New thread for those of us now trying for the first babies of 2024, may we all be lucky this month!

I'm CD1 today of cycle 6 ttc my second.
Had a chemical at the end of February and lots of illness in March so revved up to give this month all I've got!

@Bailem I'm not sure the actual temp matters that much as long as it's done consistently as your looking for the difference between high/low

Ttcdcno1 · 18/04/2023 18:22

@Bailem the lowest my temp has ever got is 35.8 πŸ˜‚do you temp orally? Is the thermometer far back enough under your tongue? I think that can affect it x

Bailem · 18/04/2023 18:12

Is anyone else's temperature quite low, I only come back at 35.4 etc, according to google I'm not far off hypothermia πŸ˜… I consistently temp as soon as I wake, before I do anything else. Not sure if my thermometer isn't very sensitive or if I'm just a cold person.

I'm just entering my fertile week so it'll be interesting to see if I go up. This is my first month tracking bbt and we're on cycle #4.

I do remember being hot an early symptom of pregnancy with my DD!

Un7breakable · 18/04/2023 17:46

@Optimistic66 I think consistency is key either after longest sleep or same time. I get up multiple times per night so always take it at same time regardless of amount of sleep and can always pin point ovulation.

Daniki · 18/04/2023 17:23

@TunnocksTCake ok thanks might give this a go this time I think I should be finished period tomorrow, will start testing with my OPK aswell tomorrow! Here's to us all getting pregnant this cycle πŸ™πŸ˜…

TunnocksTCake · 18/04/2023 15:08

Hi @Optimistic66 I had my DD in Sept 2020 and also craving another little one. All my friends from when I had her are on their second and some thinking about thirds already! Fingers crossed this will be our month.

I think taking BBT at the same time each day is quite important so if at all possible can you set an alarm for the same time each day? Or at least during the key days over ovulation so you know that bit is correct?I think the advice for shift workers (for example) is to do it after longest period of sleep so I guess you could try to do it when you wake each morning and see if it makes a difference being at a different time. I notice a difference if I sleep for even 1 hour longer, its so bizarre but I think each person is different.

Welcome @CoteDOpale :)

Hi, long time lurker etc. Have been TTC on/off and just finished our first cycle of back β€˜on’ after a break.

AF has come early on 11 DPO so here we go - CD1. Bring on 2024!

Optimistic66 · 18/04/2023 13:57

also does anyone have any advice on how to track BBT? do you use a app? i get up different times depending on if i’m going office/WFH etc! i’m on day 2 of my cycle at moment!

Optimistic66 · 18/04/2023 13:53

Hi

Joining the thread - been trying TTC for a few months and am currently having aunt flow! First proper period in about a year since I had my son Dec 2020.

Fingers crossed this is the cycle and wishing everyone lots of baby dust! i’m so desperately craving a baby! all i see everywhere is little babies!

TunnocksTCake · 18/04/2023 13:35

Hi @smldnlove & welcome!

@Bluebell0921 well done on the accidental SMEPing!! Given yourself an excellentchance there.
As well as what was said above you can mention someone in your message by putting an @ before their name then you can reply to multiple people at once.

@Daniki it is the Sperm meets egg plan - a way of timing sex for the fertile window which involves every other day from when your period finishes (ish) then when you get a peak OPK you dtd 3 times in a row, skip a day and try once more. I tend to start it on CD 11/12 but I ovulate on CD 16/17 so its around a week for us all in.

Daniki · 18/04/2023 13:20

Can I ask what is sperm meets egg? Is this using the menstrual cup?

Mushroo · 18/04/2023 12:14

TunnocksTCake · 18/04/2023 09:19

@Mushroo going to do SMEP (or try to!) this monthas that worked well for us with DD. Well done for not testing early, when is AF due?
@Babyhopeful23 if you ovulated a couple of days ago it is unlikely to be implantation unfortunately. I wouldnt worry sometimes the cervix can be a bit sensitive and bleed randomly,

Due on Saturday. Had a bit of spotting so not holding out much hope! But I guess you never know

smldnlove · 18/04/2023 10:31

Hi all! Can I join? Been mooching around a few threads and TTC for about 3 months, and have now slipped into a 2024 due date so feels like the right place to be!

We are having a month of trying next cycle (currently waiting for AF to arrive, she's late by 3 days at the moment and haven't tested since 10dpo so will today but can feel the AF symptoms). Hoping to hold off next cycle and start again after our wedding in June.

@Bluebell0921 hi! you can either press the 3 dots and quote someone to reply or hit the 'Add comment' or 'Reply' under their comment to respond directly. We are only DTD around 2-3 times currently around my window, and I'm shattered!! So can't imagine SMEPing!!!πŸ˜‚

Bluebell0921 · 18/04/2023 09:27

Hello all.

Im still new to this and don’t really know how to reply to people.

I inadvertently ended up doing SMEP. Only came across that last week but we were DTD every other night anyway and I assumed I hadn’t ovulated but then got a positive ovulation test and some signs 5 days late so DTD 3 days in a row. I’m shattered!!!

Sending you all good vibes! How are you all?

I don’t plan on testing early. I generally only test early if I have an event like a wedding and I want to have some alcohol otherwise I really try and wait it out although I must admit it’s getting harder to do that with every month that passes. I’m a bit confused about when AF is due now as my ovulation was so much later so I don’t know if AF will be 5 days later or the usual time. I guess there’s only one way to find out!

I’ve had some brown spotting! I’ve never had this before… could it be implantation?

Savvy21 · 17/04/2023 20:14

@Babyhopeful23 I'll probably test next Monday which according to my ovia app would be 12dpo. My rhr is still high but looking back I've had sudden plummets and the arrival of AF so trying not to get too hopeful.

Daniki · 17/04/2023 12:55

@TunnocksTCake good luck! πŸ₯°πŸ™

Mushroo · 17/04/2023 10:59

@TunnocksTCake keeping busy hasn’t kept me that distracted tbh! But I’m not going to early test, just going to keep an eye on bbt and see if AF arrives. I get spotting beforehand so will see what happens (9dpo today).

Good luck DTD! Are you following a plan or just going with the flow?

TunnocksTCake · 17/04/2023 10:01

Hi hows everyone doing? Im finally at CD 12 and beginning the loong week of dtd, wish me luck!
@Bluebell0921 hi, how did you get on over the weekend? Its so hard when people around you seem to fall so easily, your time will come.

@Mushroo good job on keeping busy in tww, I always manage it with the weekends but have to be home in the week for DD so those evenings dragggg!

Babyhopeful23 · 16/04/2023 22:13

@Savvy21 im predicting ovulation happened CD15 which was yesterday. Or is yet to come, I’m going to keep going with my OPKs to see.
I’ll be testing April 30th what about you?

Savvy21 · 16/04/2023 16:02

@Mushroo I always cave early and test but AF always turns up the same day! It's almost like it waits for me to test before turning up a few hours later.

What date is everyone due to test?

Mushroo · 15/04/2023 20:44

Savvy21 · 15/04/2023 19:01

@Mushroo Amazing that alcohol free beer is OK- I tried alcohol free gin and it was a bit grim.
I really need to get back into running again as I really liked park run - have work commitments now. My DH was working from home but has to go into the office more so I worry that he won't get back in time to look after DD if I join a running club! Might meet up with a friend one evening but that's about it. Otherwise just checking my heart rate and waiting until I can test. Are you an early tester or do you wait until AF due?
Hi @Bluebell0921 it's annoying when people around you fall pregnant so easily. You're happy for them but at the same time think why can't that be me. Hope this cycle is your cycle. Fingers crossed and baby dust to you.

Yes I was very pleasantly surprised with the beer! I only started running in Jan as part of my β€˜get healthy’ regime and actually enjoying it!

I always say I’m not an early tester but I think I’ll cave! I normally spot before AF so it that doesn’t happen it’ll spur me to test. How about you?

Bluebell0921 · 15/04/2023 19:41

Thanks so much. It’s hard because when people have fallen pregnant very quickly they have no experience of the TTC journey so I’ve ended up feeling really isolated like I don’t have anyone who gets it. My husband is much more relaxed, a lot of his mates it’s taken a while with one couple going through IVF so perhaps his expectations are different. Plus they don’t have to do all the tracking etc!
