I've just booked it :) x

Bells3032 · 14/09/2023 15:29

@Chocolatehobnobs2948 mine too! got my positive yesterday morning so it was fun times last night. We did intend this morning too but our DD had other ideas and decided to wake up early
