How are you ladies getting on ? I'm due to start stims next week. I'm not going to lie, I'm absolutely terrified. I had a lovely scenic hike on Sunday and did an acupuncture session yesterday. I'm trying to do as much as possible to relax and take my mind of it. I booked in for some reflexology tomorrow evening. If anything this experience has prompted me to take better care of myself

hennie222 · 03/10/2023 11:04

@niknaks37 As others have said, might depend on what's been done already. For me was transvaginal scan, and bloods for AMH, and referred me for HSG to check tubes open. Lots of questions about background, and they sent DH for another semen analysis (at a different lab....... to really inspire confidence in the system!) .

MK85 · 28/09/2023 23:06

@niknaks37 at first appointment they just did a bmi check and asked some questions. You won't be asked for SA since he's already done that. They might take bloods, depending on whether or not you've already had those done. Possibly a scan although I never had a scan done at my first appointment

Ladies I just received a letter today for the gynacology referral, all the while waiting to hear back for results of OH semen analysis. Please tell me what happens at the gynacology appointment? GP has not explained and I have no idea?

Have you had a transvaginal scan yet ?
If not - most likely one of those

Ended up moving work trip, (for non-conception reasons!), so here I am at 1dpo, with some chance we could conceive this month.

Husband: "so that'll probably be mid-June mat leave, hmmm when do you think we should sort nursery places..."

The confidence of this man! I love the optimism, but talk about jumping the gun....

This is hilarious!

Hi all. I'm 39 and TTC baby 2... can I join, 1dpo 2ww starts tomorrow, but I won't get too excited as my chances are slim with PCOS and low progesterone too. I'm new here and spotted the title and thought that's where I belong 🙋 hope everyone is doing well x

Jak803 · 23/09/2023 20:39

@MK85 i’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling with all this, it’s understandable. It must be hard to surrender the process over to the medical path after trying for so long. But it may well save a lot of heartache in the long run.

Try not to dwell on the other avenues you might have taken. Even though it’s hard, ruminating over what could have been or what else might have worked might drive you a bit mad in the end. I know how desperate we all are to feel like we have some bloody control over our fertility and what a nightmare it is. You’re doing brilliantly. When it gets overwhelming, try and focus on the present moment, or do some grounding exercises.

Wishing you all the luck on your IVF journey!

MK85 · 23/09/2023 18:54

How are you ladies getting on this weekend?
I'm currently 3dpo .. I ovulated on cd 15 naturally on my own this month, without the help of clomid. I'm not going to lie, I was really devastated as my body is finally doing what it should and we've had to call it quits. No intercourse without protection for the next few months. I'd really have loved to give it one last shot as I think it would have been the best shot naturally we've had in a long time.
I'm due to start meds on Monday.
We went to collect them on Tues and forgot out photo IDs, so we had to make the 2 hour journey this morning again to collect them. The huge bag of drugs is insane.
I had a little breakdown during the week as it hit me this happening. I'm terrified of the process

Serendipity2023 · 23/09/2023 12:30

9dpo over here 🙋🏻‍♀️ and doing everything and anything I can to keep myself busy ...so desperate to test 😅

Went to the gym at 8am, 2 x loads of washing done, posted Vinted parcel, food shop, cleaned kitchen... need to fill my afternoon now.

Anyone else in the TWW hell?

Jak803 · 22/09/2023 09:20

@40andtrying1 I’ve been trying since January, but had a MC the December before. I think it took a while for my body to shed everything.

FWIW, this was the first cycle I completely cut out alcohol and took starflower oil. Maybe a coincidence but who knows!

I’ll keep you updated on any news, good or bad. Hoping for more BFPs and positive scan news here soon.

40andtrying1 · 22/09/2023 09:17

Congratulations!!!! 🌸
How many cycles did it take? Give us hope! 🙂

Jak803 · 22/09/2023 09:09

@Serendipity2023 @Cinai thank you both!

Serendipity2023 · 22/09/2023 09:09

Morning ladies. So I’ve woken to this. Have felt awful all week. Huge boobs, nauseous and heightened sense of smell. Thought I was imagining it all. I have just turned 43, so this comes with a litany of risks. So to any folks who’ve recently tested positive… let’s breathe through this phase together.

Knowing there’s a 40% chance of MC and all the rest, it’s likely I could just get my period in a week… who knows. But this is a good step, and a possible step. Hoping for more good news from you all soon.

@Rusticanella keeping all thoughts strong and positive for you! ✨✨✨

I imagine it’s a whole new world of worry and anxiety after the long awaited BFPS. It’s so hard to just wait and see, and I’ve been there with the continued testing post-BFP, analysing the lines etc… your little bean might just be developing at their own sweet pace. Please keep us all updated, we’re rooting for you and your bean!

Rusticanella · 21/09/2023 15:24

Thanks all. Just as much as I am hoping all is okay, I'm also hoping that once given the okay I can relax and enjoy it. Really affecting me at the moment, work is a battle. I feel like I just want to lay in dark room and cry!

Thank you all for your support. Such a nice group of strangers 😂😂

Hi all,

Just checking back in. Everyone was so nice to me on this thread when trying to conceive. Now 5+2, and struggling really barley with anxiety an worry. Have booked a private scan for next weekend and had a private blood test last night to check HcG levels. Seems to be triggered by not being able to produce 3+ Clear Blue test and pretty much a loss of symptoms after a week of bloating and cramping.

I have convinced myself I've had a MMC, even though there isn't a lot of evidence to back that up. Just wish it could be easy like how it seems to be for some people. Was stressed over TTC and now it feels so much worse as if I lose the pregnancy have to go back and do TTC stress.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, wishing the rest of you all the best x

I've had miscarriages and a successful pregnancy and at 5+2 they all felt the same. I don't think you can really analyse this early based on symptoms. Try and distract yourself as much as possible until the scan next week. Fingers crossed it's good news x

Cinai · 21/09/2023 13:36

Hi @Rusticanella It’s so hard not to worry…I had some symptoms early on, but this week I feel pretty normal (apart from insomnia but this could be down to anxiety) and also very energetic which is weird. I’ve also booked a private scan for next week. I just try to distract myself and I didn’t even do any more tests….I think the best we can do right now is to live our lives, and whatever will be, will be…I occupy myself with meeting friends, going to theatre and museums and light workouts. Wishing you all the very best and I hope your scan will be positive news! ❤️

Came on here to give you all an update in case this helps anyone else trying to get NHS funded IVF...

So brief summary for reference, trying for ~4 years from age 35. Took a while to get seen at GP due to factors (me being slow/COVID/GP being slow). Had some preliminary tests in Aug 2022 (aged 37) but then got PG in Sept so all testing/referral put on hold. PG ended in MMC in Dec 2023. Tried again for 6 months with no joy so went back to GP who referred to Gynae. Now had numerous test (more bloods, HSG etc) with no obvious cause identified.

However consultant has said the NHS in this area will not fund IVF unless you have been trying for 2 years post MC. So basically the clock gets reset. I will be 40 at the 2 year point, but apparently because I was referred before I was 39 (which is now the cut off here) then I might be able to get one round on the NHS if needed (apparently I shouldn't have even been referred until the 2 year point, which would have made me automatically too old to be referred!). Consultant advised to go private ASAP if I possibly can.

So anyway, upshot of the story for my fellow oldies.... get referred as soon as you possibly can. I'm now seriously considering trying to find the ££ to go private. On the plus side, some of the tests I've had on the NHS won't be needed again so that will help.

Edited

Sorry to hear this

Thanks 4 sharing

I shared your post with my parents today

We conceived 2nd month trying but was then an early miscarriage

I have that early miscarriage @ approx 36 years 9 months old.... on my NHS record

I dont really have money 4 private ivf although my parents might help - hoping might get one NHS IVF round if needed

Guna try again asap ..

I know miscarriage is common for first ever pregnancies
And can now ask 4 progesterone fast should i bleed next time

Sending you all the good luck vibes

So much about the system is frustrating & illogical
