I have a 2 year old and looking to start TTC later year. I made great friends on here last time when trying to conceive in 2020 so thought I would start a thread for anyone who is trying to conceive whilst looking after another child (in my case a toddler ekkk)

I am so confused as I am on day 12 but I think I have just ovulated really early as I had thick mucus yesterday.
I am not starting to try this month so not too concerned but I will be if things continue like this. I will be using ovulation strips when we do start

@RedRobyn2021 I heard it's worth trying straight away but not had a chemical myself so not sure

RedRobyn2021 · 16/08/2023 20:09

Anyone know if it's ok to try again asap or if I need to wait a little while after the chemical pregnancy?

RedRobyn2021 · 16/08/2023 20:09

@PerfectPairOfPlums congratulations!!

deliwoman1 · 16/08/2023 19:51

@Throwawy it does look like yesterday was your peak, but that still leaves tonight (and tomorrow to be safe)! I’d keep testing just in case.

Throwawy · 16/08/2023 17:13

Congrats @PerfectPairOfPlums!

Throwawy · 16/08/2023 17:12

Do you reckon I could have missed my peak yesterday? I had an almost peak at 8pm.

PerfectPairOfPlums · 16/08/2023 09:01

Thank you @deliwoman1 still early but now want to surprise my husband with the news

deliwoman1 · 16/08/2023 08:58

@Mariex1989 I haven’t used wondfos but I do use easy@home ones. In my experience, I’ve never had so much as an evap on those internet cheapies so if a faint line popped up in the time frame I’d be inclined to think it’s positive. At 8dpo it’s possible but very early!

@TheDuchessofDubai welcome, and good luck! When you do plan to test?

I’m CD13 today and usually ovulate CD15/16/17. I have a feeling it’ll be either earlier or later this month as my period was a bit odd, and I’m worried as DP is definitely coming down with the nasty cold I’ve had! We’re away for two weeks as of Fri and I have a big work deadline so I’ll be testing when I get home.

deliwoman1 · 16/08/2023 08:49

@RedRobyn2021 & @Twdfn123 so sorry, that’s very hard. I am sending you so much luck for next cycle.

@PerfectPairOfPlums congratulations and very best of luck to you!

PerfectPairOfPlums · 16/08/2023 06:46

Sorry to hear that @RedRobyn2021 and @Twdfn123. It's definitely hard when we test early as we wouldn't have known otherwise

I got my positive this morning at roughly 12dpo so fingers crossed it sticks

Twdfn123 · 15/08/2023 12:59

Sometimes I think these early detection tests do more harm than good. I would never have known just assumed a late, heavy period. Sorry you're going through it too.

Good luck going forward, hopefully it happens for both of us xx

I agree with you. I was just walking my dog and thinking, I wouldn't be so sad today if I hadn't taken that early test.

Good luck to you x

Thank you but I'm just going through an early miscarriage. Hopefully next time 🥺

Good luck to you xx

Me too as of this morning.

Feeling very disappointed but want to get on and try again asap.

I'm going to wait longer before testing next time I think, I took an early test and I regret it now.

TheDuchessofDubai · 14/08/2023 14:58

Can i join? Been trying a while for number 2 but nothing happening. On 5dpo of yet another cycle.

Mariex1989 · 14/08/2023 14:30

Does anyone have any experience with testing with wondfo cheapies?
I’m 8 dpo (probably too early to test I know) and just had an urge to test now and got the faintest of faint lines x

deliwoman1 · 13/08/2023 17:49

@Twdfn123 oh I’m so sorry. Sending hugs. xxx

Congrats @Twdfn123 @WolfMother326 and @RedRobyn2021 ! Wishing you all happy , healthy pregnancies!

I’m CD9 today so will start the OPKs again tomorrow probably. I’m feeling really wobbly about having another this week. I’m sick with a horrible cold and totally sapped of energy so that doesn’t help, but all the reasons NOT to have one have been piling up on me. Everything from financial strain and insecurity, which I’m really worried about, to possible issues with mine or the baby’s health.

Anyone have any tips on how to work through this as ultimately it comes down to whether I’d regret it if we didn’t try, and I know I would.

Mummysparrow · 11/08/2023 22:42

@Throwawy my periods stopped at 16 and started having milk production. I never got weight gain but I donk think I ever got a huge prolactin level and half a dose of Cabergoline did the job for me.
I had to fight to get an MRI and prolactin levels checks (as I had a Google and came across prolactinoma so I thought that was what it was) they never check any other hormones and continue to not test anything. I haven't even had my prolactin levels checked in over a year. I have considered getting my levels checked privately. I have vitamin and iron deficiencies since have a child though which I never seem to be able to get on top of.

Throwawy · 11/08/2023 21:35

@Mummysparrow it really does. My main issue is weight gain. When I came off it for 6 months I gained 4 stone! During pregnancy for the first half I lost weight as I think my hormones somewhat balanced out. I was back as pre-pregnancy weight a week after giving birth, then I gained 2.5 stone without changing eating habits. Start Cabergoline again and I'm back down 3 stone in 6 months. High prolactin is known to cause weight gain but it's crazy how much of a difference it can make without changing eating habits. When I move been losing I've actually been eating more as it's freaked me out how quickly it comes off.

When I've stopped my periods remained regular though. Have you had your hormones tested in any way? Before I was diagnosed my estrogen was literally 0. I didn't have periods at that point. Before my last pregnancy though I forgot to take it for at least a month and still got pregnant (accidentally).

Mummysparrow · 11/08/2023 11:16

@Throwawy oh really? Does the medication help keep things at bay?
I tried coming off Cabergoline back in 2017 and although my prolactin levels remained low my periods stopped. I came off Cabergoline once I became pregnant and thankfully never had to go back on it. However I was never able to breastfeed as it caused issues with my supply. Prolactinomas are known to cause issues with supply so I was prepared for it thankfully.
I have heard Cabergoline can be used for fertility so I am a little worried that it helped me get pregnant laste time and that I will have issues this time around. I won't know until I start trying.

Congratulations @RedRobyn2021 your hormones will be all over. And we have an inkling what's to come after the first time around so no wonder you're nervous - especially when you had a tough time.
Doesn't mean the same will happen again though.
I hope you have an easy pregnancy this time round! 💕 Xx

Throwawy · 10/08/2023 20:43

Congrats @RedRobyn2021!

PerfectPairOfPlums · 10/08/2023 20:22
