I have a 2 year old and looking to start TTC later year. I made great friends on here last time when trying to conceive in 2020 so thought I would start a thread for anyone who is trying to conceive whilst looking after another child (in my case a toddler ekkk)

Sorry to hear about your miscarriages @Savvy21 hope you get your bfp soon. If you have been trying for over a year I would go to the GP asap as they can takes ages to put referrals in.

@2020newbie I had a darker than normal ovulation test but I wouldn't say it was positive. But I have never had a positive ovulation test. Even when I fell pregnant with my little one I didn't get a positive then. I think my surge may be very quick and I don't catch it

Savvy21 · 14/07/2023 06:13

Hi, I'd like to join. Being trying for a year and a half now with two mcs in between - one mmc and the other self resolving ectopic. Dd is now 3 so will be 4 if we are lucky enough to catch again. We are going to wait until September and then see the gp. I track resting heart rate. Does anyone else? I've confused it though by dieting so it's all over the place haha.

december2020 · 13/07/2023 22:35

Can I join?
DS is 2 and we're thinking about starting TTC for number 2 in autumn.
I have suspected PCOS with irregular cycles and it took about a year to conceive DS so I'm not sure how it'll take but fingers crossed it won't take too long.

2020newbie · 13/07/2023 21:46

@PerfectPairOfPlums how frustrating for you, did you get a peak ovulation?

PerfectPairOfPlums · 13/07/2023 21:35

@2020newbie nope, they have been regular around 28 days since I got them back after number 1, until this cycle. It's like my body is trying to trick me

BirdIsland · 13/07/2023 18:35

AF arrived this morning so onto the next cycle! Bit fed up, DP said yesterday "how come Boris Johnson can make kids so easily?!" and I totally get his point, it's very annoying 😫

2020newbie · 13/07/2023 18:29

@PerfectPairOfPlums oh no do you usually have such long cycles?

RichTeaCheddars · 13/07/2023 17:46

@PerfectPairOfPlums yes, I feel like that too. I like to plan things and know what's going on. But pregnancy and babies aren't like that. It's really difficult.

@Saucepot1985 👋 fingers crossed it goes well for you!

@Mummysparrow hehe,.thanks 😋😋.

I hope your sister is able to get some medication to help give her some relief.
I'm short too, had a lot of pain in my ribs last time as they were expanding.

PerfectPairOfPlums · 13/07/2023 16:08

Ooo very exciting @2020newbie

I am still in limbo. No AF and no BFP. Day 57 of this cycle

2020newbie · 13/07/2023 16:06

Af arrived right on time officially day 1 cycle 1 🤞🏻

Mummysparrow · 13/07/2023 10:30

@RichTeaCheddars I love your handle name 🤣
My DD has just turned 2. I was lucky as I didn't get much morning sickness but my sister is currently pregnant and she has got hyperemesis gravidarum and has already had a few hospital admissions. Hopefully you don't get it with the next pregnancy. Instead of sickness I got indigestion a lot and back and hip pain most pregnancy (I am short and the bump was big). I was at my osteopaths office every 4 weeks to keep me mobile

Hi 👋 I'd like to join please. Looking to start TTC late this year or early next year. My DD is 3.

I had hyperemesis gravidarum in my last pregnancy so I need to speak with the doctor to get a medication agreement in place.

I'm also suffering with chronic back pain and I'm worried pregnancy will make it worse. Had an MRI and nothing structurally wrong.

Aw this is the same as me. My DS is 3 and want to start trying at the same time 😀

PerfectPairOfPlums · 13/07/2023 07:25

@RichTeaCheddars fingers crossed you have a better pregnancy this time.

I feel so out of control with TTC. I like to be able to control everything and be prepared for everything but babies just don't let that happen so i think it makes me more anxious. That's probably why I'm having a really long cycle this time as my body knows

@Saucepot1985 oh no. Are you medication and have they said if pregnancy will affect it? I have just turned 34 and I feel like there is a ticking clock, even though I have been told I am still young (I don't feel it 🤣). I think I will try for a year and if it doesn't happen I will be one and done as I have always given myself a deadline of 35. I know many do it but the sleep deprivation really affected me at 31 so I dread to think how it will affect me if I left it another few years.
@BirdIsland of course you can. How old is your DD? Do you monitor ovulation etc?

Yes been on medication for a year and it’s recently been lowered and I am back in range. Pregnancy could affect it or could go the other way and stay stable due to pregnancy lol. My consultant was reassuring and said it’s only an issue getting pregnant when it’s uncontrolled, then it’s extra monitoring etc during pregnancy. No I hear you, I had my son at 32 and the sleep deprivation knocked me bandy, must be mad thinking I’ll handle it better potentially 4 years later haha 😂

BirdIsland · 12/07/2023 21:21

Did a test today @PerfectPairOfPlums and it was negative, which was what I expected given my temp.

I've been monitoring ovulation but actually didn't this month, just relied on BBT and got a rise when I expected so ovulate so pretty confident on timings. I'm 12DPO now.

For those worried about age, I do get that. I had my first at 36 and she was a horrific sleeper. But, I got through it and I'm sure I can do it again at 40+. Obviously it's personal choice but I don't think I feel much different now to when I had DD so I would say not to worry too much about specific cuts offs, age-wise.

Have you done any tests @BirdIsland ?

Saucepot1985 · 12/07/2023 19:55

Hi all, I also want to start trying for baby number 2 in the Autumn. I wanted to start trying last year but unfortunately got diagnosed with Graves disease and was really poorly. So now I am balanced out I want to get cracking as my DS is 4 in December and I am 36 this year. I am feeling quite anxious about it already 💛

BirdIsland · 12/07/2023 19:43

Hi, can I join? No idea what cycle I'm on, I've lost count but been trying for well over a year. I'm 40+ so time very much not on my side but tests have come back fine for me. Already have one DD who was conceived first cycle, so the difficulty this time round has been a bit of a shock.

AF is currently 2 days late but my temps are way down so I'm assuming she's on her way and has just decided to mess with my head this month 🤯

PerfectPairOfPlums · 12/07/2023 19:23

The uncertainty is really hard. Fingers crossed it doesn't take too long for all of us

Mummysparrow · 12/07/2023 18:35

So many messages today, yay!
I haven't started the TTC journey yet as I have a few things coming up such a gut microbiome test (which I need to not be pregnant for). I was originally planning to start last month but putting off to next month. I say I am going to do a relaxed approach but I bet after a few months that might change.
I was 31 when I conceived my daughter on the 2nd month but I don't feel like I will be so lucky this time. My mum and sister have great fertility so I may be worried for nothing but my cycles are about 6 days longer then pre child now. Plus I was on medication before for a hormonal imbalance which can also has a use for fertility purposes. It was only a small dose but I don't know if it helped. I am not longer on the medication as pregnancy actually put that condition into remission. I feel really pessimistic and I haven't even started trying yet 🤦
The only thing that helps is that my daughter sleeps really well most nights so at least we have time to BD 🤣🤣
Not sure if I have word vomitted there 🤣🤦

@Optimistic66 I know what you mean. My little one is so possessive if my husband even touches me and joins us in bed most nights so there isn't much time

Me - also had a 2020 Baby in December :)

I've been trying for a while and no luck - and am having a wildly long cycle for me (normally cycles are 28-35 days) but i havent even ovulated this cycle and im on CD24 - completely forgot how not fun this part is!

Also BD with a toddler who wants to constantly crawl into our beds at innappropiate times.... and 'my mummy' when we even have a kiss.... oh dear.

2020newbie · 12/07/2023 14:41

@mumsince2021 yeah must be a different one. I was due mid December 21 but little boy had different ideas and came mid November so he’s one of the oldest from that group now.
