TTC February 2024 babies

Starting a thread because I don't see another one yet - I guess it is early for the potential Feb babies!
I'm on CD6 of 2nd cycle post miscarriage/6th month in total, ttc #2, due date would be around 2 February if we're successful this month.
Last month I was way too obsessive about testing, this month I'm really going to try to not let it take over my life - but let's see where I'm at in a few weeks' time. It's a busy month for me with a big work trip just after my fertile window then a family holiday when af is due so at least the tww shouldn't be so much of a drag.
Anyone else early in this cycle who will be trying for a Feb baby?

@Ladyinpink1 It worked for all my friends who seem to get pregnant in seems like minutes 😁hoping it works along with fertility lube I bought 😁

Ladyinpink1 · 24/05/2023 09:51

@L0uise35 I haven't experienced implantation bleeding before, but that sounds promising! Hopefully you see a bfp very soon!

@Mangotango39 sounds like you are well covered. And feel silly with me because I did legs up after this cycle too 🙂

Ladyinpink1 · 24/05/2023 09:48

@Hankthehonk Will you get a home testing kit to check it out then? I know, I feel the same as you, obviously I really hope to get a bfp but at the same time I feel like it's never going to happen.

I am getting on ok, I am 7dpo according to my bbt and bfn today, which I know it's still early days but then my tender breasts have now started which I always get at this time in the days before AF so it's making me feel that I am probably out (my preg last year didn't get sore B's until after AF was due) but will continue to hope and torture myself with testing 🤣

Hey, so I think I got my ovulation dates mixed up. Af was 7th may and I am usually 28 day cycle so next AF is due 4th June meaning ovulation would have been 21st/22nd. However on the 15th I had ovulation symptoms but thought nah can't be. Now I have just been to the loo ( sorry tmi) there is a very pink slime/discharge, I've been an emotional wreck all day and I have had twingey cramps - could it be implantation.

Do you track at all - sounds like it could be from my very limited knowledge 😁

Mangotango39 · 24/05/2023 06:04

Peak finally showed up - CD21 - so bloody late!!!!
Period now predicted 7th June I'm usually 12 days between ov and period so may be sooner (or not at all hopefully 😁)

will DTD later today when dp gets home and have covered quite alot of the window - fingers and toes crossed .

feel so silly with my legs up afterwards 😁

@Ladyinpink1 Thank you, that was thoughtful of you. That's one I hadn't come across so I'll check it out!
The low progesterone thing seems to fit with a whole range of causes and symptoms but I know I shouldn't be too over zealous in self diagnosing!
Uncertainty like this just makes it feel like pregnancy will never happen, doesn't it?
How are you getting on this cycle?

Hi @Hankthehonk that is quite a drop, I had a few cycles where my bbt was all over the place and it was quite stressful so I understand how you are feeling. I did some Google searching for you and it came up about a "secondary estrogen surge" that can cause a secondary bbt dip sometimes for a few days. maybe if it goes up tomorrow that could be what it was? x

Hankthehonk · 23/05/2023 21:04

@winterbabyrose The tww is torture! Good for you giving yourself parameters but also don't give yourself a hard time if you don't stick to it. I hope you can find things to enjoy to keep you distracted from symptom spotting and counting days!

@Ladyinpink1 My temperature dropped almost a whole degree - it was at 36.5 and dropped to 35.7 (this is from my watch, oral testing is slightly higher temps but same decrease ratio). I thought it might be an implantation dip on the first day but it has stayed very low for 3 days now. So there's no way I can be pregnant.

I think I might have low progesterone. I know that my cycles are more regular and I feel much better in myself when I'm not stressed, doing exercise and eating right, which is all consistent with low progesterone. The low temps fit with that too. It's upsetting that just one week of high stress (unavoidable as it was work related) and not doing the right things (admittedly I could perhaps have tried harder) has affected me so much. I'm now not even totally sure I ovulated last week.

I'm looking into at-home hormone testing kits as I'd rather know for sure if this is the cause.

@winterbabyrose I’m the same with testing! Got a box of cheapies and evidently can’t help myself even though I know I’ll just be disappointed

Ladyinpink1 · 23/05/2023 19:11

@winterbabyrose you are not alone, I do the same, I feel like it might be an addiction 🤣 I feel so helpless in the tww just waiting that it's like testing gives you something to do lol x

Ladyinpink1 · 23/05/2023 19:10

@Hankthehonk Sorry you have had a stressful few days wondering what is going on, how much lower did your temp drop than what it was? Sometimes knowing too much is more stressful isn't it x

winterbabyrose · 23/05/2023 15:17

CD15 today so now into the TWW😫I think I am 5dpo but not 100% sure. I'll probably 1 early test around the 1st at CD24 but if not then I'm going to wait and see if AF arrives or not on the 5th... I tend to get quite obsessed with early testing so I've given myself strict instructions to just do the one and then if BFN to just wait😂 I am the most impatient person and this TWW always feels so much longer than just two weeks.

Fifii · 23/05/2023 13:27

@teaontap21 oh wow! I knew it could be quick but I didn’t realise it could change that fast. I had no ovulation symptoms either (until the last couple days - from about CD25 so very late) so that’s throwing me off as well.

I wonder how many conceptions are just straightforward. I feel like my AF symptoms and ovulation symptoms change all the time now I’m ttc!

teaontap21 · 23/05/2023 09:43

@Fifii sorry I missed the last bit of your post! Yeah sounds like a late ovulation but that's great you have had the positive test for it so you know for sure. :)

teaontap21 · 23/05/2023 09:41

Welcome @Fifii! Yes you have likely been missing the surge. I didn't realise how quick it was until I did the ovulation sticks this month and tested 4 times a day when I thought it was near. It was barely a line for days and then suddenly Saturday morning went a little darker, by midday went positive with a dark line, then by dinner was back to a faint line. I couldn't believe how quick it came and went, so you've very likely just missed it with the morning tests.

Fifii · 23/05/2023 09:07

Hey all, I’d love to join in! Currently in my 8th month of ttc and today is CD27.

im not sure how many dpo I am because my cycle has been all over the place. Didn’t get a positive OPK at all (though I’m only testing once a day - recently found out it should be twice during fertile week!) so there’s a chance I missed the surge.

however the last couple days I’ve had some Ewcm and one v dark OPK and one positive OPK so who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ perhaps very very late ovulation?!

so lovely to see at least one bfp in here so fingers crossed for some more!

hopefulsquirrel · 23/05/2023 07:47

@Hankthehonk I’m sorry to hear that, I don’t know anything about temping but am still crossing my fingers for you.

8 DPO here. Feel a bit sick this morning but I think it’s largely wishful thinking / all in my head.

Hankthehonk · 23/05/2023 07:38

@Floralsandsmiles Sorry you are struggling. I'm afraid I don't have any advice about the ivf options but that insurance model certainly sounds interesting. Let us know what you find out as you investigate further. The whole situation sounds really frustrating, I feel for you 💔

My update...
After thinking I was in with a chance this month when i had spotting at the right sort of time for implantation, my hope is fading now as my bbt has been low for 3 days. I temp in the mornings and also have a Samsung watch that tracks skin temperature and while the exact temperature differs between the two, both are really low and the pattern is the same. I don't know what's happening with my body 😕 maybe af will show up early but for now the spotting has stopped.

Thanks everyone for your comments back today. I'm looking into them all and thank you for the time you took to respond xxx

Floralsandsmiles · 22/05/2023 10:10

Aww no, don't be sorry @hopefulsquirrel ! I'm justing making sure I haven't missed anything and I have never seen anything like this on the market to compare it too. Thank you for making me double check though xxx

So this is the link I was looking at earlier: https://www.accessfertility.com/patient-faqs/

Don’t know any more than this but it says they refund if you’re not successful.

Hi ladies, hope you are all well?
I'm struggling abit at the moment and trying to work out a plan through it all.
I posted on another group before on this option but now I'm considering it more and more.
Have you all heard of gaia?
gaiafamily.com/
So you find a local fertility clinic and get a quote based up, they work it on your age and bmi and any issues identified etc. Then they give you an insurance premium to pay each round. You pay this and then all other IVF fees and medication is paid by them direct to the clinic. You are insured for 6 rounds or less (individual dependant) and only pay back the fees accrued when you have your baby (this can be in installments and over up to 8 years). If you have all rounds fail that you are insured up to, you pay none of the ivf fees back and you will have only paid the insurance premium each cycle...
I'm 36 in a few months, DH has had sperm analyse and all is A'ok. However I spot up to 6 days sometimes prior to AF for no reason. My scans have come back OK with functioning ovaries, no cysts and fine endo lining. Bloodwork has been fine aside from low iron and high testosterone. I am taking a supplement for the iron and lost 22lbs in 6 weeks to kick start a healthy bmi and this should lower testosterone. However if it doesn't, there is nothing they can give me to level hormone imbalance, other than contraception!!! Because that would be a fertility referral and we don't qualify as both DH and I have a DC from previous relationships.
All of its exhausting and I'm thinking gaia maybe the best option as then they can help me with medication too. Plus we are trying naturally but ultimately if it's an imbalance with no medicine, chances are it will be near impossible to conceive the doctor said. She actually said that as I fell pregnant 12 years ago on contraception, the contraception probably helped level my imbalance of hormones and assist with conception!!
What are all your thoughts on this option? Xxx

Hey, I listened to a podcast lately that had a fertility expert on and she said something similar. They recommend some times taking a break for a few months go on the pill and when you come off your body is basically mad to ovulate/conceive! X

Ladyinpink1 · 22/05/2023 11:00

@Floralsandsmiles I haven't heard of this, sorry things have been so frustrating, hopefully someone else will know more. Wanted to say well done on the weightloss, that is brilliant and I think that helps fertility too.

@hopefulsquirrel I was very grumpy yesterday too (i'm blaming hormones lol) , i'm 5dpo today.

@Dinosaur39 that's great to be away during tww, hopefully it makes it go in quicker 🙂 Hopefully the cm is a good sign!

I panicked and googled IVF yesterday and was totally overwhelmed by it all. We are off to the GP if this cycle doesn’t work as they said they’d investigate after 6 months due to our ages.

I’m 42 and NICE guidelines say I’m entitled to one cycle of IVF but my CCG only funds it funds it for women under 35. I found this horrible snooty document online all about how NICE is only recommendations and they don’t have to follow it. But we wouldn’t qualify anyway as we haven’t been trying for 2 years.

The reason we haven’t been trying that long, and are trying to TTC #1 at this age, is that for a long time I took medication that’s very harmful in pregnancy and it just wasn’t an option. I was chatting to a friend who said can’t they bend the rules for you because of that and I wish she was right, but I doubt it because it’s so unlikely to work at my age.

Am 7 DPO and still hopeful for this cycle at least.

I hate the one size fits all approach - it's so unfair. There should definitely be considerations for things like this!
