Hi I'm brand new to Mumsnet. I'm 26 TTC for first baby, been trying a couple of months, was on pill for 8 years before this so appreciate it will likely take some time. Found waiting for af a bit tough last month, tested a lot. I know most people have much longer waits before positive test but would love to share the journey with others. Hope this is the right forum for this!

@Poppins2016 DTD the day before you Shiism still be covered. Those little swimmers can last up to 5 days I’m sure, my own logic in my head tells me that the day before is probably better, they’ll get right up the fallopian tube ready and waiting for the egg. That’s just in my head and not from any science!
fingers crossed for you x

GHJ · 26/07/2023 09:14

@Poppins2016 I keep reading swimmers can live for up to 5 days so if you dtd day before ovulation there's still a really good chance! Fingers crossed for you on your tww!

TTC is so frustrating! We missed yesterday (which I'm pretty sure is the day I ovulated) due to DH being unwell... Hoping that the day before (got peak OPK in the morning) will make up for it as the egg will probably have 'expired' by now if it's not been fertilised! I'm desperate for an April due date for various reasons (I know, I know) so it's super frustrating.

ReginaPhalange12 · 24/07/2023 23:16

@Poppins2016 you're right. I was really down over the weekend thinking I'd missed my chance this month, thank goodness for OPKs!

Poppins2016 · 24/07/2023 14:06

@ReginaPhalange12 brilliant, that sounds very hopeful! 🎉 I think the apps can be great, but you definitely can't rely on them 100% (when it comes down to algorithms vs biology, biology seems to win in this case)!

ReginaPhalange12 · 24/07/2023 13:33

@Poppins2016 I am finally getting a darker line & a high on Premom 🎉 my app's are 4 days early so I'm glad I've been testing and not just relying on them

ReginaPhalange12 · 22/07/2023 20:43

I am on CD12 today, Premom says predicated ovulation was yesterday but no peak tests. I have a shorter cycle of 24/25 days. Im not sure if I missed ovulation (although I have been testing 3x a day!) or it just hasn't happened yet. Flo has predicted ovulation on Tuesday so I'll keep taking the tests for another few days and will keep my fingers crossed.

I would use apps as a guide (I use fertility friend for BBT charting and find it pretty good), but don't rely on them too much. Cervical mucus and LH tests will often tell you much more about your fertile window than an app can... if I relied on the app alone, I would have missed my fertile window this month (just got peak LH on CD22)!

ReginaPhalange12 · 23/07/2023 21:32

@Mrsttcno1 I do mine at around 10am / 3pm & 8pm. I did read that 2 are recommended but I missed mine last month so I'm a bit OTT this month

CatiaR · 23/07/2023 19:58

yeah weeing more often too even though I don’t drink nearly as much as I should 🙈

this is only our first and also first cycle so not truly expecting to be first time lucky but who knows! Fingers crossed you get good news soon!

Ecgx · 23/07/2023 19:37

I honestly find it so hard it’s like your mind can’t stop thinking about it! Yes I’m the same keep thinking no I won’t test early etc! I think I will test next weekend so it’s at least 10-12 dpo feels ages away though 🤣 yeah they says tender breasts is deffo a sign! The cramping and pulling is unusual for me and I’m weeing loads but it’s probably unreleased and I’m just reading into to it! I hope you get your positive ☺️

CatiaR · 23/07/2023 19:33

@Ecgx i know right it’s terrible! I got about a week left to go and going nuts!

managed to fend off testing as of yet but not sure how much longer 😂

definitely had some symptoms I’m not used to as my boobs are really sore, got a massive headache today and some slight cramping on and off so hopefully its good signs.

fingers crossed for you!

Ecgx · 23/07/2023 19:30

Guys why is the tww so bad 😩 it’s barely even been a minute since ovulation and I already feel like I hate the wait!! And the symptoms I feel like I have such bad tummy cramps and pulling in my uterus and I am like 4/5 dpo at most so I don’t know if it’s in my head 🙈

Hi, just out of curiosity if you do 3 OPK tests what times do you do them at? I have just been testing once a day in the afternoon and it’s only when I saw your post I’m now thinking should I be testing more so I don’t miss a peak? X

Ncl31 · 23/07/2023 09:28

Hi all, joining here if that’s okay. I’m kirsty, 32 with PCOS.
Came off depo October 2021. No positive tests for us, but had had very irregular cycles, the last 2 months have been the most regular. But we actively avoided the fertile window as we got married early July. Fertile window was towards the end of our honeymoon - lots of DTD, we used the Fertilily cup a few times and once when I removed it there was blood stained fluid, so hoping that was ovulation. I’ve not actively tried OPKs for months because I was so frustrated from the irregular cycles making it difficult to track.
Currently around 6DPO, have a full ache in my lower abdomen this morning. Whilst this is the one thing I’m desperate for and hoping for a BFP if this isn’t our month I won’t be super sad as we are going to Florida in September and I want to be able to enjoy the rides.

How is everyone doing?

Disneydreams26 · 23/07/2023 08:44

Hi all,

Joining this thread very late in the month but I’m CD8 today and it’s our first month ttc#1. I can’t believe that this month we will be trying properly!

I stopped taking the pill 1.5 years ago so I could track my cycles before getting married. I plan to track my ovulation using ovulation tests and I have a thermometer for BBT too, along with allll the apps! We’re going to try the SMEP this month.

Feeling a bit anxious about this journey but I need to stay optimistic and hopeful that it will happen ✨ Wishing you all the luck for BFPs very soon!

I have a question if anyone knows the answer. 14dpo and negative test today so thinking im probably out this month but…

clearblue ovulation test gave me a peak fertility result. DTD that day and next. About 5 days later I got what looked like implantation bleeding (mucusy plus brown, only when wiping). Didn’t have this with my DD but thought might be a sign.

obviously now I’m thinking if that had been implantation I would be getting a positive test by now. Does anyone know if clearblue ovulation tests can give you a false positive? Wondering if what I thought was implantation was actually ovulation 😵‍💫 I’m so confused. Have felt sick, boobs are sore and easily a cup size bigger, skin breakout, headaches, heavy feeling in abdomen etc so starting to wonder what’s happening.

thanks x

Belle199 · 22/07/2023 11:59

I’m on CD16 and got a smiley on the ovulation test this morning which is slightly later than the apps were suggesting and I was about to stop testing!

Poppins2016 · 22/07/2023 11:52

Oops. Finger slipped before I was ready to post! Re-try...

It's CD21 and I still haven't ovulated... cervical mucus is alternating between creamy and egg white, LH tests are getting stronger but I've had no peak and BBT is also yet to confirm. I'll be gutted if this turns out to be an anovulatory cycle (PCOS) as I had (unreasonably) high hopes for an April due date!

Poppins2016 · 22/07/2023 11:50

moosey89 · 20/07/2023 22:06

@DHB not quite the same as yours but I usually have a pretty consistent 4-5 day period, last time I got pregnant I had a 2 and a bit day period, only 2 flashing smiley days on the clearblue before getting the static smiley, and only DTD once, 36hrs after the static smiley! Sometimes these things don't seem to make any sense 🤷

Ttc2n · 20/07/2023 17:11

Also joining this month.
Had a late miscarriage in January. Ever since I've had irregular cycles.

I should be ovulating this week but ovulation tests still have a faint line. But Dh is totally on board this month which gives me a bit of hope for a positive pregnancy test.
Now I'm just hoping for some good news this year! Fingers crossed for everyone this month 🙏

Mrsttcno1 · 20/07/2023 16:17

Hi everyone! Hope it’s okay for me to join! Currently ttc#1, feel like we’ve been waiting so so long to start trying I can’t believe I can finally say we are trying!

Currently on cycle 1 & using OPK’s to see if I can pinpoint ovulation after coming off the pill.

good luck everyone, hopefully we all get our BFP’s soon 🤍

MrsBmaybebaby · 20/07/2023 13:34

@CatiaR thanks, glad I’m not just imagining it! So continues the waiting and the peeing on sticks 😵‍💫

GHJ · 20/07/2023 12:58

Thanks lovely ladies for your tips on ovulation testing. I expect I'll have loads of questions when I start next cycle! Still no AF I think I might have been a bit eager seeing a pattern after coming off pill, last cycle was 29 days so thought that was my new normal but I don't think I've had enough cycles to actually see a pattern yet. Now on cd 30. No AF and no signs of her either. Actually sorry if tmi but don't think I've really had any ewcm this month but seemed maybe slightly like it last night, obvs ridiculous on cd30 but dtd just in case haha. Still bfn on tests this morning so pregnancy shouldn't be why no AF unfortunately. Anyone else with irregular cycles had success getting pregnant and how do you start planning and when to ovulation test etc if no regular pattern? I had lots of testing when I was younger and do not seem to be pcos etc. But I guess things can change!
