New thread for those of us now trying for the first babies of 2024, may we all be lucky this month!

I'm CD1 today of cycle 6 ttc my second.
Had a chemical at the end of February and lots of illness in March so revved up to give this month all I've got!

@Annie1295 we couldn’t do it either. Poor hubbies πŸ˜†

Annie1295 · 01/09/2023 18:21

SMEP has finally defeated us. Last day of the three in a row but couldn't do it. I think we'll just do tomorrow morning and then call it a day for this month πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Babyhopeful23 · 31/08/2023 20:06

@Annie1295thanks! i really hope I can force myself to wait until Monday!

Annie1295 · 31/08/2023 06:16

@Babyhopeful23 all the best for Monday!

Babyhopeful23 · 30/08/2023 20:18

@Jess780 welcome! I hope that things happen for you soon.

im currently on 6DPO, no symptoms of anything happening. Testing on Monday 🀞🏻

Annie1295 · 30/08/2023 19:22

@Jess780 fingers crossed it happens before Christmas for you and you don't have to deal with GPs and waiting times and all that!

I agree I can't think of much worse than hungover sex but luckily I don't drink anyway so at least one of us will have the motivation to keep going

Jess780 · 30/08/2023 11:38

@careerchanger123 2 years seems really long to wait 😳 the NHS guidelines say initial checks at 1 year but 2 years until they'll refer for ivf. I've heard horror stories of long waits for fertility specialists though, maybe some areas are saying 2 years ttc for any testing to try limit who they even add to waiting lists. I'd also be willing to go private for some but hopefully it won't come to that.

@Savvy21 I'm thinking I will say December as a year if nothings happened by then as I'm clearly very impatient! The only way they would know could be from last order of contraception but I got that privately and people could have stopped immediately after getting a fresh prescription too. I'll wait out until Christmas see if my cycle gets better or if I do get pregnant by then but probably good to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later. It did take me 7 weeks to get a non urgent app at my GP last year!

@Annie1295 my DH loves hungover sex, I couldn't think of much worse! πŸ˜…

Annie1295 · 30/08/2023 08:08

@Jess780 welcome and sorry to hear you're feeling down

Static smiley on Clearblue today so hitting the final stretch of SMEP. DH will just have to make Sunday work even if he's hungover πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

careerchanger123 · 30/08/2023 07:32

@Jess780 sorry to hear you're feeling sad, I came off HBC (the patch) in December 2022, thought I'd also be pregnant by now as we started trying in February this year and nope, had a chemical pregnancy in April and nothing since.

I've actually just got into the doctors to have my bloods checked which I think checks things like thyroids etc but it's a start. My doctor also said it's 2 years before you can get investigated now, not sure if that's just my area or not. I'll end up doing private testing if nothing happens between now and June next year though x

Savvy21 · 29/08/2023 21:41

@Jess780 Welcome! I've not had the long cycles but I'd go to your gp sooner rather than later to get the ball rolling. You could probably say that you've been ttc since December ... do they check? They can't check can they? Really?

Jess780 · 29/08/2023 19:30

Hi everyone, first time posting, read through a few pages but a very long thread! I came off the pill in December and started ttc May. Feel like its getting me really down now, partly as it was my 29th birthday recently and I was so optimistic I'd already be pregnant by now. We were so excited the first cycle and now just frustrated. Using Natural Cycles to track but my cycles have been 39-52 days long, with the most recent the longest so seems like it's getting worse! Now on cd 18 but if it follows the previous cycle I'm potentially ~20 days from ovulation still. Checked the calender in app and it's predicting only 2 ovulations between now and Christmas 😭 Before coming off the pill I'd been on it since age 16 so I think my cycles were more normal then, but I didn't take much notice.
Anyone else's cycles took this long after birth control to get back to normal or gone to see gp before 1 year ttc with abnormal cycles?

Savvy21 · 29/08/2023 18:52

@Annie1295 fingers crossed that your cycle is the same. Mine is all over the place which does not help with my I'm not in control feeling haha.

Annie1295 · 29/08/2023 10:32

@Savvy21 not yet - hoping it'll be Thursday based on last cycle. Would be ideal with SMEP timing as we've got a 30th birthday party on Saturday and DH is not super keen on having to DTD on Sunday after that

Savvy21 · 29/08/2023 07:28

@Annie1295 ah OK thanks - will have to wait and see I guess. Have you got your static smiley yet?

Annie1295 · 28/08/2023 23:20

@Savvy21 ah okay I didn't even know that was possible. Ive had error codes before though when I dipped them for too long or too short so I always assumed if the result comes up it should be usable

Savvy21 · 28/08/2023 17:59

@Annie1295 when I looked at the test strip, the blue dye looked to have run all across the front of the test. Usually it has just two lines where one is darker than the other.

Annie1295 · 28/08/2023 16:59

@Savvy21 what do you mean by "flooded" ? I've been using clearblue for a good while now and never had an issue with a clear result. Never looked at the test strip though so don't really know what it's supposed to look like

Savvy21 · 28/08/2023 13:43

@moosey89 no not a new test stick using the same pack as went from flashing to static really quickly. Also on checking the stick, the 2nd line was quite faint although I know you shouldn't look at the stick haha.

moosey89 · 28/08/2023 12:54

@Savvy21 if you're using a new test stick (the bit you keep, not the strips you throw away) then I believe it always shows a circle for the first day as it's checking your baseline x

Savvy21 · 28/08/2023 11:09

@randomlymegan welcome and baby dust to you.

Question for you lovely ladies. I'm using clearblue opks and took a test last Wednesday and got a flashing smiley. Then a static on Thursday but the test looked flooded .... taken another one today as clearblue takes 3 days to reset or something and it's back to negative. Has anyone used clear blue and got a static smiley on a flooded test. Was it right or did it read it wrong? I think I should ditch these expensive tests and get the cheap amazon ones!

moosey89 · 27/08/2023 12:37

@Annie1295 good luck! Hopefully just a couple more days 😁
And thank you - got to be in it to win it as they say!

Annie1295 · 27/08/2023 12:06

Had two days of flashing smileys on clearblue advanced OPKs so hopefully the static one isn't too far away and SMEP won't turn out to be too strenuous

Annie1295 · 26/08/2023 09:42

@moosey89 good luck!!! You never know there's always a chance

moosey89 · 26/08/2023 08:20

Woohoo first static smiley since MMC in July so ovulation is coming! Sad news is my other half is completely under the weather, so we didn't try yesterday because I felt too mean to make him! We'll do today/tomorrow and hope for the best, definitely not expecting to catch first time but if you don't try then there's zero chance!

Annie1295 · 25/08/2023 20:43

@Babyhopeful23 good luck!! Hope this cycle works out for you. I'm already thinking we might not make one of the three predicted OPK days work as I'm on an all day off site work thing which means I'll have to leave around 6am and won't be back before midnight. DH is determined to get up early and DTD but we'll see how we go. Two should hopefully give enough coverage though
