I have a 2 year old and looking to start TTC later year. I made great friends on here last time when trying to conceive in 2020 so thought I would start a thread for anyone who is trying to conceive whilst looking after another child (in my case a toddler ekkk)

Thank you @deliwoman1 that's very kind.
Sorry to hear you're feeling low, TTC is such a rollercoaster of emotions

Throwawy · 26/07/2023 17:23

@deliwoman1 oh wow I'd never heard of para-ovarian cysts before! Lovely to hear from others who've had ectopics and conceived as I'm quite worried about having another. Mine was self resolving too for about 2 weeks, hcg went from 2000 to 400 then one day it ruptured.

They advised to remove it due to size, though I declined up until the ectopic, as it didn't cause me any pain or symptoms. However during the ectopic they couldn't see anything due to the cysts being in the way, even when I went back in when it ruptured they still couldn't see it, and couldn't see that I had a litre of blood in my pelvis. My consultant who I saw because of them in my first pregnancy who was lovely ended up being my surgeon and an hour before surgery she came in and suggested we remove them at the same time, which I agreed as if this happens again I don't want to be left in PUL limbo again. She also reckons it'll get that ovary working again which I'm not convinced of.

@PerfectPairOfPlums Promised DP we would wait until day AF due if it doesn't show. Early testing kind of helped me manage expectations last time we ttc (I was right about each pregnancy that didn't stick), but it didn't do much for my anxiety and he really didn't like the approach. Trying to respect that, but the temptation will be enormous next week!

deliwoman1 · 26/07/2023 16:41

@2020newbie That's frustrating. Are you testing more than once a day? I know peaks can come and go very quickly for some of us. You might just ovulate a little bit late this month. Our bodies do love to mess with us when we most need them to be reliable.

deliwoman1 · 26/07/2023 16:39

@Throwawy Welcome! I'm sorry to hear of your ectopic. It's hard and so unfair. I had one myself when trying for DD, and it was scary. I was very lucky that mine resolved without intervention. I know a couple of women who lost a tube and then went on to conceive naturally, so there's definitely hope.

I just made a post about having a cyst. Got a 6cm one that's 'para-ovarian' so, originating from the ovary, but next to it now in my uterus. GP couldn't tell me for sure if it will affect implantation. Got to wait for Gynae word on that. I'm 4DPO today, so I guess we'll see in 10 days. 😐From what I've been led to believe, once you've healed, the ovary should be fine. Did they remove them because of the size? Hoping for a swift recovery for you. x

@ReginaPhalange12 I'll have my fingers crossed for you this month! I realised that September is probably a non-month for me, as DP has to have minor surgery, right around ovulation 😑

Other than that I'm feeling a bit low. We gave it our best shot at the right time, but I'm finding ttc hard to process atm. Maybe it's the reality of starting this journey again, which was so painful and anxiety-inducing for us last time. Still, I have lots to keep busy with so that's good!

2020newbie · 26/07/2023 12:50

I’m in my fertile window but have no idea what’s going on opk is still faint, all apps are saying ovulations tomorrow but have zero sex drive which is the opposite of how i usually am during my fertile window

PerfectPairOfPlums · 26/07/2023 12:28

Interesting. I've never really noticed pain on a specific side, will see in a week or so if I can tell

Throwawy · 26/07/2023 12:24

PerfectPairOfPlums · 26/07/2023 11:35

How do you know which side you have ovulated from @Throwawy ?

I get pains, also called mittelschertz. I always have for some reason, some people just do apparently.
Funnily enough, when my left ovary was still working I used to get them stronger on my good one and so I thought that one was dodgy for years. I was quite surprised when I fell pregnant with my first and they told me my left one had a 10cm endometrioma on it and therefore I wouldn't have been able to get pregnant from that one.

ReginaPhalange12 · 26/07/2023 11:47

@Throwawy I had cysts found when I had my ectopic too although they had gone when I went back in 3 months later.
I've heard about it still picking up from the other tube. It can definitely be worrying but there are so many people who have gone on to have subsequent pregnancies with no issues. Good luck with your TTC journey

ReginaPhalange12 · 25/07/2023 22:24

Sorry to hear about your ectopic @Throwawy, I had one before I had DC (I didn't have surgery though) and had to wait for my numbers to fall +3 months, luckily we conceived DC shortly after the 3 month wait, it's always at the back of my mind though

Thank you, it's lovely to hear from people who have successfully conceived after ectopic.

I'm stressing out about it a lot mostly because I had a bunch of cysts removed from my left ovary at the same time which I haven't ovulated from
In the last year and my right tube removed. I've read that when you only have one tube it will still pick up an egg from the other side a third of the time.
Luckily after surgery they said my remaining tube looks healthy though they had to remove some endometriosis from the outside, and the ovary they removed the cyst from looks healthy and they reckon will start working again once healed but I'm not convinced.
The ectopic was an accident - we weren't planning on trying for another until next year, but we're now trying earlier because of all this, and being 37, if we do eventually have to go down the ivf route better do so sooner rather than later.

Bells3032 · 26/07/2023 08:28

Good here. just had last non TTC ovulation. my husband is so excited not to wear condoms anymore after this weekend haha (giving a few days leeway). I am a little anxious. I have never done the TTW before as never actively tried. We said we are gonna give it 6 months before going ahead and using our IVF frosties.

PerfectPairOfPlums · 25/07/2023 23:37

AF just finished and I'm away without husband for the weekend so should be back just in time for ovulation at the start of next week. Then it will be a long TWW. When are people testing?

ReginaPhalange12 · 25/07/2023 22:24

ReginaPhalange12 · 25/07/2023 22:21

1DPO here & I have a feeling it's going to be a long TWW. I've already thought ahead to next month (ever the optimist!) and we'll be away when I'm ovulating & sharing a room with DC so if we're not successful this month we'll probably have to put it off until September ☹️

Throwawy · 25/07/2023 20:24

Can I join? DD is 15m.

We're starting next month. Sadly last pregnancy ended up ectopic and had surgery 3 weeks ago, so just waiting to heal a bit first. Desperate to get trying again!

2020newbie · 25/07/2023 20:08

How is everyone?

PerfectPairOfPlums · 21/07/2023 10:07

Thank you @deliwoman1. Fingers crossed for you. I always say I am going to wait until AF is due but it is so hard!

deliwoman1 · 21/07/2023 08:38

@PerfectPairOfPlums Oh I’m sorry. Sending you lots and lots of luck for next cycle. My LH is on the rise and I’ve had some ovulation symptoms so I guess I’ll get my peak today or tomorrow. I plan to hold off testing this month until AF is due, or at least I plan to try! Now the TWW is almost here I’m already itching to know. 😂

PerfectPairOfPlums · 20/07/2023 16:51

@deliwoman1 AF arrived this morning. Can't even remember what cycle day I was up to so here's to this cycle! Need some baby dust. When will you be testing?

deliwoman1 · 20/07/2023 16:41

Is anyone approaching testing day this cycle?

deliwoman1 · 20/07/2023 16:40

@heybb Welcome, and I'm sorry to hear about your chemical. I hope you're okay. Good luck for August!

@swirly3468 Oh it's so nice to be reminded that the good times do outweigh the bad!

I'm trying to be positive and think of all the things I did love about being pregnant and caring for a newborn. This week I felt myself getting really low about the possible hard work to come, and then I realised how sad I'll be if I don't get to do any of it because I can't conceive. So I made a little list of baby things we'd need to replace/don't already have, and took a look at our old list of baby names. I felt a glimmer of excitement, which was nice. Back to being pragmatic and somewhat pessimistic now though! 😂

@Bells3032 Oh yeah, that's one of my fears too. DD gave us a run for our money with sleep, but I'm petrified of having a very high needs baby, and feeling ragged and guilty for all the time I wouldn't be able to give to DD. I truly envy the parents who don't worry about this stuff!

@PerfectPairOfPlums Seeing them develop their personalities is one big plus to hang on to! I'm finding it fascinating and really magical with DD.

heybb · 19/07/2023 11:40

Morning everyone.
Can I join in?
We have a 2.5yr old DD and TTC our second. We had a couple of unsucessful cycles early in the year, then took a break and had a chemical at the weekend. Think we'll try again in Aug.

Baby dust to all 💕

PerfectPairOfPlums · 19/07/2023 08:56

I know what you mean @deliwoman1. My 1st was so difficult and it really was harder than I ever imagined. I couldn't put her down for the first 6 months. She wouldn't go to anyone else etc so I can almost guarantee that the second can't be as bad as my first 🤞

I did say to someone that if I could skip to 18 months I'd have another one instantly. But I know I'd miss the good parts of having a newborn, even if it is the same this time round. I have been on the fence about having a second due to this, but I know deep down I'd love to have another and see how different their personalities become.

Bells3032 · 18/07/2023 15:17

@deliwoman1 I feel you. We were v lucky with no 1, even though she arrived a bit early, she was healthy as a horse and never had any feeding or sleeping issues and slept through early. So worried the next one will be a nightmare!! also my anxiety was awful and always checking on her to check she was breathing etc but looking forward to being pregnant even less. I hated being pregnant. the exhaustion, the anxiety and anticipation. and now to do it again with a toddler euch
