I have a 2 year old and looking to start TTC later year. I made great friends on here last time when trying to conceive in 2020 so thought I would start a thread for anyone who is trying to conceive whilst looking after another child (in my case a toddler ekkk)

Hope everyone is getting on OK. I'm only CD3 & this will be my 3rd month trying, it happened the first month last time so I naively thought we'd be as lucky again, I'm finding the BFN and arrival of AF so disappointing but know I have to be realistic in that it usually takes longer. It's probably a blessing it didn't happen for us this month as my DD would've been around DC birthday. Sending baby dust to all ✨

Twdfn123 · 30/08/2023 14:14

I'm trying again after my chemical pregnancy last month. We've DTD 4 times in our ovulation widow, so hopefully we've caught! fingers crossed to everyone else xx

KM8 · 29/08/2023 19:57

My cycles are so irregular so not quite sure where I'm at in the current cycle.....I usually had 30/31 day cycles when I wasn't on BC.

Since stopping the pill my cycles have been around 36/38 days...according to a 31 day cycle I'm in the fertile period but feeling as though AF may be arriving sooner....feeling bloated, crampy and back ache.... 😫 going to try to stay positive and continue DTD.

Good luck to everyone else trying this month!

Mummysparrow · 29/08/2023 19:33

I am on count down to AF again. It always come around quick when trying and the cycle is always slow when trying 😂 currently on day 24 so it could be here in 5 days or 10 days. Let's see how kind it is feeling 😂

BFN for me. 😕AF due Sat but I’m definitely out. Good luck to everyone one else giving it a go this month!

Bells3032 · 29/08/2023 16:23

My period arrived today. Ah well I didn't feel it had taken. Thankfully my cycle was a bit longer this month at 26 days as opposed to the 24 days of the previous two. I didn't really expect it this month. It was was bil wedding in baking hot south of France when I was ovulating so not much of a time or mood to do the deed. This month we are getting dooown. Lol

deliwoman1 · 29/08/2023 14:53

Hi @RedRobyn2021 ! Wishing you the best of luck for this cycle. Feeling hopeful is a great way to begin this rollercoaster process again! x

I'm 10dpo today. Currently en route home after being away for a couple of weeks and I don’t feel positively about testing. I’ve had no symptoms aside from a dicky tummy due to overindulging on Indian, and feeling a bit period-y a couple of days ago, which was probably either progesterone or my imagination. I couldn’t feel less pregnant if I tried. 😔

AF due Saturday. I have a big work deadline on Thursday so really torn over whether to test tonight or leave it until Fri. Slightly worried about the disappointment distracting me.

I’ve been pregnant a few times and have always managed to get a bfp by 10dpo. I need to take progesterone suppositories so the earlier the better, I guess. Hard to decide. 🤔

RedRobyn2021 · 29/08/2023 12:36

Finally started trying again the last couple of days after my chemical pregnancy, really hopeful.

How is everyone else getting along?

ReginaPhalange12 · 23/08/2023 12:09

@deliwoman1 last month I had every symptom going... and got a BFN!

deliwoman1 · 23/08/2023 09:49

I had one hell of a low mood yesterday - super tearful. Must be progesterone related. It coincided with DD's first major tantrum too so that was fun!

4DPO today. We're away and I've got a big work deadline so that's keeping me from overthinking, but I'm so aware of how 'normal' and not pregnant I feel right now. I know it's too early for implantation, but I feel so bloody ordinary it's like I can't even imagine having any symptoms!

ReginaPhalange12 · 23/08/2023 00:04

@Bells3032 we only managed to DTD once too, early ovulation & away (and sharing a room) with DC meant we didn't have the opportunity. Good luck over the next few days / week ✨

Bells3032 · 22/08/2023 19:48

So I am officially in my first ever TWW. gosh I'm so nervous. I think we only dtd once in my fertile window to be honest. Since we were in the south of France in the 35 degree heat with no air conditioning and our 18 month old in our room..so wasn't exactly romantic. Wish me luck

ReginaPhalange12 · 22/08/2023 19:43

@FirstTimeMumma2021 I understand. I tried to find the IC pregnancy tests I had when I got my positive last time, I can't find them & was really disappointed because I was successful that time 🙈

sunflower1988 · 22/08/2023 10:18

Hello! I'd like to join too if possible! Also have a 2 year old and TTC ,on our 5 month of trying and getting nervous about the whole thing! Xxx

SunnyHana · 21/08/2023 21:02

Hiya, could I join?

TTC baby no. 2 and also have a 2 year old. This will be our third cycle (af came 2 days ago 🙃). Would be nice to have some ttc buddies!

FirstTimeMumma2021 · 21/08/2023 20:01

@ReginaPhalange12 thankyou! I'm using clearblue tests ... very daft theory but fell pregnant on them first time last time so figured why not do the exact same thing lol 😆

ReginaPhalange12 · 21/08/2023 16:40

Welcome @FirstTimeMumma2021 I've used IC OPKs and they've always been pretty accurate, I think I got 50 for £5, I also use Easy@Home, Amazon have offers on quite regularly & you can use the Premom app to scan them.
Wishing you lots of luck ✨

FirstTimeMumma2021 · 20/08/2023 22:30

Hello 👋
Just thought I'd jump on as also made some friends on here when I fell pregnant with my first in 2021 who is now 2 as well @Mummysparrow 😊
We've just started TTC baby number 2, quite excited but in a different way this time and already forgot how expensive ovulation tests are when you're irregular as hell 😳
Hope everyone is doing okay x

deliwoman1 · 20/08/2023 08:55

@Mummysparrow hard to be confident with the expired tests, but they probably still work fine. If that level seems right for you, that's good. My levels really spike then plummet - so easy for me to actually miss it altogether!

I'm 1DPO today so officially back in the TWW. Here we go again! 😅

Mummysparrow · 19/08/2023 12:23

I have ordered some more easy @ home tests as the ones I have are now out of date. I did try one of the out of date ones this morning and got a 0.29 which to me suggests I haven't ovulated as I had thought and it might be on its way up which makes more sense as I am day 14 today

ReginaPhalange12 · 18/08/2023 20:24

@Mummysparrow I got my peak yesterday, 3 days early so completely caught me out. I've never been 14/28 days but have been very regular (for me) for ages but since TTC my body is doing some strange stuff.

Mummysparrow · 17/08/2023 15:39

Yeah I think I may buy some more as I think the ones I have left from 2020 are now out of date.
It has come and gone so don't think it was an infection but I will keep an eye on it.
I miss the pre child days when ovulation was day 14 and period was day 28, so straight forward

deliwoman1 · 17/08/2023 15:15

@Mummysparrow Was the mucus like egg white? Sorry if tmi, lol, but if not it could be something else like a very low level infection maybe? Sometimes exercise can do it too, I think. I wouldn’t worry yet, as the OPKs will give you more to go on. Probably a good idea to get going on those before you start ttc though so you can find out what’s happening.

deliwoman1 · 17/08/2023 15:09

@RedRobyn2021 So long as you’ve totally stopped bleeding and spotting (due to risk of infection), it’s fine to begin again. Sad as it is, I think you count the first day of your chemical bleed as the first day of your cycle and go from there. Your cycle may be a bit different so I wouldn’t wait to ovulation test once a day, and would increase to twice a day as you approach your ‘normal’ fertile period. It’s also recommended to make sure you get a negative test, so that you know for sure it’s a new pregnancy. xx

PerfectPairOfPlums · 17/08/2023 11:56

I would try ovulation tests before you start trying so you can gauge your cycle better
