Pull out while ovulating

Hoping for some advice , my last period was on the 22nd of march. Lasted around 5-6 days . I went away with my partner for the weekend of the 31st march . Had unprotected sex that Saturday morning and night and used the pull out method. Stupid of us both but we were drinking and had no condoms . We are both fully aware of the risk he knows I’ve been off the pill ( we use condoms usually) for the last few months. My cycles are usually 27-28 days and now I’m panicking that I was in peak ovulation time ?! Has anyone been in this situation? Neither of us know what to think and if we are stressing for no reason .

It’s always possible, but less likely you’d get pregnant. We’ve been using pull out method for last year, but in full acceptance that we’d be ok with a pregnancy

issyb8 · 10/04/2023 21:09

The mistake was doing it around peak ovulation not the actual sex or pull out method .

No not at all , I don’t even mind someone being a bit straight up it was just some others making accusations and unnecessary comments . I’ve owned up to being silly that’s just not good enough for some but I defo didn’t take what you said as offensive x

This is a page for advice not for your shitty opinions or comments ! I have children and don’t need anymore excitement thankyou hun , if you’re not going to be say anything positive perhaps you should take your opinions elsewhere . Under no circumstances does me asking for advice mean it’s ok for u to assume anything . The pure cheek of people on here thinking it’s okay to make accusations when majority of grown men and woman have been in the same situation where they have made a mistake

Sorry if you felt my post was aimed at you. It was aimed at someone suggesting the morning after pill when clearly the window had passed. I've certainly made mistakes myself in the past, as I'm sure many people have. Hopefully you'll be okay!

Same mistake twice in a day? Surely you cant be surprised if people are a little judgey? Anyway I guess you must be at the point you can reliably test.

MK85 · 10/04/2023 16:34

Pull out method isn't effective since his body fluid can contain sperm

Some people also only use the pull out method as contraception! My concern was based around the fact we risked it not knowing at the time it was peak for ovulation or we wouldn’t have cared!

It isn't really contraception and I certainly wouldn't do it when drunk when there is less self control.

Oh no I’m so sorry that was definitely not in response to you , I’ve lost track of comments i thought I had replied saying thankyou . It was for the cat lady telling me it’s not contraception and we all know it x

Aw no worries! I was just making sure you didn't think I was attacking you! It can be feral on these threads sometimes haha. Good luck!!

Thankyou , I don’t think I’d be unhappy either but it definitely wasn’t my goal or his . I have 2 children and with them it was actively trying because we had planned ahead for them but I was just caught off guard with the potential of being pregnant and we have had no discussion previous and now have had to start talking about the what ifs . That itself is more stressful because you don’t know if your even in that situation yet your having difficult conversations so I just wanted a bit of peace of mind that really not to stress it til I know

Hey! It is a risky method but we used pull out for 5 years with no pregnancy then got pregnant within a year of not pulling out so you may be ok. Depends on how fertile his precum is and how well he timed it

Omgreally11 · 10/04/2023 11:14

issyb8 · 10/04/2023 11:10

is Your point just to let me know I made a stupid mistake and I should continue to feel stupid about it? Like I’ve said I knew it was a risk I just didn’t know I was risking it at the worst time of my cycle

Me? No not at all!! I'm saying I was absolutely fine. We used the pull out method for 11 years and I never once got pregnant and had sex regularly whilst i was ovulating. I'm saying it can be absolutely fine. I'm not on this forum to judge people. I was trying to reassure you!

jenn88 · 10/04/2023 11:14

Also our sole method of contraception here!
However we are fully aware that it is not reliable and wouldn't be unhappy if it resulted in pregnancy!

I know people who have done this too. Personally I think some women are a lot more fertile than others there's no way I could do this without falling on.

issyb8 · 10/04/2023 11:12

thankyou for those with fair comments , I’ve looked at a few similar posts here today before making one myself and it seems that the moment anyone on here mentions the pull out method there’s a lot of judgement and accusations. I’m grown my partner is grown , we have kids we don’t need to play silly games we just made a mistake

Yep! It has been my soul method of contraception for 11 years.

issyb8 · 10/04/2023 11:06

Thankyou! Whatever the outcome we will figure it out and be okay , we defo knew the risks and usually i wouldn’t have been so worried It was just when I realised It was around ovulation that we did it and wasn’t our best move :) just wanted someone to tell me I’m not totally over thinking :)

The pull out method isn't contraception though, and you knew that. Everyone knows that.

You went away for the weekend but didn't pack any of your only method of contraception. Didn't protect yourself in the morning but didn't bother to buy any during the day and then again didn't protect yourself at night? Sounds like you're looking for some excitement in your life and have decided an 'accidental' pregnancy is the way forward.

Whoa. Projecting much? Away and polish your tiara and let us mere mortals chat.
