Gosh I had not heard of the ovu sense but would have got one but I have just spent so much on the ovulation digital and all these supplements . Let me see how they go for a couple of months . I also will track temperature. I had a glimmer of a LH show on my ovulation test tonight . I literally danced around the bathroom and then wanted to cry. Gosh this journey is not for the faint hearted

praying4babba · 05/10/2023 22:23

@BertLiv oh no I am so sorry . Is there another agency you can go to ?

BertLiv · 05/10/2023 20:04

So, we managed to get access to the egg bank today and there are no matching donors. When we were told there was a shortage, we thought it meant there were only 20 or so donors, not none. I’ve asked them to call me tomorrow as, if it’s going to be a hugely long wait, I think we may come up with a new plan…feeling quite down about it now, but trying to stay positive. We just don’t want to be waiting again for months and months.

TT82 · 05/10/2023 12:17

@Cate78xx I can relate! Taking all but feeling great actually! Thinking maybe I should continue some regardless ttc ☺️

I added recently melatonin 1mg, had two days of headaches but it was due to cold, so no problem now. I read 1mg is safe and ok

Cate78xx · 05/10/2023 11:22

I’m trying to imagine it as a health kick rather than just to conceive as that feels less daunting. Lord knows I need more early nights (new bedtime 9.20) and vitamins.

im taking
uniqui
nac
alpha lipoic acid
vitamin c
whole food vitamins for women
need to get some extra methanfolate as the vita only have 400
ordeeed omega 3

am looking into blood test to see if I need dhea, vit d and something else. Has anyone got any tips for getting bloods done? I’m not under a doctor for anything particular /ivf etc atm so unlikely they will just do them just cos I ask

this list also suggests melatonin but not explored that yet

i will hopefully be glowing and not rattling as I continue to take them!

also trying low gi- again as health rather than just as focus for conception as can’t bear the pressure of the latter.

Just got my ovu sense in the post (decided it’s cheaper in mid term than the sticks) hopefully I’m actually still ovulating 🤞has anyone else used one?

Hope you’re all having a good day.

BertLiv · 05/10/2023 08:30

@Kelb79 Thank you 😊. I have worried slightly as we only tried IVF once with my eggs, and it was cancelled, so I do wonder whether we should’ve given it another chance. But, I asked the doctor again yesterday and he said it was very unlikely to work with my eggs and our best chance was with DE. Exciting to hear your 20 weeks - congratulations!

Kelb79 · 04/10/2023 23:33

@BertLiv how you’re feeling right now is so totally natural! I questioned our decision to do DE IVF until the moment I saw our embryos. Since then I’ve never looked back, love at first sight!! Im 20 weeks now and this baby has never felt like anything other than completely my own. I think about the donor element but only with absolute gratitude and never doubt ❤️❤️❤️

BertLiv · 04/10/2023 22:11

@Autumngirl7 I’m so sorry hear that - I can’t imagine how heartbreaking that is. My friend had the same issue but has now successfully had a little boy, so try to stay positive.

@Marvellouslymadmum Dr called this afternoon - he said that, given all the BFNs, I’m clearly not pregnant and I don’t need to wait for AF to start the donor egg process. So, I’ve emailed them and am now waiting for access to the egg bank. I’m part excited, part anxious and part sad that it won’t be my egg - but it’ll still be our baby. Now hoping I’ll be able to get some better sleep tonight! How’re you doing?

Autumngirl7 · 04/10/2023 21:39

Ladies my heart goes out to you all. I can’t imagine what you are all going through. My story is less of a struggle to conceive than some thought more of an impossible situation to sustain the pregnancies. My body rejects them 😢

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/10/2023 21:30

@BertLiv bfn suck bit so does waiting! Did you hear anything?

@TraceyTarotReader my iron levels are a nightmare, they give me strong tablets to get it up then leave me and it goes back down again and we go around in circles!!

TraceyTarotReader · 04/10/2023 20:40

@Marvellouslymadmum oh i must have read wrong sorry for the negative test I was low in iron and Vitamin D I had to take folic acid for 6 months and stop but I’m still taking my vitamin D had to have blood test 2 wks ago to see if they have returned to normal I haven’t heard from my doctors so it must be okay .

BertLiv · 04/10/2023 10:53

@Marvellouslymadmum No news yet, unfortunately, although I will be calling them in an hour or so if I haven't heard anything. I hate being in limbo. I took another test this morning at 5am, which was negative again (as I expected), so I think it's pretty definite that I'm not pregnant. I just hate all the waiting!

Haven't had a chance to read all the posts yet, but hope everyone is doing ok today!

Marvellouslymadmum · 04/10/2023 08:33

@Cate78xx personally I would just jump straight in, yes the prenatals will help but if you wait you may sit there thinking, why did I wait? That could've been the good egg!!

@praying4babba i hadn't realised some religions were against donor egg! Make sure when you get your coq10 that you get the good quality ubiquinol as it's the better stuff. And no I had no idea that's something they even did! How do they put you through menopause then have ivf?

@TraceyTarotReader ha no, definitely not me unfortunately. I have low iron levels so no af for a couple of months but started new tablets this week

TraceyTarotReader · 03/10/2023 22:33

@Marvellouslymadmum hey I’m good you been missing for a while did I see that your 18 wks pregnant ? Or am I reading someone eles post I had to catch up a lot don’t really come on here often hope your okay x

TT82 · 03/10/2023 21:55

Cate78xx · 03/10/2023 21:37

I’m not on any contraception. Tbh a 3 year old has been pretty good contraception as we’re always too tired or he’s sleeping in our bed! 😂
do you all think I should wait and take the prenatals to improve my egg quality for 3 months or jump straight in?

I only took folic acid last time and didn’t think anything of it but now I’ve read a little and have £200 worth of tablets arriving which is ridiculous I know! Even the thought of them is terrifying me somehow. It feels a lot more pressure this time.

I can relate re amount of pills I take every morning and then night 😆 no space for food even ..

praying4babba · 03/10/2023 21:39

Hi there

we are together ! I am 44 and we are about to dig deep and put everything into having our baby. Our ivf failed and we just found out that religiously we can not do donor. Gutted and flabbergasted as we had that as our safety net. Now with guns blazing I will be using ovulation sticks like toothpicks !!!
I have read that book and on co q 10 600 mg per day . Are you also going to take dhea?

@Marvellouslymadmum
have they put you through menopause yet for your adenomyosis ? I had three mo this downtime before our ivf which was not successful 🥹

Cate78xx · 03/10/2023 21:37

GingerFox2021 · 03/10/2023 21:23

@praying4babba oh yes! This is me ..

Marvellouslymadmum · 03/10/2023 21:16

@Autumngirl7 hi and welcome, I'm sorry to hear of your journey. I too have two children but mine are 17 & 18 from my previous relationship, one loss and no luck since. We will hopefully be moving on to de once I've had my laperoscopy 🤞🏻 I am 44 and I don't feel too old x

@BertLiv did you find anything out?

@TraceyTarotReader how are you doing? Not spoken for a while

@lillypilly7 hi and welcome! Have you tried doing it every other day for a whole month? It's a lot but works for some

@Cate78xx welcome to you too! If you're crazy we all are! I've spoken to a couple of negetive docs but I have to say the majority of doctors, nurses, and others have been very positive saying they know loads of others that have had babies into their 50's! The only advice I have is don't wait! If you're on contraceptive it's better to stop sooner than later I didn't and regret it now!

@praying4babba I have adenomyosis too, would love to chat more about it, I don't know a great deal!

For those that are new I do have children as mentioned above, they're 17 & 18 my partner has two 15 & 16 we have none together, one loss 5 years ago then nothing since, I have adenomyosis and probably endometriosis and I'm on the list for a laparoscopy as soon as that's done I'm off for doner egg or maybe a tandem cycle if I have any eggs left 😂

praying4babba · 03/10/2023 20:41

I think if your urge and want is there constantly and not just a fleeting moment do it !! Don’t live with regret

Autumngirl7 · 03/10/2023 20:35

This is a random question but I am worried that there may be a part of me that wants another baby r wise it’s my last chance to experience motherhood again. Think I’m losing the plot!

praying4babba · 03/10/2023 20:33

I think you ladies are wonderful and whoever makes you cry or makes you feel any other way apart from the joy, dismiss them !!!!
we are here for you ! I am awaiting my ovu kit to arrive , so far cd 16 and no ovulation . Was put into menopause for three months as have adenomyosis

TT82 · 03/10/2023 20:18

You are all so inspiring ladies!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your stories ❤️

Cate78xx · 03/10/2023 17:05

Hi thought I’d say hello. I’m 45 and have just decided to ttc after having first in 2020 without any difficulties.

my partner is really keen but I confess I’m quite scared after a bit of a google rabbit hole and a huge feeling of personal responsibility.. am I being selfish? Am I opening myself up for a lot of unnecessary sadness?

Have ordered a wealth of prenatals following the it takes an egg book advice. Also ordered the ovu sense monitor as no idea if I’m ovulating.
Going to wait til I’ve taken them for 3 months before officially ttc.

I only finished breastfeeding my son in April and have been on some hrt at that time due to low estrogen which doctor said could be perimenopause or due to the extended breastfeeding.

feel a bit of a mess and not sure if I’m mad to try this. Worried to ask GP for advice on anything as historically they’ve been so uneducated and unhelpful with pms and negative about pregnancy at 40 let alone 45

sorry for first post turning into a Debbie downer one!
wishing you all baby dust and health xx

TraceyTarotReader · 03/10/2023 13:51

@lillypilly7 nice of you to join us I don’t think there are any 50+ ttc on here unless there is and to embarrassed to say I was like that though now I don’t care I used to get judged even by friends and they used to make me cry and made me feel I am too old to ttc but they didn’t know my story I don’t have them as friends anymore but here’s to wishing you the very best on your ttc journey .

do you do anything to help you to conceive like track ovulation with opks BBT supplements I’m doing opks bbt and vitamin D and folic acid my cycles have been a little wacky for a couple of months ovulating later or not ovulating I think perimenopause has finally hit me x
